Obviously the better year he has the better it is for the Phillies. I wonder if the Phillies attach a qualifying offer to him this winter, especially if he has a good year. I kind of said this during the off-season, I don’t think painter is pitching until the end of June so Suarez will be a starter til then. Usually he needs a month off during the season cause he gets hurt or tired. I think when that happens, they are going to move Suarez back to the bullpen and he’s going to be their left-handed reliever with Alvarado in the BP. So it’s going to strengthen their bullpen. And in the postseason, you really don’t need Suarez to be the starter if you’re going with Wheeler, Nola, Sanchez and luzardo. So Ranger can be used in a ton of different ways in the postseason.
March 5, 20251 yr So vlad? Meanwhile could’ve given Hoskins a 1 year prove it deal with a year 2 option if this were true

If Suarez tires out again mid-season, he's gonna cost himself a lot of money. Supposedly he's in better shape this year but apparently his fastball only topped out at 89mph in his last start. Granted it's only spring training but might be something to monitor.

I know Rhys didn't have a great season with the Brewers last year but on the Phillies, he could have provided that RH power bat they desperately needed.

Honestly the most irritating part of this is everyone who argued Harper can’t go back to outfield due to wear and tear. It was a BS argument. If he was gonna significantly breakdown having 1-3 more years in LF/RF then we have much bigger issues coming. IMO the window is now not 5-6 years from now when he’s likely not great and we aren’t competing. The best hitting version of the Phillies offensively was still Harper in LF/RF and Hoskins at 1b on the contract he got from The brewers. Heck could’ve given Hoskins some DH games and out Harper at first and used schwarber in OF like they occasionally have

March 6, 20251 yr First time at a spring training game. Unfortunately it's the Mutts 😆. I'll head to clearwooder to see the Phils on 3/15.
March 7, 20251 yr Honestly, if he doesn’t do it this year I think he just is what he is. A platoon corner outfielder. I really don’t wanna hear the same thing next year if he doesn’t do it. My biggest issue with Brandon marsh is that he’s got the same flaws since he got here. He can’t hit LHP consistently, he strikes out too much and he’s better in the corners than CF. he’s been somewhat better than what he was with the angels, but you traded one of your top 75 prospects (which most teams don’t do for players you have to fix) assuming that you could fix those issues and be the player everybody envisioned when he was a highly touted prospect

March 8, 20251 yr I know it’s spring training but really everyone not named Harper, Bohm, Kepler and realmuto in our starting lineup has looked awful.

March 10, 20251 yr Strahm with shoulder stiffness. Hopefully it's nothing serious but something to monitor. If he's out for an extended period of time, not sure who would fill in for high leverage spots.

They really don’t have the horses in the bullpen this year. An injury to one of the core four relievers (Strahm, Romano, Alvarado, Kerkering) could be disastrous as there is no high leverage depth behind them.
March 10, 20251 yr https://www.crossingbroad.com/2025/03/matt-strahm-dealing-with-shoulder-inflammation.html Good news i guess. Hopefully rest will be the cure all. If not, then DD needs to at least have an eye on another guy or two to bring in.
