Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

If the game is postponed, I wonder when they’d resume with the playoffs right around the corner. Thursday night? Can’t be next Thursday and give them a short turn around right before a playoff game.

Would they push the playoffs back a week given these extreme circumstances?

Maybe declare it a No Contest. Give both both teams a tie and move on.

Who cares. Just call it a tie

Too hard to move the entire playoffs back.

I assume they would have to play a Tuesday or Wednesday game

That has to be a positive sign if waiting around

The amazing thing is that his mother was there... watching all that.   I can't imagine what she is going through...

Never ever wanted to see this happen during a game.

They have to cancel this game.  It's only a matter of time before he is declared dead.  CPR for long is just terrible and not good.

Conflicting reports out there.  One media outlet says he was on oxygen, which implies breathing on his own with a mask.  Another says not breathing on his own but with a pulse, which implies he was intubated on the field.

I'd take a few from a game highlight video or two.  I am honestly curious to see it.  I might be suffering from recency bias.

id guarantee you and a bunch of others in here are. but I dont have the proof to show.

Compressions are part of CPR….the compressions are the bulk of the time in CPR, but not all of it.  It sounds like it was 9 minutes of CPR from what they are saying, but who knows…

Hopefully they got a defib on him too.  9 mins is a lot of damage from compressions.

Goodell is a spinelesss, corporate goon. I don't know who decided to suspend the game, but I highly doubt it was him.

I'm guessing the Bills players didn't want to continue right now, and McDemott talked to Taylor and he agreed to let it be suspended.

We got a few docs in TATE, does this have an inevitable end?

I wouldn’t be surprised if teammates of his Uber/bus/whatever themselves to the hospital. F the game.

They won't be allowed in with him though... they'd just be in the way.  They are better off staying close to their phones...

Just praying for all involved. Thats just a scary incident.

Distraction: Connor Bedard with a beauty OT goal in the World Juniors semis. (NHLN)

He's the next Lindros, McDavid, Crosby, etc.

He received CPR immediately.  Immediate high quality CPR, even if extended, has much better outcomes.  There was zero down time beforehand.  This isn’t someone who went down at home and they had to call 911.

I am still hopeful he’s going to be OK now that they reportedly stabilized him

League protocol was to give the players 5 F’ing minutes to regroup and continue play before the coaches stepped in. Absolute joke.

That's completely not true. You have zero idea. I've brought people back that have been down for 15 minutes. So while yes it's extremely critical you saying "it's a matter of time before he is declared dead" is a completely ignorant statement..

From a football standpoint, I was a huge Hamlin fan when he was coming out of Pitt.  Recall he ran one of the worst 40 times a safety ever has though.  Always liked him as a player.

Suzy, Shefter and Booger is a horrible round table to have at this time.  Just cut the broadcast.  Don't want to hear them at all.

Under the assumption that ROSC is achieved, the duration of CPR is less important.  It’s the downtime before CPR.

I'd be happy to continue this at a later time.

Look guys I just turned this on but they wouldn't have moved him until they got some sort of return of circulation. You don't transport a patient until you have a the heart working at least somewhat. You can't do proper CPR in a moving rig. I've done this probably 50 times in my career.

Not nearly enough info.

But a pulse would be positive.

New territory here. Unprecedented.

Nobody knows what to do. This is not a Football injury...this is Life-Threatening...

Prayers for Hamlin.

The NFL must navigate this carefully, this is a transcendental moment in the Sport.

Not unprecedented, other than it is early in the game, unlike in 1971 when Chuck Hughes of the Detroit Lions died on the field of a heart attack with about 2 minutes left in the game. I watched it happen on tv. I think they resumed and finished the game. It wasn't his first heart attack that year. And, he was initially drafted in 1967 by . . . the Philadelphia Eagles. By 1971 he was with the Lions.
