I waited all year to hop on the Gannon hate train…and I’m still not quite on it.  I think he designs a nice defense and the overall performance of several players this year speaks to that.  But I don’t think he can adjust or present looks that slow down a good qb.  He will not and cannot adapt.  Of course every defense is worse against top qbs.  But I do see it as a uniquely severe problem for him.

I do hope he gets a HC job somewhere.

Idk how you can watch last night's game and not hate Gannon. Not one stop all night

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

So he failed at the most important aspect of coaching.  If it was about drawing up beautiful schemes on paper things would be a lot different in the NFL

Seen the idea somewhere that if Kelce comes back they could plug Jurgens in at RG to replace Seaumalo

I don't like the thought of jurgens at guard, he's too small, short arms etc...

Sure he'd be good at pulling and getting out in space but I'd worry about him in pass pro and getting any initial push in the run game.

This isn't 1960, can't have two guys that small in Kelce and jurgens and expect to be able hold up against defenses.

Yep 4for4 banned for using confused emojis and people reporting him for it.

Mike suspended but I don’t think he’s coming back.

Undytaker suspended too.

Hazleton suspended as well.

All right before the Super Bowl.

Confused by that one

I was pretty mad at Gannon immediately after and during the game then after the dust settled and I read

1 incompletion. In the 2nd half I was ready to drive down to Philly with an angry mob and drive Gannon out.

Dude was beyond horrible, just out coached in every way.

I'm back.

Some other board was lucky enough to receive my posting services last night.

I'll have a pretty busy day today,  but I'll share some thoughts on the game later.  Didn't want you guys to miss out on them.

Don't be too down today.  I'm shocked. But not depressed with this one.  The QB/Coach/GM combo will have us back in contention very soon.  And I think having a pretty recent win also helped my mood.

Offense should be intact with the exception of Sanders and Seamulo.

It's the defense that might get a face lift.  Probably not a bad thing.

That’s Gannon for you. Receivers ran wide open all game. Didn’t see one pass breakup, not one contested catch, nothing.

If he's that dumb, I don't get why anyone would want him as a HC.  Maybe those two can't do it.

Oh. That and getting banned for overuse of the confused emoji......................................... makes me chuckle a bit

My other concern for next year…

Think of every nfl team as a product assembly line that, at the end of the line, all the products just fall off a cliff.

I always argue that the biggest delta for a team in a new year usually comes from the 2nd year draft class.  If Kelce doesn’t retire and we re-sign enough old DTs to keep Davis on the bench…that means we get zero boost next year from our high 2022 picks.  The rest of the roster gets one year older, slower, and closer to the end of the line, but there isn’t any boost from the young draft picks to make us better.

Taking the risk of getting burned at the stake here. Those two touchdowns where the receiver from kc ran across the formation near the end zone and then cut right back while our stupid db kept running was two of the stupidest plays by a defensive back I've ever seen (those weren't Gannon's fault).

Hate to say it but Deebo was right, our defensive backs got exposed last night.

My issue with Gannon isn’t necessarily with him struggling against good/elite quarterbacks. It’s an offensive league and those guys are always going to get theirs. It’s his inability to limit them from having a perfect game to just a good game. He gave up a perfect game to Mahomes in the second half last night. Anything but perfect probably means the Eagles win that game. And we saw that with Dak in the second Dallas game this year and last year with Brady, Mahomes, Carr, Dak, and Herbert.

Redzone defense was embarrassing to watch

Why were the Birds having such a difficult time getting the play call in last night? Almost every play was barely getting off before the play clock expired. It was almost always down to 2 seconds before Seumalo would tap Kelce.

In about 2-4 years, I’d suspect that Gannon becomes one of the best defensive coordinators in this league. Right now, he is still running someone else’s scheme and isn’t a true coordinator yet. He is basically copying and pasting from Fangio.

The question is, can we afford to wait? Presumably if he doesn’t get a head coaching gig this year, he won’t after 2023 with a worse team. And if next year is a wasted year anyway, maybe worth sucking it up and giving him the year to continue to develop. He desperately needs to move on from Fangio’s system and start coaching with some common sense and creativity.

Yes and no.

KC hardly threw the ball downfield, so it was more a result of nuanced play design rather than being out-run/muscled for the ball.

Also, like all DBs, ours had been the beneficiaries of a great pass rush.  The field conditions unfortunately neutralized our edge rushers.

I might not be remembering the stat right, but I thought I heard we played a season-high 56 percent of our snaps in man coverage last night.

That's odd. What makes you think this isn't his defense? Howie got a bunch of FA and drafted players for him

Yup.  I was fine with KC moving the ball.  You know they are going to do that.  Once they get in the red zone you have to limit them to FGs, at least sometimes.

I hope Gannon gets the Arizona job.  Maybe he's a better HC than he is DC.

Doesn't matter if the number 1 offense in the NFL being led by the number 1 QB scored a lot of points.  It's Gannon's fault.

I can't believe we lost it.  Would have given anything to see what Hurts and the offense could have done down 3 with a minute and a half left.

That loss hurt as much as any loss. I'm devestated and in disbelief.

I'm Fing depressed and numb/shock. That wasn't how it was supposed to go. They had the talent to win and as bad as they played they stopped them on 3rd and the refs threw a flag that never should have been. Going by the letter of the law there and turning a blind eye to others the rest of the game robbed us of a chance to watch them have a shot. I'm so Fing depressed

I honestly don't understand how anyone can watch last night's game and blame the offense. If you're expecting perfection, even the Chiefs offense punted twice and had a missed FG.

We wasted an excellent performance from the offense. AJ/Goedert/Mailata are in their primes. Lane/Kelce at the end of their primes. The only guys on offense who could conceivably get better are Hurts/Smith/Dickerson. All we needed was Jonathan Gannon to step up and he shrank worse than McVay against the Patriots.
