Eagles and sirianni need to send tape to the league and show them so they are watching for it.

Shame on them if they haven't already.

Interesting word choice.  I think it should depend on his kidney.  Lattimore missed 10 weeks with a lacerated kidney.   There are very different levels of severity, and we never were told what it was.

Anyone who can play….needs to.  Anyone who can’t, well, that doesn’t matter.

Im just operating under the (potentially false) assumption that most of our walking wounded aren’t going to be a whole lot better in 1 week when they’d be asked to play in the wild card than they will against the Giants.

And that certainly includes Lane, who Id start against the Giants.

Dallas clicking their heels about the potential one seed, now.

We lost

Vikings are gonna lose

49ers losing.

Eases the pain a little bit that the Bucs won, which means the Saints are out of the hunt (I think). Caps the damage being done to that pick.

9ers losing, Vikings losing takes away some pressure. If that holds, now Dallas is the last team vying for the #1 seed with us. Hopefully they screw it up.

Giants winning means theres a chance they rest players next week. (Though I wouldnt if I was them. In your division, you play spoiler imo.)

But other than this loss, and its a bad one. Really, really bad. The rest of the day has been a good eagles day.

The final week can be announced 6 days prior, so we'll know either tonight, or by Tuesday at the latest.

And during the game today the announcers said there’d be an announcement tomorrow about which games would be on Saturday, which makes sense as you need to see the state of play.

I normally watch the late window games but I’m not really watching them after the eagles game as I was in a bad mood. I did go back and watch the first half which won’t go down as my best choice one day into a new year.

Likely to be flexed to the SNF game as well... like they do.

Oh, ratings. Of course. They do their thing, we'll do ours.

We do well in Primetime. Hurts will be back, We'll have our head out of our a$$ and the Giants will go down.

Set the NFC East Showdowns for the Construct and all is good with the League, moving forward.

If that's what the Shield wants, bring it. We don't care...

The thing about sitting Hurts when he can play (and every one of his teammates knows he can play) is that it sends the message that they aren't all in going into the game.  You can throw out all records every week in the NFL because it is all about who wants it most.  Sitting your best player when he can go just reeks of not wanting it.  Players sense that and opposing teams sense that.

I agree with your point...to a point. I am 100% sure that every NFL player wants the team to prioritize the player's health above the needs of the team. Playing Hurts below 100% healthy because the team needs to lock up HFA might sound like the best plan, but if Hurts aggravates his shoulder even worse and risks having Hurts for the entire playoffs, then the team risks the overall goal of winning a Super Bowl (and we all know that is the team's goal). At the same time you hear the arguments that Hurts being out for 34 days and playing the first playoff game rusty is a potential problem and it might be a significant problem. You also hear the arguments that the Birds need HFA more than any other team.

These arguments just seem like a "damned if you do or damned if you don't" situation!!!

well, San Fran is already back within 3. Theyre gonna win I guess.

Dallas has to play starters next week too. Bucs are definitely resting starters.

Eagle 45 is right, they have to play everyone next week.

It is an absolute must win, because they aren’t making any kind of meaningful run from the 5th seed.

To go from 13-1 or whatever, to losing the 1 seed in a three game skid... Yeesh. That’s the wrong kind of momentum.

The raiders aren’t going to beat SF lol

Agreed.  My only statement is that none of us knows the severity of the lacerated kidney for Gardner-Johnson, so the 'need' word shouldn't be thrown out in ignorance.

I agree that anyone that can play (without danger of injuring it worse, especially something like a kidney) should play.  But, that's the thing with CJGJ... it's not about just playing through pain... it's a little more serious than that.  So, I wouldn't want him out there unless he was actually 100% healthy with that kidney.

Yeah, I hear you but it just seems like the teams that win it all are the ones that give it all.  If Hurts had played last week and they had won, then we would not even be in this position and could have rested all the starters this week.  Now, they are in a must win next game.  Bet if Hurts had his preference he would have played because he know he could help his team win and lock up the #1

The Eagles are facing real adversity for the first time.

Losing on the road to Dallas is one thing. Losing at home to NO is another. If they don't bounce back against NYG, then it's over in the playoffs anyway. Good time for the boys to sack up.

I’d never judge a player on not playing through pain…only on objective availability.

But in this case…the only judgement is on the team holding back on players that theoretically are safe to play (and with adequate pain control) simply because they don’t "need” to win and can "probably” win anyway.

Of Lane, Hurts, CJGJ, the low touches for Sanders, the constant zone defense…I think a lot of those issues are due to that approach.

Yup.  They clinched today.  There is no reason for them to play their starters.   Saints and Panthers... both are eliminated now.  Who knows how that will go?   And Atlanta is actually bad enough, they might lose to the Bucs backups.  I don't think it matters if the Falcons do win.  I think the SOS still puts them picking before the Saints either way those games go.  But we still need the Panthers to beat the Saints, because we can't have the Saints getting to 8 wins.

If they lose this week to the Giants their season is definitely over. They should just hand over their playoff spot to a more worthy team.

Im really not that compelled by the Hurts angle.  Minshew should have played better and the coaches should have prepared the team better.

When Dak went down the entire Cowboys team stepped up.  When Lance and the  Jimmy G went down, the entire 49ers team stepped up.  We lose Hurts and played and coached like dog ish.

The Eagles are showing themselves to be more Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens than 49er or Cowboy.

I agree.

I said it a few weeks back but today reminded me...I hate Taysom Hill.  I just absolutely hate him.

Also, can't ignore this at all.  Why not give him help?  Run the ball.  Quick throws.

The drop-off from Lane Johnson to Jack Driscoll is monstrous. The third-year lineman was overmatched against Saints edge rusher Cam Jordan, who finished with 3.0 sacks, four quarterback hits, and a forced fumble.

You know what both those teams did...

They RAN THE BALL!   🤔

CGCJ is in a different spot than the rest of the team. Lattimore had a similar injury and missed 12 weeks. CJGJ has missed 6. Lacerated kidney is not a joke.

The Eagles have been conservative with injuries all year. They gave Goedert an extra week. They eased Avonte Maddox and Jordan Davis back in. This is also why we haven't had any recurring injuries. No one has missed time because they came back too soon.

If Minshew doesn't suck today, we're not discussing this.
