Love how Howie finally starts drafting high caliber SEC players and suddenly he reaches the Super Bowl

It's amazing how that works.  To bad we didn't draft the highest caliber SEC player instead of the one from TCU.

I've stated before I work with a big mush.

He predicted the NYG would beat the Eagles, didn't happen.

He predicted the Cowboys would beat the 49ers, didn't happen.

He predicted it would be a 49ers-Bengals SB, didn't happen.

I know this guy is going to tell me the Chiefs are winning it because he loves Mahomes.

Could be a good sign.

If he says Eagles are winning though then we're F e d.

Care to clue us in on WTF you're talking about?

Not sure where you're getting the impression that anyone's losing sleep over it, but I know there are guys like Franklin who put a futures bet at the beginning of the season for the Eagles to win it all, and now that it's down to the final game, he wants to hedge his bet (a way to bet against your previous bet to guarantee a profit at reduced winnings.) For anyone like him, watching the line closely is important to maximize return.

Mostly true. I only bet the Eagles to win the NFC, so the hedging I had to do is now over. I had to bet the Giants and 49ers the past two weeks. I actually miscalculated something and put a little more on SF than I should have and wound up getting about 45% of what I would have won had I simply let the Eagles bet ride. And I’m good with that because the when the initial bet was made, that had always been my intention. I effect, I was just betting that the Eagles would be contenders, and if they were, I could make a profit.

The preseason Super Bowl bet I made was coincidentally on Kansas City. I thought they were the best team in the league a year ago and thought that Andy would find a way to make the offense click even after losing Tyreek Hill, kinda like what he did with Stallworth after TO departed. The 10:1 odds seemed a good value bet. So now to hedge that bet into a small profit (there is one extra week of hedging so the profit won’t come close to what I made on the Eagles NFC bet), I have to bet the Eagles to win.

That and I don't think we can deny any longer the importance of Julian Lurie.

FYP, as it is quite clear to US what he is talking about.

The true MVP

I expect not to hear about the lack of reps in the preseason next year.

I know there is some randomness to injuries, but the underlying approach has been unquestionably successful.

Expect in one hand and crap in the other

Ehhh I don't know about that - I think Andy's got another clock management disaster in him

The Prince that was promised

I do feel bad for him.  There was obviously no ill intent, and it was a bang bang play, and he knew every yard counted towards a game winning FG attempt.  You still have to know where you are, but it was close enough in the most important moment of the game.

And yet, they were penalties... and Shanahan had the opportunity to challenge the completion to Smith and chose not to.   Refs missed the fumble for Purdy, Eagles challenged it and they got the call right.  Shanahan had the same opportunity, but didn't take advantage of it.  That timeout was too precious to him, compared to the change of possession that would have resulted from challenging it.

As for the penalties, the 49ers defense was clutching and grabbing all day, and played undisciplined football.  They got called for real fouls.  Maybe if they hadn't committed so many penalties they wouldn't have been able to stop plays... like the DPI on Goedert, as an example.  If he's not grabbed and held, maybe he's open and they can convert for a first down without a call.   But, then again, that's why these infractions are penalties, because they hinder the offense from executing.

Boo-hoo.  The 49ers played dirty... and were caught with their hands in the cookie jar on multiple occasions.   I'm not going to feel bad for them.  I'd have preferred watching a cleaner game, but they chose to break the rules thinking that it would give them the advantage.  It backfired on them.

Sure - I don't believe how we won cheapened the victory.  I was anticipating a heavyweight match, and what I got was a 1st round knockout (our D vs their O) and a frustrating contest where the 9ers D just wanted to tie us up and occasionally throw low blows.  It must of been a miserable game to a neutral observer.

Sirianni has the edge on game day coaching decisions. Andy has the edge the other 13 days.

This is what is in my head... and the images fit this team.   Running game, smash mouth football and DL dominance.

Love me sum Dick....yeah I said it...as long as it's Butkus!!

Richard Marvin Butkus, Midway Monster. Grew up watching him completely overwhelm offenses with Richard Dent, et al...what a time to be a young football fan...
