I hate being negative but the only way this team is going to compete for a title the next 2-3 years is if they go over that luxury tax. Their farm system and player development isn’t where it needs to be to push them into a contender role without overspending for the next couple years . Frankly i think 2 years from now when wheeler is on the decline, realmuto likely on the decline that they’ll realize they need to do a rebuild and begin tearing it down again.

Rockies don't look like they are really going to compete. What's the point in signing Kris Bryant at $27Mil per year? Gotta sell tickets? Gonna sell some jerseys?

Might not be this year but definitely within the next 2 years i see then using him as a trade chip to get prospects. His numbers are going to be inflated by coors and they aren’t going anywhere in that division with the padres, giants and dodgers way ahead of him.
