Yes. I think you’re right. It may also be that I’m delusional at times. If so, please say so. It’ll help me with self-scouting, so to speak.

P.S. He’s probably more than 80% right. This ain’t rocket surgery.

I'm 2/3 of the way thru and I'd say you were spot on.  I'd say he is on the money the vast majority of the time but as you said there were some key misses.  I've seen a couple plays where he gushes about Mailata but says nothing about Dickerson whiffing.  I also see the times he calls out Seumalo but then says nothing or very little on excellent Seumalo blocks on other plays (note: he did mention the nice block by Seumalo on the Goedert TD).

Note: I'm not an OL dude, didn't play OL, never learned the technique, etc. so I'm quite the novice on the topic.  I've enjoyed really focusing on the line play the last 6 or 7 years though and that was a lot due to reading your posts so thanks for that!

Agree.

And then the NFL also did an investigation.

I truly dont know if he has a concussion. No one does, except the dolphins doctors, and when the NFL found on the tests/reports. And even those can be doctored... no pun.

But again, last night, today, social media, sports radio, we have 4.2 billion doctors.

NFL investigation holds no water.  There is a major conflict of interest there.

He has a pretty interesting background. Played football at Harvard, graduated with a phD in neuroscience from BU, won a reality show where the winner got a contract with the WWE, and then had to retire in 2003 due to post concussion syndrome. After that he founded the Concussion Legacy Foundation and BU's CTE center. Spearheaded CTE efforts investigating the Andre Waters and Justin Strzelczyk deaths. I've been watching wrestling for years and remember his character, so it's even weirder for me seeing what he's done since.

Zero chance.  dude has one concussion in the pro's and now he's gonna retired.

I wouldnt be shocked if he's back before Halloween

I don't know but I think the spascicty reaction is indicative of a moderate as opposed to a mild TBI.  Ultimately, there is testing that will determine his return to play.

He should apologize for that.   So disrespectful.

Well, he was also a mayor before governor. Just because I skipped a few things doesn't mean my post was wrong and / or needed fixing.

Kane is also the Mayor of Knox County, TN now too.

The NFL isn't the Dolphins.  It's not necessarily a fair arbiter and the question of following a written policy is likely going to be confirmed.  I think the Dolphins and the doctors probably did follow protocols.  I think the problem is that Tua wanted to go back in and that swayed the doctors.

agree 100% but retirement...god no

I doubt he retires but I doubt an actual specialist doesn't warn him against a quick return to play and outlines the increased risk with any return to play. Players do sue doctors for malpractice in these situations when they are released too soon from care.

This was mild, if that.  Moderate tbi is much more severe than what we saw.  He wouldn’t be flying home with the team either.

A general picture of best case moderate TBI: at least 24hr of barely forming words, eyes only opening to loud screaming sounds right in the ear, and barely giving a thumbs up when someone shouts at you while grinding a fist in the chest.

If you got any pleasure out of my posts on the OL I am totally delighted. Cheers!

Picked the Dolphins and felt good about it until Tua went down and the defense didn't come back after the 2nd half

This is the big issue... players can and do lie about their symptoms to get back into games.   It is no where near a perfect science.

The decision has to be taken out of their hands. Some of these guys will die on the field before being taken out and replaced. It's boxer/fighter mentality. You need a third party to make that decision.

The decision is out of their hands.  However, how they report their symptoms, and if they have any symptoms, is always in their hands.  The team, the independent doctors, etc.  They are all using information provided by the patient.

Guys got around the draft board restrictions years ago that were too blind to pass a physical, because they memorized the eye chart.  Motivated patients can (and do) lie about symptoms or lack of symptoms.  There's really no way to get around that that I know.   The patient will always be involved in the process.   And while, as it pertains to the NFL, the player doesn't have the final decision, their input informs those who do.  And, like it, hate it or whatever, it is their body and their risk... and their livelihood.

That's not quite how it works.

Who has final say? Independent doctor or the team doctor?
