We have witnessed two consecutive weeks of poor coaching. This does not inspire confidence with the playoffs approaching.

I'm truly starting to believe they half-arsed these last 2 games thinking they could risk it and get a W without showing anything or playing Hurts.

At first I thought it was absurd but nothing else makes sense judging the first half Eagles va the Eagles from the last 2-3 games.

You might be right - if so, the Eagles have been clever by 1/2.

I have no idea what they are doing on defense.

I don't believe that tailoring a game plan for Minshew would reveal much regrading the offense with Hurts.

Without Maddox and CGJ in there, the pass defense is a serious concern.  Scott's INT was the first incompletion of the game by the Saints -- was that shortly before halftime?

The offense sputtered  and Minshew had a poor game, but on offense sometimes you have to find a rhythm.  That's hard to do when you're barely on the field.  The entire team played poorly against the Saints.

I don’t disagree hard to find a rhythm when you are barely on the field. However if your game plan was to attack the 2nd ranked pass defense who just got back their best corner (one of the better ones in the league), down your RT with your backup Qb over running the ball against the 23rd ranked run defense that’s an issue. The fact the eagles had 15 called drop backs and 2 rushes in the first half is a good reason they couldn’t sustain offense either. It was a pretty ridiculously dumb plan of attack

id argue the defense was great in the second half of that game. They got off the field until the very end of the game. Heck the saints got the ball at the 50 and the eagles forced a punt and not a fg attempt. I’d also add the 54 yard field goal, defense was put in short field position as the offense went 3 and out after running for 9 yards and then thinking we should then pass/run with minshew on 3rd and 1 from the 19.

Sounds like a description of the syphillis rash.

Completely correct.  I should say the defense played a poor first half, but did adjust in the second half.  Maybe Gannon is one of these guys who doesn't look at a tablet or pictures between possessions? (Only half-kidding).

Coming out for the second half, Mike Quick made a comment the Eagles should be running the football and said the Saints had the 2nd ranked pass defense and 23rd ranked run defense.  On the Eagles first possession of the second half they cracked off 2-3 long runs and Quick said "see?"  Then, it seemed like the Eagles quickly abandoned the run game again shortly afterward.

I actually thought the game turned on that failed 4th-and-1 sneak.  I expected the Eagles would win the game until that happened.

People said this about the Dallas gameplan but I'm not buying it. Out of principle, they lost Lane and Sweat in the past two games so half-assing it instead of just resting guys is stupid. If they did indeed hold stuff back, then they lost those two guys for nothing which is asinine. Just bench everyone then if you're not 100% in. This isn't a preseason game where both teams are on the same page of not going all out. Dallas was fully committed that game and treated it as a must win, so that intensity and strategy needed to be matched.

The other part of this is that I think Jalen masks a lot of the offensive inefficiencies with his ability to run and improvise. We saw this in the Indy game when it felt like they were in a rut. Minshew doesn't have the same skillset, so we're seeing a hole in the offensive gameplan without a scrambling quarterback. It's not really a great system for a non-scrambling QB. New Orleans basically laughed in Minshew's face when they ran the read option and dared him to keep it.

My biggest gripe over the last 2 months with Gannon is his inability to adjust quicker. It’s been a problem since about houston. If his gameplan isn’t working early he usually just sticks with it until he can get to halftime to make adjustments. In the nfl playoffs not adjusting quick enough can cost you games and teams if something is continuously work tend to stick with it

after not getting the 4th and 1 i thought the saints were in much better position to win. Even if the saints had to punt, the eagles offense was going to have to drive the length of the field to score a td, which seemed like a tall task.and a fg probably giving the saints an opportunity to win the game with the final possession with how much time was on the clock. Not that the saints would but they’d have that chance.

I would’ve still gone for it. That said, there is an argument to be made with 8+ minutes left at midfield and the way the defense was playing and how inept the offense had been most of the game they could’ve punted the ball. If you pin the Saints inside the 10 and the defense does its job like it had been all 2nd half then you likely are getting the ball right back around midfield with a chance to either go for the game-winning touchdown or a field goal to tie it.

Where’s Ronnie brown throwing the ball from the running back position when you need him.

So sad, these recent events. Hamlin's well-being front and center.

Everyone else is scrambling to get a handle on what actually happened, and what to do now...

Take Artists out in Full Force, Responsible minds behind the scenes are trying to plan the best Course of Action moving forward.

Our favorite Sport just took a Major Hit, but with thousands of high speed collisions every week, it seemed inevitable something like this would occur. Didn't we use to celebrate the Huge Hit, Decleating a Receiver, The Reggie Bush takedown?? Maybe now, not so much.

Now it's not so much fun anymore, these guys are vulnerable, and people first.

Safety initiatives have begun to be instituted, albeit, slowly. Helmet Mods, QB protections, etc, but this aspect must be advanced.

The Targeting and Personal Foul/Roughing penalties are erring on the Side of Caution and Safety. Good Moves.

The Concussion guy in the Booth may need a Primer on how to spot a potential problem, they're working on that, I guess...

Tipping point may be right around the corner...

Why is your capitalization of words all over the place?

This was a freak injury…all the rules and equipment had nothing to do with it.

Sure hes the most accomplished va guys that produced in the playoffs and SB.

In terms of sheer yardage, yeah I guess he is an "accomished back"...kind of.  He gets the ball more than those guys did, and most of the time gets about an average amount of yardage given his blocking and playcall, and then either runs out of bounds or gets tripped up by an arm tackle.

If anyone is being the emotional hot take guy its the Miles Sanders fanboys.  Hes average.

This is overreaction. Football isn’t going anywhere.

It is.  Like it or not risk of injury is part of a well paying job.  It is just more visible than most.  People will continue to take the risk as long as people are willing to purchase the entertainment product.

Truck driving injures and kills more that football.  Or take antenna workers, the mortality rate is pretty high yet folks aren’t giving up their cell phones because of it.  Football takes a toll on the body?  So does construction work.  So does farming.  So does sedentary work that chains you to a computer screen and a desk.  People put themselves at risk every day for a paycheck.  We watched Bloggers in here put themselves at risk every day in the early days of Covid as first responders, medical professionals and essential workers.  Nature of my job, I saw death and injury every day, many from on the job injuries.  Maybe that callused me a bit but it opened my eyes to the risks many take to put a paycheck in the bank.

Will be really interesting to see how he adjusts if Smith continues to ascend like he has the last quarter of the season.    What if Smith is the top dog.  Is AJ Brown OK being #2?

More like 2 #1’s, hence the entire "swole Batman” and "skinny Batman” and I’m pretty sure he’s been fine with that since preseason.  Two different types of receivers that complement each other.  :Eagle_smiley:

People get hurt at work every day.  People die on the job every day.  Injuries are not at all unique to football.  Football probably has a higher percentage of it's workforce get injured than many others but they're not alone at all.  I have never seen a construction project stopped because a worker was hurt or even killed on the job.  Moreover, there are 1000s of jobs where repeated activities, chemical exposure and other conditions create occupational diseases that have long term consequences.

This.  I work in the construction industry, and a guy almost died in our shop last July.  He did not take appropriate safety measure while cutting a large mirror, and had his arm sliced 90% of the way around his bicep down to the bone.  The EMT's said if you pulled on his hand, you would have pulled everything off the bone almost all the way up to his shoulder.  We did not close our office the rest of the day.
