I'd much rather see Franklin's last play at PSU.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I don't want to put that extra job on Elliot because if he struggles punting is that gonna impact his FG kicking?

Let me be crystal clear. I am not advocating that Elliott punt against the Giants. I am suggesting that it will probably be the smarter move to sign an experienced punter to the practice squad this week and have him be called up to punt in the game than it would be to waive someone and place Kern on the active roster. After that, we’ll see what’s best for the playoffs. Probably Kern, although he has given me real concerns since he joined the team.

If the Eagles had beaten the Saints and the coming game were effectively meaningless, I might have considered having Elliott do it. But they didn’t win and the game definitely matters, so let’s get someone who can do the job for real. But do it soon so that he can practice holding with Elliott.

Putting all of the blame on Minshew seems biased. He played like crap but coaching was horrible and the defense sucked in the 1st half

Yeah I explained this to him but he wants to try and be right? I don't know. I agree the coaching absolutely played a part in the loss which I explained captain downunderpants. I think how bad Minshew played played a bigger role. Same coaching with competent QB play and they win the game.

Maybe his prize recruit turns things around.  This is a 'big' game win for him.

It's about the QBs.

Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Herbert vs Hurts, Garoppolo, Cousins and Prescott

I believe that's why.

The decline of Brady and rodgers/packers being bad most of the year hurt the nfc as well. Afc might have another really good Qb that’s young. Trevor Lawrence has been great for 2 months now. He’s gonna finish the year completing 66-67% of his passes, throw for over 4000 yards and have 30 tds with a 96 Qb rating. Since week 10 he has 16 tds and 2 ints.

He's a great recruiter... he's not a great coach.

Terrible game day coach...but he isn't going anywhere for a while unfortunately

Here’s what I don’t get. The idea that the NFC is down. What is that even supposed to mean? In truth, the NFC has won more games this year than the AFC. They did last year too. The past two Super Bowl winning teams have come from the NFC. Why is it that so many people think the AFC is so superior? Are their top teams (Chiefs, Bills, Bengals) demonstrably better than the Eagles, Niners, Vikings, and Cowboys? Is the weak AFC South any better than the Weak NFC South? Are the other bad NFC teams (Bears, Rams, Cardinals) so much worse than the likes of teams like the Browns, Raiders, and Broncos?

I just get tired of everyone ripping on the NFC, and by extension the schedule the Eagles have faced. Holy hell, have you seen the 49ers schedule? It’s a who’s who of bad teams, several of which they incidentally lost to. Heck, I believe the Chiefs have played a weak schedule too.

There’s a lot of talk about parity in the NFL, but success is still largely based on which weak divisions a team is playing against, and how well teams near the top do at beating up on the bottom-feeders.

San Fran hasn’t lost in 9 games, but they’ve only played against one winning team in those 9 games as far as I can remember.  That was the Chargers — and the Chargers played against the Niners without Keenan Allen or Mike Williams in the lineup.

Let the pundits keep slobbering over the Niners.  It allows the Eagles to go about their business without fanfare or attention.

People making excuses for the NFL screwing the Seahawks by saying "But it's Dan Campbell!" is embarrassing. Terrible scheduling by the NFL.

It’s not just the Seahawks who are getting screwed. The Lions are too. They should be given the opportunity to go into a game with the belief that they are still alive for the playoffs. But they structured it such that they may be eliminated before the kickoff. That’s not right.

The NFCS was a dumpster fire. In the NFCW/NFCN the only two consistently good teams were SF/MINN; Minn won division with just under 1/4 left in season.

But I would argue niners schedule was just a little bit easier bc their division was pretty uncompetitive and they played every team in NFCS.

Now that’s not to say that whatever team comes out of NFC can’t beat AFC but I think that conference was more competitive.

Simple search on here would show that a lot of people thought the schedule would be easy before the season started

Got too drunk on new years and ended up sleeping my hangover off yesterday & missed the game. Sounds like it was an ok game to miss

If Buffalo loses tonight they drop to the 3 seed in the conference. Feels like if they don’t get past the divisional round that the bills and McDermott could be in the dungy/Bucs predicament.

Bengals didn’t have to run that sneak right there. Yesterday still hurts.

that said heading into this game i think the bengals are playing the best football of any team right now.

NFL got lucky last year with lots of high drama playoff implication games in week 18.  I think that will prove to be the exception, rather than the rule, with the new expanded season.

I think there are going to be too many meaningless week 18 games in most years.

Agreed, they're a well-coached team, stacked with talent and peaking at the right time.

Can't stand watching players continuously trying to leap over defenders.  Just a dangerous play.

Franklin, IMO, is terrible in the big games. Penn State played well today, but PSU always looks confused and ill prepared when they play Michigan and Ohio St.

Yup. Offense was expected. Their defense has really been good on this 7 game win streak. They are giving up 20 ppg during that streak but burrow threw a pick 6 and Steelers scored a garbage time td. So it could look even better and closer to the defense giving up 18

If you could plug any QB into the Eagles offense, who would it be? I’m taking Allen over Mahomes or Burrow. Him with a good run game and OL would be insane.

Yes.  Because they aren't well coached.  Against lesser talent teams, the talent wins.  Against equal or higher talent teams (like UM and OSU who recruit better), they can't match up, because that's where coaching matters more.   And they get exposed.

Contrast that to what we saw from TCU, who has a HUGE talent deficit compared to UM, and yet, they were in control the entire time during that game.  They never looked frazzled, never looked confused... and just brought it the entire game, start to finish.
