Too bad the Braves are hotter

I think they have lost 2 straight. Cooling off, maybe.

Aren't both teams something like 14 -2 in their last 16 games? Thought I saw that somewhere. Too lazy to actually look it up. 🙃

That was a hell of a play he made. Saved a run  for the time being

Mucho Munoz!!!!

Hats off to Nola he’s been pretty damn good since the beginning of may his era is below 3. He and wheeler are really rolling right now.

Bro. got free tix to the game today from work. Damn, if I'd have known it'd be this kind of game, I'd have shot down to DC in heartbeat.

Stott can’t hit and he can’t get the bunt down. And out slides the base

Wow that ball felt like it was gone when Bell hit it.

Why can’t we just Fing use Dominguez as the closer? The kid has the best stuff

The Phillies are now 0-10 with bases loaded and no outs on the season.

$4.99 per month..... There's 2 games on it and one is tomorrow and another against the Cubs in July.

And isn't there an AppleTV series too?

Absolute horseshit

Yes Apple Tv series end of July but that is free

And I was wrong about that. Sorry.

If Eflin is out for a long period of time and it’s apparently his surgically repaired knee then the Phillies need to go out and get a starter. They don’t need a top end of the rotation guy just a 3-4 starter. I’d take a chance on German Marquez if the Rockies. He has upside to be a good no. 2. Been rather poor this year especially at home at coors but his stuff is still electric. I think you could get him cheap and have the Rockies pay for some of his salary. Chance new team that he can revert back to what he was in 2020 and 2021.

Realistic Closer/Bullpen options:

Quote

Daniel Bard, Rockies

Bard is 37, but he's been ageless for the Rockies converting 14 of 16 save opportunities for Colorado. He has a 1.98 ERA in 27.1 innings this season and with an expiring contract, might be a relatively cheap deadline acquisition.

Gregory Soto, Tigers

He has 13 saves this season and a 2.88 ERA over 25 innings for the Tigers, but he may be a tad more pricy than Bard. Soto is 27 and will be arbitration eligible for the next few seasons, leading to free agency four years from now in 2026. He was an All-Star last year and the Tigers would likely ask for a relatively decent package as he'll have some suitors in July.

Joe Barlow, Rangers

Another relatively young ace reliever, Barlow is 26 and has one of the best sliders in baseball right now. He has a 3.09 ERA in Texas right now and is under team control for three seasons.

David Bednar, Pirates

Bednar's 33.2 innings show he can be durable and pitch often. In that span, he's saved 11 games with a 1.34 ERA. With a season of team control ahead in 2023, the 27-year-old might get some serious interest at the trade deadline and could be pricy.

Dany Jimenez, Athletics

According to The Athletic's Jim Bowen, the A's might be willing to part with their new closer for a position-playing prospect. Jimenez has closed out 11 of 13 games this season.

Jorge Lopez, Orioles

Lopez is wasting a breakout season with lowly Baltimore. In 34.1 innings, he has an ERA of 0.79 and 11 saves. He'll be under team control for two more seasons.

Mark Melancon, Diamondbacks

Here's a seasoned veteran who has saved 255 games over a solid career as a reliever. He has 11 of them this season with the non-contending D'backs. He's under contract next year and has a mutual option on 2024, and has an inflated ERA due to two bad outings over 22.1 innings.

Scott Barlow, Royals

He has a 1.55 ERA and eight saves for the Royals right now but has two more years of team control. He'll be moved for the right price later this summer.

Tanner Rainey, Nationals

We'll finish this esteemed list with a name known in the NL East, Washington's flame-throwing Rainey who has a 3.43 ERA and seven saves for the struggling Nats. He won't be a free agent until 2026 (thanks to some service time manipulation).

Are any of these guys injury-prone or generally ineffective? That's the guy for the Phils.

Me whenever the Phillies load the bases with no outs:

The real kicker this weekend was when they loaded the bases on three walks and then three guys in a row struck out.

Yup. That to me was the worst of them. The guy was wild and then they start swinging at everything. Frankly with Harper out this lineup goes to crap. without harper on Friday night in the second game of the double header they likely lose. Next two games score 2 and 3 runs

The next 24 before the all star break is going to tell a lot because our schedule has 16 of 24 against teams with winning records plus the marlins who we have issues with.

2 at texas

4 at padres

3 vs. atlanta

3 vs. St. Louis

3 vs. nats

4 at St. Louis

2 at toronto

3 at Miami

If they can manage to for like 14-10 would be pretty significant. I’m not banking on that.
