EMB Blog: 2022 Regular Season (and beyond?) - NO POLITICS

I don't think they'll lock into him for a long time barring a real leap this season that no one here expects. They could give him more money next year in an interim type deal.  So many variables now. I think beyond his play a lot will depend on Howie's confidence in getting another QB.  If it's going to take 3 1's to get the 3rd best QB in this draft then they might look at Hurts more favorably in the short run than say if the Saints have a top 5 pick for us.

So pissed, the Aints should be 0-2

Maybe we have Book so we beg Jalen to be the starter.

Which player will get our irrational rage after Hurts is gone?

I don't see a lot of irrational rage yet towards Hurts.  He is who he and it's not like he isn't trying.  He just has a ceiling on how high he can play.  I mean people make fun of his swag but I don't think he's hated even by his detractors.

Since the other Jalen left, he seems to be the only player we really rail on constantly.

Jimmy G needs to call Jason Peters for tips about how to re-negotiate a contract.

You really think it’s wise to limit the ability for a head coach to pick and chose his coaches?   You’re smarter than that.

I think it's true that Howie was too pushy about who Doug hired and that Doug made a bad decision to keep Pres Taylor.  The real issue for those teams offensivel was talent and to a lesser extent scheme.  Howie was to blame for the lack of talent.

Stop.  He’s the QB of the most important sports team to us. He has major flaws and others have already anointed him.  He’s gonna be discussed.  No one hates the person.

I agree, but it's the same ole same ole day in and day out. Maybe after a few games we will have other players to discuss, in addition to Hurts.

When people are saying Hurts sucks because Wentz completed 4th qtr passes in a losing effort then there is irrational hate.  Absolutely Hurts is flawed but there is irrational hate too

It’s more so the agent who presses more in negotiations. The big hang up right now with some other guys like Lamar is the guaranteed money portion of the contract. Watson blew the roof off with $230 million guaranteed but guys like Murray and Wilson took less because that was an outlier deal. I’m guessing Lamar wants something close to that and Baltimore isn’t budging because they don’t feel they need to make a bone-headed deal like Cleveland did.

The issue with guaranteed contracts is the owner having to put the all of it in escrow.  Unless that rule changes the Bengals and Burrow will have interesting negotiations.

I guess Sirianni wasn’t lying in his opening press conference that he’ll run the Wing T if that gives him the best option to win

Maybe.   I'm just reading tea leaves.   But, his whole coaching circle involves coaches who have short windows with their QBs.  His brother coaches HS, another brother at College.  His phone calls were to Jay Wright and his old college coach.   The NFL is a different animal, but maybe he's dealing with it like a guy who will have turnover at the QB position no less frequently than every 4 years.

I totally agree I'm in no rush to re-sign Hurts and I agree with your other points. That said it seems like there are people here who have angst that if they aren't constantly saying something bad about Hurts that it will lead the Eagles to re-sign him immediately to a huge contract 😂😂

Nfl will use that he’s a first time offender as the reason but yeah that’s suspension worth. Tbh I’d suspend a bunch of them involved for the reason this crap keeps happening with these two teams. You want to make a point at stopping or then dish out suspensions not just fines. I would think the next time they play you aren’t going to have something like this happen due to fear of fine and suspension.

Maybe there are two solutions. Impose the suspensions next instead of the next game coupled with those in game ejections.

Don’t knock the Wing T.  We played against a team that ran the Wing T in high school.  Of course our team ran the wishbone.

Given his injury history, he is unlikely to see all that money. Then what?  Brock Purdy ain’t gonna be pretty.

Jalen finger wagged so Jalen could run

Kind of think the Jimmy G injury helps the niners make the playoffs as long as he doesn’t miss like 3-4 weeks at any point. I thought they’d be on the fringe but with Jimmy G i think they’ll get in. Going to be interesting to see who makes in the nfc. @TorontoEagle lions have a shot. I still tend to see it being Bucs, packers, rams, niners,, Vikings and eagles with a list of giants, cardinals, saints, lions and even Dallas if they can just be at .500 when Dak comes back fighting for the 7 seed

I wonder if the FO didn’t have a lot of choice with Pederson on coach hires.  He went from high school coach to NFL coach and didn’t seem to have a lot of experience with other coaches so his knowledge of who to hire was a bit bare.  Note that he used the year off to travel to other teams and familiarized himself with other coaches. Howie is the de facto GM so all blame he owns part of.

Backside blocking was key. Cut backs are murder on the defense.

Did they not make any call-ups yet?
