Bryson Stott beginning to hit again. They changed where he keeps his bat. He’s hitting it off the bat with more exit velocity. I’m curious to see what his exit velocity has been since they made that change.

Wow that was a heck of play by Stott and good catch by Harper to get Garcia

He’s out

Huge to win the first two. First beating Kelly and degrom. Secondly have wheeler on the mound for a sweep at a place we lost 10 games in a row and hadn’t won at in over a decade before these last two.

Honestly, it’s why fans should’ve been somewhat concerned when the Phillies were like 26-29 after their hot start. Some teams are able to pull themselves out of it and get back to where they were. but sometimes it snowballs, then getd worse and you just can’t get out of it. Like last year the Phillies got themselves into his mediocrity phase. After London they went 51-51 to end the season. they look the same as they did pretty much after London in the nlds. Thankfully we got Duran who i kind of think gave them a boost of energy. Even bader has. He hasn’t hit great but he seems to always come up in a big spot and either get a hit or a walk.

It simplifies the game. If you can get 6 IP from your starters and 9th is Duran. You just need to find 6 outs. Tbh the Phillies season is likely coming down to what the offense does in the playoffs and if Orion, strahm, banks and Robertson are going to be good enough to be the bridge to Duran

Phils 12-8 in 20 straight interleague games, which I think is a record (most interleague games played in a row)

Only got 3 interleague series left and all at home.

After reds and Nats series the Phillies have just 15 road games left and 23 home games left. Although their road games the rest of the year outside of the Nats and dbacks is pretty rough. 3 at reds, 4 at Nats, 3 at Mets, 3 at brewers, 3 at Miami, 3 at LA, 3 at dbacks. I’d say Miami is not hard but we tend to not play well down in Miami and marlins are playing well since beginning of July

What is the point of suspending Jose then bringing him back and banning him from the playoffs? Suspended him for the year or allow him to pitch post season.

Idk i think mlb changes the rule cause some were suspended for 80 games late in the year and forced them to miss the postseason too. but it didn’t count towards the 80 games even though they were suspended. Meanwhile a guy could get suspended early be back and play in the playoffs. So they just avoided the whole issues by making it you aren’t eligible for the playoffs if you get suspended for performance enhancing drugs.

Tbh I’m curious to see if the players union asks for that to be changed in the new cba

Dear God...... the stupid b.s. with Marsh

The guy is in a grove but sit him down because it's a lefty...... ain't gonna ever figure it out by sitting. BP is nowhere near the same as live.

But sit him down anyway and play another guy who CANT HIT EITHER..... b.s..... keep the hot player in the lineup.... and get a routine going...... players thrive on routines.

This team has no standard because they keep trying to be the smartest in the room and play analytics......

Marsh LF Bader CF and Casty RF...... and be freaking done.

This public service announcement is brought to you by old school baseball thinking by an old school guy.

They frankly need to see if marsh can hit LHP. He is in his 5th year as a mlb. The time to see if he can sink or swim vs LHP is now. He’s shown he can hit RHP and be effective. However since May 1 when he got called back up he’s seen just 17.9% of his total plate appearances against LHP. That would be a career low. I felt this way before, they basically aren’t going to allow him to see LHP consistently this year cause he’s been hitting so well vs. RHP. I’d bet a lot of money it comes down to they think if he struggles vs. LHP that it’ll bleed into his at bats against RHP and he’d go into another major slump. Like he was seeing 33% of his plate appearances vs. LHP in March and april (would’ve been on pace for career high) with 44% K rate. I guarantee they saw and figured when he got called back up he’s not seeing LHP anywhere close to that.

Him and Stott are hot right now. I’m guessing neither playing today due to LHP in Corbin

I’m actually surprised Stott is starting. Then again i think they are over kemp at 3b cause defensively he’s awful

I actually thought when they called up painter they’d do this. But i could see it when nola returns and keeping Walker in the rotation. Walker has surprisingly been fine as a 5th starter. It allows more rest for Sanchez and wheeler. Kind also think the Phillies realize Sanchez and wheeler aren’t beating out skenes for cy young

Tough week to be a yankee reliever

I think clarity makes the rest of the bullpen better. You know that the starter is getting you 6. If they don’t, then a loss isn’t on the bullpen anyway, especially with the way this team is constructed.

They go into games looking for 6 outs. 6 outs amongst Kerkering, Strahm, Robertson….soon Luzardo.

That’s a tipping point and a big difference from the old get the starter through 6 and see what happens amongst a random combination of 7+ from the starter and everyone in the pen getting inserted at random non predetermined points in the game.

It's all I am saying..... let him go for the rest of the year...... somebody on the team has to keep him positive against LHP so as not to sink his mindset..... but just run him out there. The K K duo is not hitting either.... Kepler is farther along in his career..... he's not going to have a breakthrough..... Kemp is JAG..... but Marsh might just figure it out.

When I was a kid ..... it was a huge deal justbto be dropped down in the batting order.... the bench ?..... didn't happen..... you had to be injured to be on the bench or you were just a replacement with a weak bat.... but with a decent glove.

Honestly I would dump the entire outfield for next year..... even the AAA players and start over.

Then of course I would dump half the infield... even the AAA guys.

Then dump half of the starting pitching and half the pen

Man I am so glad the football season is starting.
