One defensive stop probably would have done it. Just one. They couldn't get a single 2nd half stop. Just so unacceptable.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Mcnabb pissed one away and the 2022 defense pissed one away.

Meh... I blame LJ Smith more than McNabb for 2004.

Sick of the constant lovefest around him. I think I'm just petty though.

Yeah, I'm completely tired of them. It probably ain't slowing down any time soon though.

He doesn’t have the arm strength to make those throws.  It is what it is.

I think he can make the throw, he’s constantly looking down the field when he does. There’s just nobody fighting to get open it seems.

Could just blame Reid for drafting him over Witten too

Gannon is exposed when the pass rush can’t get there.  Spags on the other hand has blitz packages in his bag.

Tonight we needed something different but Gannon had nothing.

Yup. He runs a very simplistic defense. If the pass rush isn’t getting there, and the quarterback has time to throw, they’re going to pick it apart if they are a good quarterback. They didn’t really even get picked apart by Patrick Mahomes like they could’ve tonight cause they couldn’t stop the run either. That said when Patrick Mahomes complete 79% of his passes the last two times you’ve played him, you might have to change what you’re doing. Because it’s not working. Mahomes has had 12 incompletions on 57 passes in the last two games against Gannon. At some point in time you have say it’s not working

The issue besides just played turnover is that likely not going to have the same type of injury luck all year next year. To have 22 of 22 starters from week 1 playing in the SB is a rarity. I think the offense can still get better going forward. Hurts works hard so I’m guessing he’ll be as good next year and likely somewhat better. Can add another Wr to replace Watkins. I do think losing seumalo will hurt. And i think sanders replacement can be successful behind that line.

I think the biggest issue for the Eagles in 2023 is what are they gonna do on defense. You’re not extending all those guys. 7 starters are FA. I love fletcher and graham but i think it’s time to turn the page unless Graham or cox are willing to come back at a really reduced salary which i kind of doubt. Graham is on a snap count and Cox really isn’t worth the money he likely thinks he’s owed.

I think you let edwards and white both go. in todays nfl i don’t believe they are good enough against joker echelon offenses. They will get exploited. Id go Dean and try to look to add another Lb via the draft. I’d bring back CJGJ and hargrave. I’d say Bradberry but i think someone pays him. I’d probably address CB high in the draft. Imo I would actually rather have Bradberry than slay at the stages of their career. I think slay is starting to decline and felt Like as the season continued on he wasn’t as good.  And he’s going to be 32 next year. However, I think the Eagles due to contract have him back next year.

I really hope Gannon takes that Cardinals job. I was on the fence earlier today because Fangio is going to Miami and who you have to replace Gannon doesn’t really have the experience you want with a team that’s likely a contender in the NFC. But now it’s painfully obvious he doesn’t know how to game plan against better QBs. I don’t think it’s changing any time soon either. He runs what he runs and is too stubborn to realize it doesn’t work being that basic against those teams. With the talent we have there’s no reason we couldn’t have held mahomes and the chiefs in the 20s like cincy has done the last 3 games.  It’s painfully obvious Gannon is simply not good enough against better offenses/QBs

One thing that would be a huge help is that if maybe like 9 of Zech McPhearson, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship, Davion Taylor, Marlon Tuipulotu, Marvin Wilson, Janarius Robinson, Andre Chachere, Tarron Jackson, Mac McCain, Josh Jobe and Mario Goodrich could be solid contributors. Maybe a year on the PS helped Davion Taylor more than we know.  Can Robinson and Jackson add young juice at DE?  McCain, Jobe, McPhearson and Goodrich...can any of you step up to be CB2?  Chachere was solid at S last year.  We need some of these young guys to play big roles next year and some of the others to contribute more than PS snaps.

Gannon seems like the type of guy where when plan A doesn’t go as expected he doesn’t know what to do.

If I’m a coordinator heading into a Super Bowl I would have had tertiary plans, blitz packages, etc all lined up just so if the plan doesn’t go as expected I have options.

Yikes.

Why couldn't we blitz more, put a guy on Kelce the way they had Justin Reid on Goedert, play more man than zone. Pretty simple common sense things I thought going into the game.

Do we even know the cap implications if he comes back?

He's vital to us returning to a potential Super Bowl. Just pay him I say

Didn't you see Hurts getting flushed out more than usual?  Seemed to me there were at least 5-7 plays where there was pressure up the middle with Hurts running a big 15 yard loop just to get to the sideline and get rid of the ball.

I thought a lot of that was caused by Willie Gay.

He was pressured some, but you called it constant pressure up the middle. I didn’t see pass protection as a real issue tonight at all.

Im guessing Dean, Davis, Blankenship might be starters next year. I’d sign CJGJ and pair him with Blankenship look for depth at safety. The rest of those guys i think are just backups and depth. Gonna need to use 10 and 31 and our second to infuse some starters into the defense. Hopefully a pass rusher and Cb and maybe on the middle rounds a Lb.

We have an over abundance of anger and venting.  We need go no further than the anger and venting in Memphis to see what havoc that brings.  I’m done.  Enjoy yourself.

Dude. It’s an Eagles message board. The Eagles just lost a heartbreaker after the best season we have ever seen, in the most important game of the season. Give people time to express themself. I’m not even coming at you with anger, I’m just saying whatever approach you have will incense the already angry. Just try to read the room. Fan is short for fanatic, no? Let people be fanatic for tonight. You can express your feelings. Other people can to. People being pissed off tonight will help them tomorrow. There’s not going to be "havoc” by people being angry on a message board.

I didn't understand at all how some of you were beyond confident the last 2 weeks the Eagles were going to win this game.

Could they have? Yes absolutely but to act like it was a done deal is insane.  Football is the most unpredictable sport there is.

Think we’ve seen the last of Miles Sanders.

Maybe we can start the Howie sucks threads again 🙂

Very concerned going into FA. He likes extending "his" guys. If he brings back Edwards and Epps and they're starters, this defense will not be that good. I didn't like paying Maddox all that money when they did and I still don't think it was smart looking at it now.
Howie drafting defensive players has not been good either. I liked the Davis pick but man, he better make some serious improvements next year.

Think I would have felt more confident facing the Bengals tbh. Also wouldn't begrudge them their first SB if they won it...

I was a fan through and through but what a weird year. Especially in the playoffs and tonight, woof!!!

I agree with this. The Chiefs defense, which was regarded as the weakest of the Final Four defenses, was much much better than the Eagles defense tonight. Credit to the Eagles still converting on those 3rd and 4th downs and putting up 35 points.

Honestly, the Bengals defense played them MUCH tougher. And that was on the road in KC.

Could have had 4 more with a TD at the end... and a missed FG.  And...  likely would have had another TD had Big Red gone for the 4th down rather than settle for the FG.

Bad game by the defense, no doubt. Worse by Gannon.  He was owned.

I'm fine with Bradberry going. Nice year, no doubt. Decent tonight but the hold was just, horrible. I also saw him getting beat tonight so I'm fine with him going for his cost. Maybe look at the Bucs CB that's much younger and a UFA

Bradberry was literally the #1 rated CB in the entire league this season. I wouldn't give him a big contract given his age but if he's open to a team friendly deal then I'd sign him in a heartbeat.
