Oh... its going to suck, for sure.  But why not limit the obligations?

I know why.... the almighty dollar.  Then again, the almighty dollar is why they may want to play the game no matter what.   That's why I stand by the NFLPA, Bengals, Bills and Chiefs ultimately making this decision.

I'm not going to throw a hissy fit over it. I just hope they don't have to resort to any type of major changes while still being fair and respectful to the teams involved.

It was not an injury, it was on the verge of someone losing their life.

Do you imagine that I don’t know that?  The league finished the game when kevin Everett was very nearly killed on the field, and was in fact paralyzed. Stingley. Shazier. Games were finished. There is a chance for a far better recovery here and that’s what we’re all praying for. But you’re proving my point. This is a totally new situation and everything should be, and I believe is, on the table.

It wasn't Wrestlemania, or even one of the popular PPV's. It was almost a nothing show. And completely different situations.

well, for 1 that guy actually died in the ring. And while fans at home, and even there in the stands werent sure if it was part of the show or not, the wrestlers knew he was dead.

In this case, everyone knew Hamlin was alive. They would know on the field that they got his pulse back. They can be told that. Fans can be told that. It was right to stop the regular season game.

I dont know if you do that for the super bowl, especially knowing the guy is not dead.

Vince was wrong and he is a big idiot. But I dont know how you discontinue the super bowl. I dont know how a host city handles that.

Why do people keep assuming that he had an unknown ailment? He took a shot to the chest and collapsed a few seconds after. You don't think that had anything to do with it? Just because it didn't look severe doesn't mean that it wasn't. The same thing happened to Chris Pronger when he took a slap shot to the chest and collapsed in the same exact fashion.

Why did you assume that I assumed he had an unknown ailment? I was speaking generally. I never even mentioned Hamlin's name in the post.

Nothing show meaning in the grand scheme of things they could have easily canceled and just did the same matches the next night. It was just a basic filler PPV, not something major like Royal Rumble, WM, Summer Slam etc.

Tbh not sure if it were raw or smackdown wwf is canceling it. They also had the tribute show to Chris Benoit and then the news came out about it

I think its less likely to move.

If you consider the cost that was just thrown away for a regular season game, from electricity, to stadium staffing, to traffic solutions, to fan expenses for tickets and travel arrangements, and on and on

Now you look at the super bowl and multiply that by god knows what factor. Especially for the planning and expenses of the host city. Theyre going to spend weeks or months cleaning up the city, local businesses planning for staffing increases to meet increased traffic to their business, police presence and other emergency personnel, increased staffing on public transportation, etc.

The NFL can almost be justified in saying- its the super bowl, we really cant move things around. Its not comparable to a regular season game.

Understood and all reasonable points. Just saying with the money machine behind the superbowl you could push it a week and not affect the entire playoff structure

Just curious should Pascal be getting more snaps than Watkins?  Way better blocker and isn't afraid to go get the ball.  Obviously doesn't have Watkins speed but I'd like to see more of this.

Have you seen the price of those tickets, it's shocking... Wrestlemania is coming to town this April (?); thought I might take the boy... sorry son.

Not really. My friend is going and I know theyre pretty insane. And thats like, barely even a blip on the radar as far as the economical impact. Thats at the individual fan level, which yes, tickets are 3-5 times as much as a regular season ticket, or regular raw ticket. Maybe more. And then you have lodging and travel coniderations.

But then theres the city level where theyll spend 10s of millions of dollars, or more in preparation for such a major event. Its not comparable to a regular season event.

I dont know how you can let 1 person put the kibosh on all of that planning and expense. These are things that are announced years in advance so that cities can begin planning, that far in advance.

It just seems like too much.

Again, I dont know how you ask those players, specifically his teammates to continue playing. But, I think you have to in the case of the super bowl.

I think they will announce a plan as to how to sort out the playoff seeding for each possible outcome this weekend. They will do that once they have agreement with the affected teams. I believe they will just go with winning percentage. They will not change the overall schedule and they will not replay the game. The Bills and Bengals will simply end having played one fewer game.

That's what I mean. Not only did he die in the ring, everyone there watched him freefall some 50-75 feet first. There's no way that show should have ever gone on.

As for the Super Bowl, I have no idea what they would do. I hope we don't ever find out either.

Was more so referring to legitimate books like MGM, Fan Duel, Draft Kings, Barstool, Wynn, etc. What is Sleeper?

Are any of those refunding?  If your guy gets hurt first play they don’t refund your bet. You bet the final result, and that’s what I’m betting this is. Sleeper is a popular fantasy app that runs a sports book similar to fanduel and DK

The Broncos, Saints, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings are tied for the teams with the fewest draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft with five.

Any of these teams have anything you'd be willing to give up a 1st rounder for that you think they might actually be willing to accept (meaning Justin Jefferson would be out).

Pat Surtain on the Broncos, and Brian Burns on the Panthers, and Marshon Lattimore on the Saints are the only 3 players that would make sense for us and I would be willing to give up our late 1st round pick for, but no way they would give those players up for that......so the answer is no lol

Which puts KC as the #1 seed, which would not happen if the Bills get to play the game and win.  Bills have a head to head win over the Chiefs, why should they not get an opportunity to earn the #1 seed.

I agree on the Quez  point, and Im still a fan of his. I also sorta take this tradeoff since switching his responsibilities with Smith's has unlocked Smith's potential. BUT, while it works for Smith the new role doesnt suit Quez. They should be using Paschal more if these are the routes Quez is running now.

I’d go after horn on the panthers depending on the price to acquire. I wouldn’t give up a 1st but depending on what they are asking I’d be interested.

Entirely different from your guy not getting hurt, but the game he was playing in being stopped and possibly cancelled.

Any point spread or over/under wagers are nullified and refunded as the game didn't make it past the threshold of being considered complete. If you played Tyler Boyd TD, I know Fan Duel paid that out last night. You're correct in the statement on if a player gets hurt during the game, you lose that wager on the player's props but only if the game has gone long enough to be considered complete.

There is no perfectly fair solution to this situation.

Unfortunately for the Bills they had a player almost die. Sometimes life just isn’t fair.

Finish the game, and push the playoffs back a week.  If it works out this weekend the game is not needed, so be it.

Give the Chiefs the bye and the Bills the home game if they meet in the playoffs.

Splits the benefits of the #1 seed.
