Where would you rank tucker in terms of all time kickers?

First by a mile. No one comes close. He's probably the best player in the league when you compare to him to players at the same position. In other words, the gap between him and the next best kicker (Gano) is probably larger than the gap between the best player at another position and the second best player at that position.

We need at least one, maybe two DEs early. Also CB, S, LB depending on who gets resigned. LT is way down the needs list and is more of a luxury pick than need.

Of course, but the original question was no DL available. I’d definitely entertain a RT. Love Lane, but he’s getting up there.

You left out the fries and dessert.

See that’s where I’m just not 100% agreeing with most of the fanbase. Right now, of the starters, JM is the weak link of the OL. Now, that is an outstanding problem to have. He’s a good player with a high ceiling who could become a star but he’s not a star yet, imo. Definitely not in the same league as Trent Williams or Peters in his prime. Personally I think him and Lane are playing the wrong sides but I get not trying to fix greatness in Lane.

But of course DB and even WR could be an option.

Peters is probably the greatest LT to ever play the sport. Of course JM isn’t to that level. Dude just started playing the sport. But I’d say he’s a star. You watch the games and he’s impactful and dynamic in addition to being a reliable pass blocker.

@Original Sin

I think I remember you collecting basketball cards. Especially rookie cards.

Since the NBA has begun a new path to the draft with rookies able to forgo a college season and play in the G league have you noticed if they make rookie trading cards for those G league players? Or do they wait until they are a rookie on an actual NBA team?

It would be great to find a Wembanyama G League card. As well as his rookie card once he is drafted. But Im not sure if there will ever be a G league card in existence.

I want a Wembanyamo card ... my business school was called WEMBA.

With the OL we have... running the ball should always be a major piece of the offensive philosophy.  Investing big in a 3rd WR just doesn't make a ton of sense to me.  And the price of WRs is getting ridiculous.  Having multiple $100M Wrs on the roster is just not a viable roster construction option, in my view.   Whereas, keeping the 2nd and 3rd WRs cost fairly low, and keeping the RB cost fairly low, while investing heavily in the OL means that you should have a sustainable offense for the foreseeable future.  The game is still won and lost, primarily, along the LOS.  2020 was a crap season for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one was the absolute dreck that was thrown out to play OL that year.  2019 wasn't great by any means, but it was a playoff year, in large degree because the OL held up.

How long can Hurts continue to play this type of physical game though? I love the style from a viewers perspective but the guy is going to get himself injured with how physical he is.

The offense is going to need to evolve as he evolves. And is Quez really a guy that you change your offense for? If you can add a game changer at WR, wouldn’t you throw the ball more to the #3 WR?

Quez plays a fraction of what Brown and Smith do but when he is in, he has to be accounted for.  He is a big reason why the intermediate routes are single coverage.  Very few CBs can play him single man.  That draws the S.  If he runs through the zone, he draws the S.  Watching the Commode Doors trying to solve that on the All 22 was a joy.  They want to double cover Smith, Brown and Goedert but they can’t. Do that and Quez is open. The empty because of Hurts’ running ability is a conundrum for the DC.

Great description.  Thanks.

I can't help but wonder whether Devon Allen has a future in that role.  If the answer is "yes" then Howie the trader might consider getting trade value for Watkins.

Aaron Donald and all the rest of the DTs?

I forgot the Cardinals started 7-0 last year. They’ve been pretty meh since.

Didn't they have some things happen after that 7-0 start like D Hopkins got hurt?

I'm sure if AJ Brown or Lane or a combo of other guys got injured the Eagles might nosedive too.

Allen is 3 years older than Watkins.  He's not going to develop.  Watkins isn't depth.  He's a key piece of the offense that runs a lot of 11 personnel looks.  Why would this team consider trading him?

When you add the targets for Goedert to those to Smith and Brown, what "leverage" is there left for a WR#3 ... and that doesn't even include RB targets.

It's a very simple concept for the 2023 draft with how many teams need a QB and how many QBs there are...

1) Will Anderson if available

2) Trade back for a kings ransom.

False dichotomy

If the Saints pick stays high IMO it's edge rusher or bust for us. Otherwise I'd be looking to trade the pick for someone looking for an OT or QB.

If the Saints pick stays high then trading down should definitely be the priority IMO. We could go from top 5 to the 10-15 range, still get a blue chip edge rusher, and pick up a future first and a few other quality picks.

I’m not calling him a star. Kelce, Lane, definitely. I’ll be ready to call him a star when he makes an All-Pro team. Imo, a star LT is more than just a "reliable” pass blocker.

Phenomenal upside but I just can’t drool over him the way others do. He’s a good starter and I’m glad he’s here.

It would work out. More mismatches. Can’t single cover everyone

On the calendar Allen is older, but in terms of wear and tear on his body, I'm not sure he is any "older" than Watkins.  However, my real beef with your opinion is in the second sentence.  I don't see any reason why Allen "is not going to develop"  Bob Hayes developed, why can't Allen?

The team only considers trading him if they believe they have a viable replacement.  And Watkins is in year three of his four year contract.  He more than likely will be gone after next season ... succession planning.

lol what do you think is happening now?

Fewer runs for Hurts to start. He’s rushing about 13 times per game. That’s a lot of risk to the QB.

Quez is a tough one for Howie to trade and win.

Quez on another team is a much better player.  For instance,  Quez on the Bears is Darnell Mooney ( not this year's version with Fields sucking.  The good version).

Trading Quez for a 4th and seeing him produce like he is capable of in a larger role is a loss for Howie.

Why are we trading Quez?  A productive piece on a rookie deal?

Because we need Jamar Chase to be our 5th WR

Jamar Chase.....special teams gunner.

We need to hurry up and trade Quez because hes going to be too expensive to keep because hes good....and then draft a WR high in the first round so we can get someone good enough that Hurts can throw to as a WR #3. Just making sure we're all on the same page here.
