Sounds like a good Tuesday night

Hurts played well on Sunday. There, you’ve been triggered.

The blog has turned into politics. Either you’re a Hurts lover or hater. No middle ground. Will twist any fact to prove your point and defend your agenda despite you not really benefitting from it. The only benefit you get is believing that you’re right when in fact no one cares about your stupid opinion anymore than this mumbo jumbo I’m currently ranting about.

All 22 is up finally. I have watched the first half but need a break from the quarters coverage calls. Jefferson is going to feast on the gaps in the quarters coverage.  At least play some zone match.  Shudder.

Few observations.  They had Seumalo watching Hurts for the snap signal and tapping Kelce to snap it.   @justrelax not seeing a lot of motion.  I was about to rag on Hurts for leaving a clean pocket until I replayed it several times.  Dickerson is about three yards past the LOS right before Hurts bails.  I wonder if they worked on observing the illegal man downfield. Before that the coverage was pretty good.  Pass rush was nonexistent for the Eagles.

One thing people ignore is that they were in Detroit, with a fired up, sell out crowd.

That's tough on the first game, and no, exhibition games won't prepare you for that.

The line seemed a step behind, probably getting used to silent counts. Hurts started 0 for 5, with no protection and timing off with his WRs, who failed to make plays for him to start the game. So he used his legs to move the ball until the team got in sync.

Hurts kept them in the game in the 1Q when the Lions were playing on adrenalin off the crowd and beating the Eagles on both sides of the ball - once the Lions came back to earth, the Eagles took over.  Then the defense got tired and complacent.

When the offense puts up 31 points and 400+ yards of offense on the road, they've done their job.

But haters are gonna hate.

When is America’s Team going to sign Kaepernick?

There seems to be a significant increase in fandom for individual players over the team. It's how the NFL is marketing their product these days. The QB position is the most impactful, so it will get the most attention. Hurt's is in a gray zone; he's not top 10, but he's also not a bottom 10 QB. Half think he can become a top 10 guy, and the other half believe he will never reach that.

We're week 1 into the season. I feel at the bye, we should have a solid answer as to what this team is and where its going.

I don’t see it that way. The argument with Hurts is all about the team. I don’t think he’s good enough to lead the team to a Super Bowl. Nothing else really matters.

But he’s good enough to consistently beat bad/crippled teams, which makes the Eagles a shoe-in for the playoffs in the NFC especially with the new format… it will likely take another first round exit before many question the direction at QB (as most folks don’t follow a football blog and are happy with a W on Sunday).

That’s the reason you wouldn’t move to Haiti?

PFF thinks Hurts was better than a guy with 77%, 360 yards, 5 TD’s and 0 INT’s.

I don’t care

A lot of tape between then and now, can’t put that tooth paste back into the tube.

Derek Carr in his last 11 games: 14 TDs, 13 INTs, 11 fumbles, 5-6 record

Davante Adams will improve the offense, but he won’t improve Derek Carr
