We saw signs of this defense all year, but we denied it because they got a lot of sacks. Turns out the narrative that they suck against the better QBs was a true one. Prescott lit this defense up too. 

To be the best you gotta beat the best. Philly didn't do that tonight.

That Hurts fumble sucked, but we scored the next drive and were up by 10 at the half. Mahomes was at his best. That penalty is horseshit. And unacceptable. But Hurts was great. I’ll never understand that call, or the defensive scheme. 
 

Earlier in the game, I wanted that Devonta catch called back because I didn’t want to win on some BS. We lost on some way more egregious BS. Maybe we wouldn’t have come back. But we deserved that stop. The ball was overthrown and not catchable, on top of the fact that it was minimal contact within five yards. I’m not one to whine about refs. But that wasn’t the way a team should lose any football game. Especially this game. The defense was pathetic in the second half, but also, they got the ball out quickly. They mitigated our pass rush. Cool. But we stopped them fair and square and had two minutes to kick a FG. It’s hard to process, really.

We got to the SB. We lost and there were a lot of plays and decisions that I didn't like on offense and defense

But we got to the SB and only 2 teams in the league can say that

Winning SB LII helped settle my nerves for tonight as well.

Also surprised at some saying we won't make it back to the SB anytime soon. Have to put it down to raw emotions. I think we'll remain competitive for a few years yet as long as Howie keeps doing his thing.

I mean, gotta keep your head up at least a little otherwise what's the point...

We're likely going to lose a lot of talent on defense but the NFC as a whole is wide open. We can easily get back

Why won't Hurts play better? 

The bad calls in the biggest spots really test my fandom and passion for the NFL.

It's tough to be on the wrong end of one. Really, really tough.

You saw the signs early on that the Eagles were needing 15, 16 plays to score and the Chiefs were moving the ball right down the field. 
 

Combine that with the fact that Hurts was the one getting pressured in the 2nd half, not the gimpy Mahomes, and that was the game. This defense wasn’t going to win getting absolutely zero pass rush. And on the offense they couldn’t establish the run but the chiefs did.

The Eagles lost in the areas they needed to win.

Offseason priorities:

1. Give Hurts his money, but strike while the SB disappointment is fresh.  If he wants to be on the winning side, he’s got to give them some cap flexibility.  
 

2.  Sign CJGJ.  
3.  Let walk: Sanders, Bradberry, Hargrave, White, Seumalo.

4.  Sign one of Cox or Suh.

5.  Modest effort to re-sign Edwards and Epps.

6.  Draft CB, OL, edge early.

7.  Draft RB, WR, DT mid rounds.

8.  I’m letting a lot of people walk and ideally maintaining cap flexibility.  If there is a young FA at CB/DL/RG that could actually be an immediate upgrade and long term solution, then look into making it happen.

Hurts is a good as there  is except Mahomes 

Makes me feel (a little) better that every neutral fan is also trashing the refs. Still sucks though.

Whatever slight marginal improvements he makes is not going to result in that much of a better offensive product on the field.
