Yes, in 1971 Chuck Hughes of the Detroit Lions had a heart attack with about 2 minutes to go. I remember that scene as though it was yesterday, watched it on a black and white tv.

Incidentally, Chuck Hughes was drafted by the Eagles and spent most of his career with the Eagles. I remember seeing him play many times. He was only with Detroit for one year. It turns out that he had an undiagnosed heart condition.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Yeah there’s nothing the espn crew can say they’re just repeating the same lines over and over. Not sure why they’re keeping them there either.

He received CPR immediately.  Immediate high quality CPR, even if extended, has much better outcomes.  There was zero down time beforehand.  This isn’t someone who went down at home and they had to call 911.

I am still hopeful he’s going to be OK now that they reportedly stabilized him

Ok being a relative term... I assume this means... he lives to tell the tale.   That's step 1.   Having a career playing football after this is a very distant second step.

From a football standpoint, I was a huge Hamlin fan when he was coming out of Pitt.  Recall he ran one of the worst 40 times a safety ever has though.  Always liked him as a player.

Suzy, Shefter and Booger is a horrible round table to have at this time.  Just cut the broadcast.  Don't want to hear them at all.

Schefter reeks of corporate NFL suit and it’s awkward watching him. The other two are doing as good as they can given the situation.

I am actually cautiously optimistic and think he’ll be alright.  They wouldn’t have moved him unless he had passed or had ROSC…and we know the unthinkable former did not happen on the field.  The downtime was exceptionally brief.

I truly feel horrible for them...wtf are they even supposed to do with these cuts to them?

Assuming that’s a good sign. If he were fighting for his life they wouldn’t be waiting

You don't move the rig if you don't have a heartbeat. You stay on scene until return of circulation.

Under the assumption that ROSC is achieved, the duration of CPR is less important.  It’s the downtime before CPR.

ROSC?

Never ever wanted to see this happen during a game.

They have to cancel this game.  It's only a matter of time before he is declared dead.  CPR for long is just terrible and not good.

You just need to go away, seriously

Forgive my ignorance. What’s ROSC?

Harlan and Warner are doing a better job on the radio but even they are struggling. Its rough for everyone.

That's completely not true. You have zero idea. I've brought people back that have been down for 15 minutes. So while yes it's extremely critical you saying "it's a matter of time before he is declared dead" is a completely ignorant statement..

Going off of my cop buddy is saying that he's never seen someone come back from CPR being administered for 20+ minutes.

It would be disgusting for the NFL to continue with this game.

I'm trying to stay positive, praying for him, and all involved.

Go F yourself.  We just saw a player likely die on the field.

ROSC?

Return of spontaneous circulation.

Distraction: Connor Bedard with a beauty OT goal in the World Juniors semis. (NHLN)

He's the next Lindros, McDavid, Crosby, etc.

Go the F away...right now...

They need to call this game.

You need to stop with your ignorant comments..seriously!

You cannot ask these players to resume this game, how F'in heartless can you possibly be.

Call it already.

goodell doesn’t even needs to talk with the players. It should be postponed and canceled just cause of how bad the situation is. Anyone that’s human or has a brain should’ve already made that announcement.

As soon as I saw the look on McDermott's face, I knew something was terribly wrong.

How Fing soulless would you have to be to resume play?

So you know exactly how long his heart wasn't beating? You aren't on the scene. You have zero clue. So don't go off saying crap like it's "only a matter of time until he's declared dead"

This isn’t easy for the broadcast crew.  They aren’t qualified to narrate things like this.

IDK how to post twitter stuff, but Skip just posted an absolutely disgusting tweet.

If they make this game go on I hope the players take a stand against it. Absolutely ridiculous look to make them continue.
