Official Philadelphia Phillies Thread - Still can't hit for crap

So my wife is dragging me to todays game. Normally I wouldn't mind attending a Phillies game in nice weather but......it's a 1:30pm start. We are in Central NJ so probably leave the house 11:30'ish. Let's assume 90 minutes to get home......and this is a work event for her so I can't leave after 1st inning! So.....is an hour and a half enough face time to get on the road by 3 to get home by 4:30'ish (might miss a little of the beginning of the game) for the Eagles.

Idk but you potentially get to see them clinch the division. Would be only the 13th time they won the NL east in their history. So you are getting a chance to witness history

True...and I get that...but then, do we go from game to like Chickie and Petes or Xfinity Live and watch the Eagles there? PS....used to be a blind drunk, gave up drinking 20 years ago so while I don't mind going to bars, I can only handle being around drunkin' idiots for so long. And if the game ends by 8......get home by 9:30 or so?

Additionally, the Division Title is nice but it's a given.....I think we can ALL agree they need to win the whole f'ing thing or really this season and run will be nothing more than a nice time instead of a Championship.

Or the other option is stay to watch them lock up/win the division and then listen to first half on the radio driving home..........

Sometimes radio is a welcome change..... half the game you don't have to listen to the same stupid commercials ? Limu Emu ? Progressive ? Always a plus.

PS....no matter what happens today, going to LA 3-0 they lock in the #2 seed at a minimum, 2-1 #2 seed almost a given, 1-2 work to be done to get the 2 seed and 0-3....butt puckering time.

Worst-case scenario (a Phillies loss and Dodgers win today), they would be going into the series up 4.5 with 12 to play.

So, they would be 7.5, 5.5, 3.5, or 1.5 up with 9 to play, depending on the results of the Dodgers series. Basically, as long as they win 1, they are in pretty good shape (although I never trust them to win games in Arizona). A win and a Dodgers loss today would be awesome...

Yup off a RHP. He’s barry bonds vs. RHP.

He can be a useful player if he's Barry Bonds against 75% of the pitchers in MLB. Especially if he could bring himself up to the level of Mario Mendoza against the other 25%.

Tbh i don’t expect every year he’s going to hit .340 against RHP like he has since May 1. I think there’s going to be a regression closer to around 275-290. Which is why him hitting LHP at like a .240 clip would solidify him as an everyday player. getting a chance today to see what he can do against LHP as they have him starting over weston Wilson cause Sosa is hurt and don’t want to play Walton. He’s exactly at .200 vs. LHP since coming back up. However only 55 at bats. But really he’s been awful vs. LHP since july 1 where he’s hitting .135/.200/.162/.362 and that’s the majority of of the 55 ABs (37)

Have you listened to an eagles game on the radio lately? It's nonstop commercials they advertise sheet in between plays for F sakes

Crappy nola back. Castellanos not helping by being a ***** in RF

Up 2-0 to down 6-2 in the blink of an eye. Thomson needs to be understand that Nola is a 5 inning pitcher now. If he can give you a 5 inning shutout, count your blessings then go to the bullpen.

That contract is going to be an albatross. It is going to prevent them from signing both Ranger and luzardo back. They never should’ve given him 7 year. Should’ve went max 4 with a mutual option for a 5th. I don’t how anyone thought 7 years with him entering his 30s with that amount of wear and tear was a smart idea

Mets won so can’t clinch today. Hope the dodgers and brewers lose.

Thank you Nola....your implosion allowed me to leave the game and make it home to watch the Eagles! Plus....shockingly....it was f'ing hot at the game.

So no 4.5 on dodgers and still 2 behind the brewers

Matchups according to espn are

Game 1: Ranger vs. Sheehan

Game 2: Sanchez vs. Ohtani

Game 3: luzardo vs. snell.

Really would like to take 2 of 3 but really just don’t get swept. Really game 1 is the best matchup slanted a lot in our favor. Sanchez is better than Ohtani this year but Ohtani has been better throwing lately albeit he’s not going deep into games. Snell is better than luzardo

he was a good sport giving up all those HRs this year

"Have you ever wanted to have a little Bader in you? Well now you can and with only $20 wrap your lips around his tots with Bader Tots now serving at the ballpark for the remainder of the season.”

"It’s a big hit with the ladies Tom”

Nice start

Phillies picked a good time for the bats to go into a slump. Last 12 innings have 4 solo HRs and 6 hits.

That 3rd run will probably do it. This team looks like it has no interest in doing anything at the plate. Not unexpected as they tend to be awful whenever they have to play on the road the next day without an off day.
