Gannon seems like the type of guy where when plan A doesn’t go as expected he doesn’t know what to do.

If I’m a coordinator heading into a Super Bowl I would have had tertiary plans, blitz packages, etc all lined up just so if the plan doesn’t go as expected I have options.

I said this earlier in the year, Gannon is not good at making quick in game adjustments. If his defense isn’t working in the first half he usually needs to get to halftime to figure it out and make the adjustments. He’s not good on the fly at doing it.

tonight kn his mind his defense was actually decent in the first half. they forced 2 punts, force the Chiefs into a field goal that they missed and only gave up seven points to their offense. So he didn’t really make a lot of adjustments at halftime cause he thought it was working. So he went back out with what was working in his mind. But in the second half the chief started exploiting it more and more. But this time he didn’t have a halftime to go into and make adjustments. Again, this goes back to what I’ve said he’s not very quick when you need him to be in making adjustments. It’s been an issue this year.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

LB play is probably my biggest blind spot as a football fan.  They’ve got so much going on with their assignments.  DT…1 gap, 2 gap, stunts…sure, some nuance with assignments that impact what we are seeing, but getting beat is getting beat.  DBs…sticking in coverage or biting on a double move…plain to see.

LB is trickier.  Edwards, to me, always seemed like a player with below average overall athleticism, but decent 5 yard radius football athleticism who always had a knack for being in the right place and flowing with the play.  And for a LB, that’s pretty good.

But tonight, it really did feel like he was anywhere but where the RB was.  I don’t know if that’s him, Gannon, or both.

I think LB is Howie’s Achilles heel.  He can’t seem to select them correctly in the draft or free agency and undervalues the position too much.

I need to watch Reddick in this game more. A few times I watched him specifically he was getting double teamed and just a non factor. I was saying the last two weeks the KC O-line was good, but it’s disappointing no one on the D line took much advantage of anything.

Got eaten alive by that jet motion - 2 TDs on the same play in the 2nd half.  Gannon might have adjusted to what he saw in the 1st half, but had no answers after halftime.

How the F do they not sack Mahomes at least once or twice??

I agree with this. The Chiefs defense, which was regarded as the weakest of the Final Four defenses, was much much better than the Eagles defense tonight. Credit to the Eagles still converting on those 3rd and 4th downs and putting up 35 points.

Honestly, the Bengals defense played them MUCH tougher. And that was on the road in KC.

Yeah Spags with less talent got the best out of those guys, they tackled well and Spags had good enough schemes mostly. Makes me hate Gannon even more. We need to pray Arizona does us a favor and takes him.

I’d like to know how many times our DEs ended up slipping on the turf.

I thought Sweat had a nice game rushing the passer though.

The turf was bad - but I think playing on 4-man line gave him more contain/run responsibilities.

He's not been good at drafting defense in general. Another critical off-season coming up.

Think we’ve seen the last of Miles Sanders.

I hope so. He made an ass of himself tonight. The second one that was almost a fumble drove me crazy. He was playing way too casually like it was the preseason.

The other day I commented and said, the biggest matchup in this game was likely gonna be Hargrave vs. thuney and smith. Because if hargrave couldn’t be a force then chiefs would play would be able to double reddick too sweat. And that’s kind of how it played out. I’m more disappointed that sweat didn’t do anything in that game. Orlando Brown was bad against the bengals.  Sweat completely no showed in this game.

NFL almost owes us a redo with how atrocious the field conditions were.

May those involved in that field preparation suck the largest and foulest turds.

Man this sucks to be so close and lose like that.

I really thought being up 10 at half we could establish the ground game but we needed to hold them that 1st possession of the 2nd half.  Really disappointed in the defense the 2nd half.  Especially seeing as though they should have been fresh from not being on the field much in the 1st half and the longer halftime.

You can point to some big key mistakes.....the Hurts fumble and the big punt return stick out most.....but the defense really blew it.  It's understandable the Chiefs were going to move the ball but we needed to hold to FGs and some occasions and just couldn't do it.

Tbh wasn’t much to learn what to adjust too as the chiefs only had the ball for 8 mins. I think this was more the chiefs had the ball for 16 mins in the second half and Gannon got exposed sitting in his zone most of the evening

I think if you watched again you’d see Sweat had a nice game. He’s the reason Mahomes had such a off throw on that "penalty” by Bradberry.

chiefs were 4-5 in the red zone. I guess that is an improvement from the 5-5 in last year’s game

I knew this defense wasn't all that. So much for some historic defense. What a farce

His very first run pissed me off, he bounce. It twice instead of just hitting the hole and loses a yard, Biggest game of his life and he comes out twinkle toes the very first game.

No way I want him re signed, gainwell and Scott showed up Sanders was small

That garbage cost $800,000. That’s the most depressing stat of the night.

The middle of the defensive line was majorly disappointing. Big concern for me going into the off-season.

Pissed me off too

My biggest fear with the defense this season, despite how well they played, was I think we all knew in the back of our mind that they didn’t play any killer quarterbacks. They got one in Mahomes tonight and you saw what happened. And I think the same would have happened against Burrow and Allen.
