97.5 discussing the situation last night, interesting thought.

If this happened in the Super Bowl, no way they don't finish the game.

But now they have set a precedence, and any time anything like this happens again, even in the Super Bowl, the game has to be be suspended.

This has happened how many times? It's not something that is likely to happen again anytime soon, I hope.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

someone brought up wrestle mania last night where Owen Hart died. The show went on. There is actually a precedent set for a major event already.

Its different than a regular season game, which is comparable to any regular week of monday night raw. Wrestle Mania is the WWE super bowl with an entire weekend long host of events.

Vince McMahon isnt a great model to follow. But, the precedent is out there now.

That happened almost 25 years ago and it was the wrong move to keep the show going. I'm a big wrestling fan and have followed it for a while and Vince is a good business man, but he shouldn't be used as a moral compass. On the whole, he's a piece of crap as a person. That event still haunts the wrestlers who participated in it to this day.

It wasn't Wrestlemania, or even one of the popular PPV's. It was almost a nothing show. And completely different situations.

Might not be a major point, but that wasn’t at Wrestlemania. It was a different PPV event called Over The Edge. I’ll always remember that due to the irony of the name and the accident that happened.

Because any team that's in it now will have to travel, due all the media appearances, do media row, do interviews, practice, game plan, and whatever else all in less than a week. NFL isn't going to back off anything and they are going to force 2 weeks worth of things into 6 days. And if say its the Eagles/Chiefs, why do they have to go through that if Bengals/Bills didn't even make it, thus making the postponement of the playoffs ultimately pointless.

I know that sounds petty, but this is under the premise of delaying the playoffs just to squabble about the 2/3 seed. If #1 seed is still up in the air that changes things.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the NFL did in 2002, after the 9/11 attacks and no one cried about it being unfair.   Personally... I don't see it as that big a deal.  But, that decision is going to be made with NFLPA's input.  So, if the NFLPA ok's it... what should it bother us?

Have you seen the price of those tickets, it's shocking... Wrestlemania is coming to town this April (?); thought I might take the boy... sorry son.

How thoroughly are players checked during physicals?

Remember when Teddy Bruschi had that hole in his heart and they found it during his playing career? Is that because they missed it on a scan? Or are there certain things they don't check for during physicals. I've always wondered how many NFL players exist right now who have some type of an undiscovered ailment where it is unsafe for them to be playing football.

The #1 seed is still up in the air.  The Bills own the head to head tie breaker over the Chiefs, and a win last night makes them the #1 seed.

Wouldn’t say a nothing show. It was a ppv called over the edge

You are likely right... but let's hope and pray that we never have to find out what they'd end up doing.

I dont know how you get teammates to play the super bowl in that case. But I dont know how you possible even begin to think about moving that game either. There is so much more going on than just the game.

People get hurt at work every day.  People die on the job every day.  Injuries are not at all unique to football.  Football probably has a higher percentage of it's workforce get injured than many others but they're not alone at all.  I have never seen a construction project stopped because a worker was hurt or even killed on the job.  Moreover, there are 1000s of jobs where repeated activities, chemical exposure and other conditions create occupational diseases that have long term consequences.

I have.

When the flooring pours collapsed at the Trop in AC, Two of my dear friends were caught up the debris.

Both survived with permanent injury. 3 died, 20 some injured.

Let's not generalize too much here, Projects are stopped after an accident, injury or death, all the time.

Re-evaluation, Investigation, OSHA Review, etc.

Just saying, easy with this...

I'm saying after Week 18 concludes if it is still up in the air. If Bills lose/Chiefs win, Chiefs are the #1 seed and the Bengals game is pointless for the Bills and the #1 seed.

Nothing show meaning in the grand scheme of things they could have easily canceled and just did the same matches the next night. It was just a basic filler PPV, not something major like Royal Rumble, WM, Summer Slam etc.

Oh... its going to suck, for sure.  But why not limit the obligations?

I know why.... the almighty dollar.  Then again, the almighty dollar is why they may want to play the game no matter what.   That's why I stand by the NFLPA, Bengals, Bills and Chiefs ultimately making this decision.

Agreed.  If @olsilverhair want to live that lifestyle, he is going to have to deal with the consequences.

Why do people keep assuming that he had an unknown ailment? He took a shot to the chest and collapsed a few seconds after. You don't think that had anything to do with it? Just because it didn't look severe doesn't mean that it wasn't. The same thing happened to Chris Pronger when he took a slap shot to the chest and collapsed in the same exact fashion.

NTTAWWT

The Broncos, Saints, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings are tied for the teams with the fewest draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft with five.

Any of these teams have anything you'd be willing to give up a 1st rounder for that you think they might actually be willing to accept (meaning Justin Jefferson would be out).
