You're right, the NFL doesn't have to. But a streaming service that very few people associate with live sports streaming, is trying to come up with ways to spread the word that it owns the TNF streaming rights this year. Not really sure how this in any qualifies as being "tone deaf" though, seems like a pretty weird way to describe this.

I suppose its a play on their streaming service being faster than what was available in the past.   Still hate TNF.  It shouldn't be a part of the NFL schedule, until they give teams byes before they match up.  #Playersafety

Lol yea Wilson got me with that tweet. Like I said the marketing strategy worked. I'm sure other players will mention it as well

He's an idiot and doesnt get advertising. He think's everyone should be a hard core fan, know everything or you shouldnt watch football.

He's the same dope who said no one cared about the "new jerseys" teams were revealing over the summer despite having millions and millions of tweets and retweets

I'm not calling him a dope or idiot just for having a different opinion. He is right in that fans like us it's just beating us over the head at this point. But in the clicks=life of today's marketing world, they've pulled off a very good campaign.

Home?   He’s from NoVa and played college ball 3 1/2 hours away from Philly.  How is it "home”?

It annoys the hell out of me that people around here act like Penn State is the local team. I can't stand them.

You’re reading the Beats too much. They are mostly crappy at identifying coverages. Only pure zone is quarters.  Most "zone” is a combination of "man” and "zone”.  Eagles played a lot of Cover 2 and Cover 4 last year.  Basically combinations where some players played man and some zone.  The beats say Bradberry is a great zone defender.  He is in that when asked to play zone, he plays it tight.  Bradberry is a great off man cover.  In other words, he doesn’t press.  Neither does Slay.  But off man is still man.  Now in good coverage schemes, there are switches and too many read that as only occurring in "zone”.  It’s quasi-zone.

Saban and Belichek play a great technique of this in there Cover 1 variation.  Now, basic Cover 1 is with the "high” S being the only "zone” player.  Basically old free safety style from my high school days.    In the Saban/Belichek version, the Ss line up almost like a combination of Tampa 2 and Cover 1.  Depending on the offensive lineup, the interchangeable Ss may switch depending on what the offense throws at them.  So, for example the strong side S may line up shallower and the weak side deep, but a shift may cause the strong side to drop and the weak side to cover, usually a slot receiver or inside receiver, which can be a TE, RB or WR.    Now what I find interesting is that Gannon is obviously looking for Ss with nickel skills or should I say Howie because that fits Wallace too. CGJ, Scott, Chachere, Vincent. All nickel/Ss.  Arguably Maddox too.  That fits with the Saban/Belichek version of Cover 1.

Eagles don’t play a lot of pure "Man”. That’s all DBs and some LBs playing strictly man on man in coverage.  That’s good because as bad as the Eagles are in Quarters, they absolutely suck at Cover 0.  But that’s because they aren’t particularly good at press.   Cowpads play a lot of press and probably play more man than any other team.  Brown and Smith are press killers more often than not and you had better succeed at pressing the man at the LOS or Smith, Brown and Watson are going to leave your press DBs behind.

This doesn't make much sense. For starters, quarters and cover-4 are the same thing. Further, cover-2 and cover-3 are also pure zone coverages, there's no one in man on those. I presume you're confusing those with cover-1 and cover-2 man under, which does have some defenders assigned to a receiver.

Hurts is a starter, not a journeyman backup.

I feel like we have been down this road before @VaBeach_Eagle

yeah... unfortunately there is 1 glaring issue/weakness on this team.

And even next year Im pretty certain the rookie QB wont be ready to win us a super bowl.

Im still excited for this season though because the roster is so damn good.

He made way more and way bigger moves this offseason than for the 2017 season. Let's see how it pays off.

With another team.

Doubt it.  I think he'll be resigned here after week 1 when his salary is no longer guaranteed for the year.   He was a UFA just this past offseason and had no one bite.  He came back here for about $1M... basically league minimum for a vet of his experience.   He's a guy they will keep the phone number of in case of injury.

Any chance Reagor is part of a deal for Alexander Mattison?

What's the next big move?

I'm surprised the XFL never experimented with a microchip in the ball. Seemed like a good testing ground for new tech.

It’s coming.  That is part of the XFL partnership to try out new technology.

Its a shame we are in such terrible cap shape so we cant take advantage of other teams cap casualties.

Oh wait... just this season alone, AJ Brown, and CGJ. Hmmm.....

Bradberry as well.

Yep.  Pedophile State University.  I live in PSU area for far too long.  I loathe them and their fan base.  Almost as much as Pittsburgh and Dallas.

If I was up in Renovo, how much farther do I need to go to see Elk in PA?

Do you have proof of this?

Let’s just say you’re right.   Do you think trying to convince people that there is a new football is what accomplished that goal?   Or maybe just a simple video/ad saying something like "listen Fers.  TNF is going to be on Prime.  Get off your ass and get a Prime account so you can watch football”.

Boom, mission accomplished.   I like my ad, a hell of a lot more.

I think it's a creative. If it got us talking this much today, imagine what it did for casual fans. Do you think the JG Wentwork or Karz for Kidz people thought their jingles were good? No. They were earworms that get talked about in a negative light...but still talked about. I'm a marketing nerd, and while I don't have access to their metrics, I guarantee a video up for 4 hours that gets over 186k views is a success.

Man, you're a special type of troll.

My opinion means nothing, but you want to hold church based on your opinion

Only super positive, uplifting projections allowed for Hurts, all other QBs suck or are journeymen back up in that church.

How boring.

As America's team, PSU represents all of us and the very best of us.

Plus, tell all the fans who celebrated Super Bowl LII out there on Paterno Parkway and Sandusky Street that PSU ain't Philly.

I remember how much this city hated Pete Rose until he became a Phillie.

Well, turns out hating Rose was the right move.  Guy is a giant ****.   Same with Dykstra.  Another giant ****.

I am hoping this guy falls more into the realm of a Keith Jones style yapper on the field, but actually isn't a giant turd ball in real life.   I also didn't like Bryce Harper when he was in Washington... but love him as a Phillie.

The amount of pressure on Hurts this year is insane. I can't imagine bearing that weight in this city. It would break a lot of players.
