I think Sanders is more injured than they’re letting on. And so they thought they could have minshew throw to win. They also don’t trust Scott or gainwell to carry the load if sanders isn’t well enough. That’s the only thing I can think of

They don’t trust Miles either even when he’s healthy and they’re kind of justified in that logic with the fumbles in the Chicago and Dallas game. It’s kind of playing Russian Roulette the more carries you give him, especially this time of the year in poor weather games. They don’t really have a reliable running back on the roster, which is why I think they try to distribute touches among all three backs. Hurts is actually the most reliable "running back” on the roster.

I don't know how anyone could have any confidence in Sirianni and the rest of the coaching staff to gameplan/coach them to a SB win

This is an interesting stat

Tell me this Dline isn't balling

I don’t. But I don’t think that’s the case with Sirianni/Steichen. They have never consistently trusted Sanders.

I heard a stat that the Eagles lead the NFL with 54 sacks when rushing 4 or fewer players. Second is NE with something like 39.

to me it appears they went into glide mode, playing vanilla, kind of like preseason to save other stuff for the playoffs- which if they did, they went too far.

If they did not and this was their "best efforts" we are in deep trouble.

Terrible scene in last night game!  Noticed that the S players are most often involved in violent collisions.  Epps is the hardest hitting S, Blinkenships is a bit less but not by much.  The kick-return players are also involved in many compacts.  When players of opposite sides running at full speed collide, the impact on the bodies is very high.  The league needs to figure something out to prevent serious injuries.

While I agree, football is a high impact contact sport as such it will be difficult to legislate out injuries.

The NFL has made rules that protect and qbs to the extreme, in part because qbs are the leagues money makers, and there have been rules implemented to protect defenseless players, including blind side blocks and other rules like not using crown of helmet but for the most part plays like yesterday are just legal high impact plays that happen dozens of times a game.

I suppose one could strictly implement rugby tackling rules, which is basically cheek to cheek.( Face cheek To but cheek)Eliminating high tackles, chest tackles and low tackles,  which is a very narrow target area to tackle and would greatly benefit runners.

If rugby rules were strictly enforced than one could also get rid of hard helmets and hard pads.

Hard helmets and hard pads don't do much to protect but they sure do make for exciting high impact collisions.

Soft pads would automatically eliminate players from using their heads as weapons, both on offense and defense.

Having soft shoulder pads would limit the impact of impact collisions, as for knee pads hip pads but pads nobody wears those anymore anyway.

If the NFL were serious about player safety they would do more to implement some of the above mentioned or come up with other real solutions but their game was built off high impact collisions.

People get excited hearing pads pop, when two men wearing soft head gear and soft shoulder pads run into each other cheek to cheek it doesn't draw as many oohs and awes.

I watch a lot of rugby and the amount of big hits that draw oohs and awes from the crowd are few and far between and even then it's a check to cheek tackle where the defender isn't allowed to drive the player into the ground can't hit high or low nor in the chest.

I'm not sure if this form of tackling is actually realistic for football as it's so much faster and the angles are different plus it would take a long while to train players and refs from all the way down to pee wee league to change the way they've been playing for decades.

Just some food for thought and something I've thought about more than once.

And yet Gannons soft zone allows Teams to march long drives down the field or convert 3rd and 30's... so even with the best pass rush, decent at stopping the run, our defense can get gashed horrible by any decent pocket passing QB.

Couple things I had to add to this. After the defense was on the field for 9 minutes on the opening drive, the eagles should’ve wanted to have some ball control so they could get some rest. they went pass happy which the offense went three and out and the defense was right back on the field. If the Saints had a bad pass defense, then I could understand. But when the Saints are one of the worst teams that stopping the run and you think it’s a good idea to pass and particularly when they got Lattimore back who’s their best corner.

Also, this isn’t the first time they’ve done something like this. We said the same thing during the Bears game when they went into the game being pass happy. they threw two interceptions then they finally decided they were gonna run the Fing ball and got themselves on track. If you’re playing a team with a bad run defense, run the ball. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking all week when they came up with this game plan. lane Johnson not being out there as one of your best pass blockers, the Saints getting their best corner in Lattimore back this week, the saints pass D being top 5 in the league for the last 2 months and the saints run defense has been bad enough most of the season to be sitting bottom third in the league were all things they should’ve been looking at. and when you have all those factors say to yourself our best plan of attack is likely  running the ball Especially with an erratic at times backup Qb

That's the weird part.  Just running the ball is a rather vanilla attack in its own right, isn't it?   Inside zone, outside zone, power.   They didn't have to get exotic with the run calls, and still likely would have put themselves in a better situation to win than they did with the pass happy offense they threw out there.

Sirianni/Steichen? Yes.
Gannon? No.

There is no way the NFL will ask the Bills to play a game in the next 2 days, especially with Hamlin's status still very much in the air.

32 pass attempts to 14 called hand-offs.

They "played" that game safe to protect Hurts, Sanders and Goedert.  When the rest of the team sees that, you think they are going to go all out?  The tone was set by the corner office upstairs.  Always has been.

What's not being discussed enough is how porous and soft the middle of the defense looked on the first couple of drives.  It was ridiculous.

I’ve mentioned throughout the year the defensive adjustments take too long to make. Gannon has to be quicker when his initial plan isn’t working the way he thought. I’ve said this a ton of times since the houston game, feels like the defense makes none or nearly no adjustments to the gameplan until they get to the halftime and inside locker room. Eventually that is going to catch up to you cause if something is continuously working and you aren’t adjusting then teams are going to keep attacking it until you do.

I would like to see them win a playoff game before I think about them getting to the SB.

Good for her for being able to laugh about it

Yep.  The Falcons didn't trust Desmond Ridder in his first start in New Orleans, so they did this.

Sanders isn't the only RB on the roster.  And if they can't rely on Gainwell or Scott or Sermon at all, then they shouldn't be on the roster.  Pure and simple.   Next man up.

that’s the truth

If Sanders is hurting, they should bench him against the Giants. Playing an RB, who gets hit every play, with a bad knee, is a bad idea. Scott/Gainwell are good enough to carry the load for one game. Scott is a the Giant Killer, after all.
