So an "average” player makes the pro bowl?   You think a guy who averages 5.0 YPC is "average”?

Ryan Matthews was more average, I give that to you.   Where do you rank Josh Adams?

An average RB behind this OL, getting most of the carries, absolutely makes the Pro Bowl, yes.

Since you want to scoff at my list:

Ajayi had a 1200+ yard season with Miami.

Blount, Howard, and Mathews all had two 1000+ seasons.

So congrats to Miles Sanders for doing in a contract year, after a poor year with no TDs, what all those guys already did in their careers.  He is nothing special.

Edit: Josh Adams wasn't good, thats why I didnt mention him.   I only mentioned guys who were better overall RBs than Sanders IMO.

Reading the full quote he starts off with the defense and the opening drive then gets into the offense that really really contributed to it. I don’t disagree with him about that 9 minute drive but i wouldn’t have brought that up as the first reason when discussing it and just focused on the offense not sustaining drives. The 9 min drive should’ve been maybe a brief mention meanwhile the offense was the one that was briefly mentioned at the end of the quote. That quote was 5 sentences long. 3 were explaining the 9 min drive and then one brief mention about the offenses’ 3 and out

"The best way to explain the time of possession is our lack of possessing the football on offense," Sirianni said. "Now, there's a lot that goes into that first drive. They gave us their best punch there on offense and then our defense buttoned up the rest of the game. To have a nine minute drive, that's a long drive to start the game off and that contributes to that off whack time of possession. But it's the three and outs that really, really contribute to that."

The defense is why they couldn't have had more than 6 minutes of TOP in the 1st quarter.  If the offense did their job, the TOP at the end of 1 is ~9 minutes to ~6 minutes.  But they didn't, so it got way skewed.  But, it did start skewed because of the defense.  The offense allowed it to stay that way.   Which he points out when he says the offense's three and outs (3 in a row, or was it 4?) 'really, really' contributes to that.  So, to me, he's putting the major onus on the offense... as he should.

Where’s Ronnie brown throwing the ball from the running back position when you need him.

Bryce Brown was the man to tote the rock.

People get hurt at work every day.  People die on the job every day.  Injuries are not at all unique to football.  Football probably has a higher percentage of it's workforce get injured than many others but they're not alone at all.  I have never seen a construction project stopped because a worker was hurt or even killed on the job.  Moreover, there are 1000s of jobs where repeated activities, chemical exposure and other conditions create occupational diseases that have long term consequences.

Posted my feelings from the heart. So sorry it triggered so many.

I get life is dangerous, been in Construction all my life. Seen death on jobsites and serious injury.

Don't go superior, no need for that.

I’m just gonna disagree with you. He went into the opening drive and 9 mins with the defense in that quote. I think he did catch himself and if he didn’t say the button up thing people were really going to look at that quote even more. he had one thing that was pretty brief about the three and out. That quote could’ve been entirely different. If he said the defense couldn’t get off the field in the first quarter briefly. Then went into three and out and into the detailed problems that the offense had all game that led to TOP skewed.

He didn’t even have to do that. If he would’ve just said well we had a bunch of three and outs on offense and the opening drive was 9 minutes. That’s why I got so skewed. Instead, he decided to take a pretty good amount of that quote telling you about the 9 minutes and the opening drive and very little about the 3 and outs and offensive issues.

I do think he tried to save himself when he said "they buttoned up the rest of the game” cause it may have come off worse if he didn’t.

This.  I work in the construction industry, and a guy almost died in our shop last July.  He did not take appropriate safety measure while cutting a large mirror, and had his arm sliced 90% of the way around his bicep down to the bone.  The EMT's said if you pulled on his hand, you would have pulled everything off the bone almost all the way up to his shoulder.  We did not close our office the rest of the day.

A successful seventh round pick. Traded him for a fourth round pick a few years later. That works for me.

I agree... we disagree.  A little too much micromanaging of his words.   I think he handled it fine.

It happens in plants all of the time.  Even in smaller construction companies where a relative working for the company is killed they show up for work the next day.

Chicken processing has a lot of injuries like degloving and finger amputations.  Just check to make sure the chicken wing doesn't have a finger nail.

Nothing like throwing your defense under the bus and completely ignoring the fact you went pass happy against (at the time) 2nd ranked pass defense who got Lattimore back with your backup Qb playing and a team that was then 23rd ranked run defense.

Mind boggling, truly is

Not nearly enough is being made of the job done by the training and medical staff.

Everyone waxes poetic about the pressure of coming onto the field cold in front of 70,000 people and a national TV audience as a backup QB, WR, kicker and having to perform.  Imagine doing that and needing to save an actively dying young man's life.

Bad ass.

make me

I don't feel like this got enough discussion yesterday.

For all the is it Hurts or is it the system discussion, it is quite clear Sirianni and Steichen believe it is their system.

Why else would Minshew pass 72 times to 39 RB carries in his two starts.

Saints #3 pass defense, Cowboys #9 pass defense.

Saints #5 in sacks, Cowboys #3 in sacks.

Saints #22 run defense, Cowboys #21 run defense.
