November 16, 20213 yr Sounds like a Spoiler Alert. Orel Herschiser is announcing the Cy Young, so I guess that means Scherzer?

Most IP, K's CG, Shutouts and batters faced He lost to a guy who played for a better team, who had a much better bullpen and who rarely pitched past the 6th inning. Pitched 46. 1 more innings and faced 192 more batters. 7.6 vs 5.6 WAR From an article I read: Wheeler's ERA in the first six innings of his starts was 2.42. Burnes' ERA in the first six innings of his starts was 2.48. Why does this matter? Because Wheeler pitched into the seventh inning 20 times. Burnes pitched into the seventh inning nine times. If Burnes was pushed beyond six innings more frequently, would his numbers have been the same? His opponents hit .314 with an .811 OPS the third time through the lineup compared to .165 with a .432 OPS the first two times. Telling.

If you weren’t a Phillies fan, there’s no way you’d be arguing for a guy with a record of 14-10 should win the Cy Young. Give me a break. He lost to a guy with a better record, better ERA and better strikeouts per 9 innings. There really wasn’t a clear CY Young season this past season, in the NL. But complaining that he should have won it, is like the NYGiants fans bishing that the Eagles F them out of a playoff spot last year. I know someone had to win it. I don’t think he was that deserving. Just because the other guy played on a better team has no bearing. Wheeler was the second tallest midget. Literally just cited a crap load of old stats and new stats but I'm a homer.... Literally every major sports site had Wheeler winning it. He literally made 139 more outs than Burnes.....
November 19, 20213 yr I think where Wheeler lost the cy young (besides the idiot that voted him for fifth place in the Cy Young voting), was the fact his August wasn’t very good. He had a 4.81 ERA and he gave a four or more earned runs in 5 of 6 starts. I’m sure Max Scherzer and burns had down stretches at some point in time but that was in the midst of the race and the Phillies had taken over first and then collapsed. I am guessing some held that against him.

And if he did win it, a ton of them would be questioning him winning it. Literally. Pretty sure most had him winning it. is this your attempt to get him to win it next year like you were able to do with Bryce?
November 19, 20213 yr 2 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said: No. It’s my way of telling Phillie fan homers to stop acting like NYG fans. Not an attempt. I just do it. Not seeing the correlation. Anyway, even so wheeler only lost by a pretty narrow margin. Do you think he should have placed lower?
November 19, 20213 yr I'm the Homer....... Coming from the dude who is the equivalent of a WIP caller on this site..... That's rich

C’mon I thought it was going to go to Max Scherzer because of what he did when he got to the Dodgers. In 11 starts with the Dodgers he was 7-0 with a 1.98 ERA and had 89 strikeouts to 8 walks. He also gave up less hits and only two more walks than burnes in 12 more innings pitched. Roughly the same amount of ERs 49 to 46. Pretty amazing scherzer had 236 strikeouts and wheeler had 247 strikeouts but he did it in 34 less innings. I feel like if he played for the Dodgers the entire year instead of just 11 starts, his numbers probably would’ve been even better because the nationals defense sucked. They were bottom 6 in the league. It definitely cost him in some of those games that said the guy who voted wheeler 5th is a jackass that should lose his vote. He was top 3 candidate. There was not 4 pitchers better in the NL than him.
