Why would they do that? They are locked into their position in the playoffs. Playing Starters would be foolish.

Maybe for a quarter. But why risk starters getting injured in a meaningless game when they have to go on the road the next week mostly likely against SF

Because I think Daboll senses blood in the water and wants to give his team confidence heading into the playoffs if they can enter the playoffs by beating the Eagles and knocking them out of their #1 seed and sending them to the wild card.  When the Giants won their first Super Bowl against the Pats they played their starters and almost beat the Pats but lost.  They still made the playoffs so they weren't at risk of missing them.  But going toe to toe with the undefeated Patriots gave the Giants all sorts of confidence heading into the playoffs.

 

Giants could very well rest their starters but my feel with Daboll is that he will play them and play them as long as it is still a competitive game.

The Giants are gearing up for a Super Bowl run... as is every other team that gets into the playoffs.  That's their goal.  If their 'just happy to be there', then they shouldn't even show up for the playoff game.  Does ESP not remember that the Giants' last Super Bowl, they were the last playoff seed and went on the road for 3 straight games to get to the Super Bowl?  

 

BTW... watching the Ravens, you see what the Eagles really needed this year... a QB with the same style as Hurts as the backup.  Having two vastly different QB styles is a massive issue when you have to go to the backup, and if anything it should be the backup that's more of the improvisor than the starter so that when things break down, they can make something happen with their legs/creativity.  Minshew is not that guy.   And he's not tall enough to be able to make the reads and run the RPO offense like Nick Foles could either.  He's listed at 6'1", but I doubt he's that tall.  Certainly doesn't look that tall behind Mailata and Dickerson.   Can he actually see around them?
