the bolded is exactly the point. He ALWAYS wants to scramble on 3rd downs. He wants to be the guy converting 1st downs. Thats where the glory is. The spotlight is not as bright on 1st and 2nd. When you have to pick up a 1st or the drive ends, on 3rd down- that is where the glory is. Making that play. And he always calls his own number.

A lot of those other runs may have been called QB runs. There were some designed runs. Others may have been read option where he kept it (some were the right read. some may not have been.) But as I said aside from called runs- when you look at his propensity to call his own number on 3rd downs, and goal line, and watch his superman celebration- its become clear he is all about himself. Despite what he says to the press that makes people believe he is a good teammate. His actions are different than his words.

Hold on there.

I thought he was incapable of making a second or third read, sensed pressure that wasn't there, and would just run without extending the play.

So none of that is true!?!?!?

He can do all those things, but just wants to call his own number so he can flex in the end zone?

Time will tell? Lamar, the league MVP has shown you what happens come playoff time.

Also, we saw Mr. Hurts vs Tampa just last year.

You have chosen two "comparables” much like a real estate appraiser might do.  But those "comparables " are just informed guesses.

When Jerry Brown ran for Governor of California against Meg Whitman similar comparisons to Jerry’s first term and his father’s history were made.  They were good educated guesses, but Jerry’s second stint as Guv proved to be very different, surprising all the prognosticators.

So, I repeat, time will tell.

So you have 1 half against the Vikings and 1 half against the broncos out of 25? games...

Going to be a very long and miserable season for you.  And for the seasons ahead as Hurts remains the QB.  Might be wise to defect back to the Steelers.

Hopefully Monday night's game means we can move past the legitimate gripe that he doesnt go through progressions.

However, what you said there has been true through his entire career thus far. And does not preclude him from being selfish and always choosing to run it himself on 3rd downs.

I dont know how you actually think you had a gotcha moment there. That was a weird, senseless, illogical post.

Hurts made probably his best throw of the night on that play to Watkins

I too felt it was the best pass of the game.

NFL Homepage has some " Interesting" stats regarding the upcoming Eagles v Commode Doors game.

Current Rankings

Eagles 26th on D after holding the Viqueens to 7pts and beating them to a standstill for 3 qtrs?

Has the CDs 2nd in passing, League wide, and 6th overall Offense?

Without a Deep Dive, that seems out of line.

Do you think Hurts pays off all his own loans, or lets the government do it for him?

I think we're getting too far into the weeds based on a one-game performance from Hurts.  Because it was on MNF, the national sports media is all over him with praise -- when they forget Hurts had a 27-for-35 game with 3 TD passes and 0 INT against ATL in Week 1 last season.  That performance was an outlier in Hurts' overall 2021 season.

I didn't think Hurts played all that well against DET in Week 1.  Ran far too much, targeted AJ Brown predominately without distributing the ball, and his inability to move the offense in the 4th quarter was part of what helped the Lions comeback.

This is why I'm trying to base my opinion on 6-game portions for this season.  Hurts is neither the 56% completion ball hog he was against the Lions nor the 84% field general he was against the Vikings.  The truth will be somewhere in the middle.  As Eagles fans, we hope it's closer to the Week 2 performance.

And the nerve of him to flex in the end zone! Nobody else does it.

Stop incorrectly arguing that he ALWAYS chooses to run on third down and I'll stop making weird, senseless, illogical, gotcha-moment posts.

You think we're waiting six games? In this modern world? Not a chance, friend!

The better Hurts plays the angrier and most desperate his haters here become.

Recency bias has you seeing more than you should.  If we are using this two week sample, Tua is the 3rd best QB in the NFL.

You know we can have a discussion about his strengths and flaws right? Like actual adult conversations.

@Bacarty2

I like the Steelers tonight getting points, your thoughts?

Nope.  I'm good.  Hurts ran on third-and-long only twice on Monday.

Stick to Barnett's athleticism.  That was a winning position.
