And I still think this is insane. Agree. I bet if you asked 100 fans at every ballpark in MLB why do they call it the bullpen and what does it mean or remind you of and I'd wager very very few would say they think of cattle being cooped up for slaughter. It's one of those terms that has lost it's origin meaning and has become something else totally different. I don't think PETA should be doing ish like this until they've shutdown all the puppy mills where dogs are being kept in filthy crates too small for them to even stretch their legs. What a colossal waste of time this is.
October 29, 20214 yr I have thought about what it means briefly. I just assumed it was where they kept bulls during the rodeo before they are ridden. PETA is crazy.

November 1, 20214 yr What are the Phillies doing? Nothing. I know that free agency hasn't started yet, but they could be doing some things. Declining player option for Cutch , releasing Odubel. What else?

Is your plan to roll with Cutch and Odubel next year? My plan is to make room. Spotrac has the following for 2022: McCutchen $15mil salary or $3mil buyout Herrera $11.5mil salary or $2.5mil buyout $26.5mil salaries - $5.5mil buyouts = $21mil saved toward signing a free agent OF Go get Castellanos, Schwarber, or Marte. Trade for Buxton.

The nonprofit organization argued in a news release Thursday the longtime baseball term isn't "animal-friendly," per TMZ Sports. "Strike out the word 'bullpen,' which references the holding area where terrified bulls are kept before slaughter, in favor of a more modern, animal-friendly term," PETA wrote. Tracy Reiman, the organization's executive vice president, added: "Words matter, and baseball 'bullpens' devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals." While it's possible baseball's use of the term bullpen derived from actual bull pens, there are various theories about how the word became associated with pitchers, typically relievers. Arm Barn is stoopid. Bullpen is just fine the way it is. If they must, they could call it the Relief Pitcher Warm Up Area because that's what it is. Why doesn't PETA take issue with the leather wrapped around the baseballs? PETA is more worried about how bullpen makes them feel than the use of actual animal products in the game. What's next? Batting Cage? "Makes us feel trapped, like caged animals....blah, blah, blah, My nooni hurts."
