I agree.  Its weak, but it was the best they had.  It would really help the kids at the lower levels far more, but then again... most of those kids don't get athletic scholarships anyway.   My nephew plays D-III basketball.  He has an academic scholarship that covers some of his tuition... but he's paying the rest out of pocket, not even getting food.  He's an RA to help cover some of the costs.  (That's how that school does it... their athletes are RAs so that they can get free room and board... but they have other responsibilities in addition to the sport, because of that.)

Yea, it's the best they had agree.  When I played D3 football, the only option was they would give you "grants" rather than scholarships.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

If they truly meant to call it on him then yes, it was discussed that Mailata might have been the actual guilty party.  I haven't seen the replay.

That was the thought in the press box but someone (Berman I think) said the refs clarified after the fact that it was indeed called on Dickerson.

It’s funny how the pendulum has swung from speculating about Devonta Smith wanting a potential trade due to not enough targets to how AJ Brown will feel if Smith out targets him.

People worry too much.

If anyone has the answer to this I’d love to know but when was the last time we’ve had a wr have 3 consecutive games of 100 receiving yards? And last time 4 out of 5 games? Might be since 04 with TO who had 5 consecutive 100 yard games

Missed that...that crew was quite terrible.

Will be really interesting to see how he adjusts if Smith continues to ascend like he has the last quarter of the season.    What if Smith is the top dog.  Is AJ Brown OK being #2?

In no universe is AJ Brown #2 to DeVonta anytime soon. He’d have to start slowing down significantly. AJ is on a whole different level of gifted imo.

Maybe he stays home? Even with the resurgence, if GB wins Sunday night it’ll be all 3 years Dan Campbell couldn’t make the playoffs.

I would probably keep him but Detroit may have other intentions

Fulgham?

The argument for food money is a weak one too.  Most of these D1 football/sports programs have their own chefs and can have whatever meal they want, whatever supplements they want and whenever they want.  They have their own personal barbers, get free clothing, shoes and whatnot.  A D1 player on full scholarship doesn't need anything else handed to them.  They have everything they need and then some.

My cousin who played at Stanford, a) never missed a meal at college - like literally  b) and got new socks everyday… he really liked that (despite the fact that the facility did his laundry anyway).

Is there a better sports transformation than Rocky going from a lumbering boxer to quick on his feet, nimble boxer?

Caleb Williams has a wealth of talent, is accurate and can run and make plays.

it’s gonna quite interesting to see what nfl coaches and front office screw him up.

Amazingly enough he only had 1 100 yard game in that stretch

Wholeheartedly disagree.  They are both GIFTED WR but Smith has been proving why he won the Heisman these last 6 games.  AJ Brown is a physical specimen.  DeVonta Smith is the better WR.

Well the big money machines got greedy monetizing the kids before they left.  A bit dated, but Tebow is a perfect example.  I was in the Deep South back in his college days, the amount of Tebow jersey's you saw was ridiculous.

I thought maybe Maclin in 2014, but he never had more than two in a row — 187 and 158 in back to back games.

Owens had five straight 100 yard games and 6 of 7 in 2004.

I work at the Air Force Academy, so by Fed law they're required to provide food...but this is so accurate!  Except our cadidiots have to do their own laundry haha.

I’m sure this was shared already.  Not going back to see.  Oh well.

If, as Sirianni says, the coaches hold them themselves accountable, they really need to have a long look in the mirror as to what the hell they were doing (or trying to do) yesterday

I think they're 1 and 1a...Smith is by far the more talented one though IMO.

I'd try out Chiefs OC or Texans DC before Harbaugh

Mannnn....having 2 B-1's flyover in full afterburner would be incredible.

PSU fans...do you think both Freshman RB stay or will one transfer?

Certainly more skilled. Brown is a bully out there.

He is.  His TD yesterday it appeared he had more speed than the previous few weeks.  He had a catch against the Bears and Cowboys where it looked like a DT could catch him.

Yeah i had a feeling it was TO. Seeing fantastic play by smith. I’d argue he’s been the best WR over the team the last 5 weeks that’s saying a lot cause brown is still really good. and I’d argue in the nfl top 5. He’s had some ridiculous catches

I’m seeing a lot of outrage on Twitter over the Packers getting an advantage from the Lions knowing whether they’ll be eliminated from playoff contention by kickoff, but I have zero doubt that Campbell will have them ready to play their arses off regardless.

The outrage is justified. The timing gives the Packers an advantage, which is precisely what the league purportedly tries to avoid.
