If painter and nola continue to struggle with no improvement and he does very well in double A might get him after the all star break or around there. Give him a couple starts to see if they need to trade for a starter
May 18May 18 Get why schwarber is out with illness. Why do we have marsh out against lodolo who has a near 9 era even if he’s LHP. At this point kemp sucks might as well jus rely marsh play especially without schwarber tonight

May 18May 18 Kemp is playing because DD wants to shove him down our throat like he did with Walker to justify his decision to put him on the 26 man roster. That's the only explanation.
May 19May 19 Painter at just 69 pitches. Wonder if he goes out for the 7th as it would be his longest outing in terms of innings for the year

May 19May 19 Offense continues to be feast or famine. 3 hits and 3 runs against one of the worst starters in the NL over his last 3 starts

Piss off Keller and Alvarado. You know how great this team could be if we weren’t wasting like $100 mil + on bad contracts/ players and had better players with that money. Nola, Walker, Garcia, Castellanos, Alvarado, realmuto and Keller. Without the luxury tax that’s $108 mil.

I wonder if those wasted contracts are brought up to Middleton. That would definitely irritate me if I were him but then again, Middleton was the one who hired him and continues to stick by him.

Should have a better RF, 5th starter and bullpen arm with that type of money.

A risky move but it is obvious it has paid off. Now the 5th starter is Nola and while he is expensive he doesn't suck more than 90% of the other 5th starters out there. Now if Luzardo can just get some consistency we'd be a "good Painter" away from having a great rotation.btw - Who's been playing 3rd base the last few weeks?

He’s actually been one of the worst starters in baseball over the last month. He hasn’t gotten through 5 innings in 4 of last 5 starts and has an era of 7.71 over that time. So not only has he been bad outside of 1 start he isn’t eating innings. Even with painter not being great, he’s at least giving you 5 or more innings in 4 of his last 5 starts. Even with luzardo being inconsistent has given you 6+ in 3 of 5 starts. The issue is the Phillies have a combined $43 mil on Nola and Walker. One isn’t even in the majors and Nola might wind up getting placed on IL if gage wood pitches well in double A for a couple months. Think it is telling that they moved him up to double A this early in the season (total of 9 career starts in single A before the promotion)
