Best move the Phillies made this offseason was signing 17 year old Francisco Renteria. He may or may not work out (most 17 year olds don't)...but that's where their money should be going. And to be brutally honest, that's their timeline. Invest in building the best farm system you can. Ours is consistently underwhelming. No need to overpay JT. And with how this offseason played out, honestly, that money is wasted on extending Schwarber. I'd have spent it on signing 5 of the top 10 international prospects instead.

First, Dave probably wasn’t livid. He was probably cranky cause he needs a nap. Secondly them being livid they should be livid at themselves. They have needed that middle of the order right handed back for three years since Hoskins got hurt. They sat around and waited all the way until January 2026 to finally commit to doing it. If you would’ve committed to doing it multiple years prior, you wouldn’t have gotten yourself into the situation that you did.
