Also, one of you "push the entire season back" guys are going to have to lay out for me how that works.

You have a crapload of pre-negotiated TV windows where broadcast partners will want games.  Theyre not going to have an entire weekend with one game, Bills/Bengals and everyone else sitting and waiting.   And theyre also not going to reschedule 20 playoff games because thats a 2 way street, the NFL cant just do that unilaterally.  Theyd have to negotiate with NBC, ESPN, Fox, CBS, NFL Network....

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

The NFL will always pick money over fairness.

They put GB in prime-time this week, even though it hurts the Lions.

It doesn't hurt the Lions, they still have a game to play.  Its ideal to maintain playoff eligibility for as long as possible, but that doesn't make it "unfair"...teams all over the league have nothing to play for this weekend

Lol how is that the most important thing?

You think the league will prioritize making a little money over actually treating the teams fairly and having a bona fide playoff seeding?

That would be extremely myopic and whicher team inevitably gets screwed - Bills, Bengals, Ravens, etc -- their fans and organization would be absolutely furious

The NFL is an entertainment league.

Exactly.  If all the fans in Buffalo or Cincinnati or Baltimore are screwed out of a #1 seed and a bye, or a division title, you get into WWE stuff where results arent determined on the field.

Theyre going to play that game.  No way is it a No Contest or a tie

You're naive.  Just because they already make an "assload of money" doesn't mean they are willing to walk away from another bucket of money that they have accounted for.  That's now how business is done.

They'd be walking away from the Bill/Bengals bucket of money if they cancel the game.   ESPN will want their money back.

And again, it's cute you're calling me naive when the only other idea is to push 20-30 games back by a week when the NFL cant do that alone.

You’re naive if you think I was serious about pushing the whole league back.  I’ve been arguing against that idea since yesterday.

Then what is your solution to this?

Listening to the clip, I don't think Bart Scott is being as malicious as the headline makes him sound, but his argument is baseless and dumb nonetheless.

That said, the fact that the amount of criticism he's getting for that insinuation is 1/100000th what Skip Bayless got, when one dude merely asked a question, and another dude implied Tee Higgins was indirectly responsible for a guy almost dying, goes to show you how toxic discourse is on social media, and people arbitrarily target people to pile on just because they want to attack someone in the moment.

The solution will depend  on what happens this weekend.  If the Chiefs and Bengals win and the Bills lose, the game has no consequence.

If one of these three things does not happen, then you have to resume the Bills / Bengals game.

I think all it shows you is that everyone but FOX bosses thinks Skip Bayless is an assclown all the time and when an opportunity to have a pop at him presents itself, people take it.

Why anyone watches that crap is beyond me?? I guess it's no different than watching a staged/fake realityshow a ton of people watch. I dont get it. I guess for those with the cheap seats.

There's a difference with this type of show though because they're giving off the impression that everything is legit and real, when it's all pre-produced in the name of getting clicks and publicity. I enjoy watching professional wrestling. I go into it knowing it's pre-determined, choreographed, scripted, etc but I can suspend disbelief and enjoy the show and the performers. And no one in the wrestling business, at least in the past 35 years, has tried to fool people into thinking what they do isn't scripted and it's a legitimate competition without a pre-determined winner. It's understood by everyone over the age of 10.

That isn't the case here. This show still has these guys playing their "wrestling characters" instead of trying to provide legitimate journalism and opinions during one of the scariest things we've seen in sports.

The outpouring of support for Hamlin's charity is awesome to see, but are they still going to the same toy drive?  At a certain point there's only so much money the Buffalo area needs for toys.  Hopefully he has some other initiatives that money can go to.

Suppose a batter hits a foul ball that severely injures a fan. Would someone actually argue that it is the fault of the PITCHER? To me, that is what criticism of Tee Higgins sounds like.

Or the batter for that matter.    It is a no fault situation.   There is inherent risk in the action of tackling another player, just as there is risk when attending a baseball and sitting along the foul lines.

Obviously not a problem he expected to have. I’m sure they’ll figure out a way forward when the time is right.

Did you not watch the video where the former player did precisely that? Criticized Higgins, I mean. It’s not made up.

One guy didn’t like the way Higgins lowered his head. He was wrong. People are making it seem like Higgins is receiving all this hate and he isn’t. There was a tweet that said to look at Higgins’ Instagram to see the hate. I did and all that’s there is thousands of "Not your fault, man.” People are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Would all of the teams go to social media in disingenuous support or does one fan not matter as much because that fan isn’t a member of a union?

Not trying to sound rude or inconsiderate here, but I think we're going to get to a point where we have Hamlin fatigue.  The support he's received is incredible.  It's really nice to see people come together for a common cause and to help a young man who suffered a terrible injury on a national TV.  The fact that this was on MNF goes a long way.  I'd argue if this was a 1:00 game on a blacked out broadcast, the support wouldn't be nearly what we are seeing.

With that being said, the social media response has all the ingredients for this to turn in to some social cause where if you don't show support for Demar Hamlin openly (even though you support him quietly and privately) then you are automatically a bad person. If you cheer for a big hit and a player doesn't bounce right up, how dare you cheer, remember Damar Hamlin? Twitter and social media has been full of hateful comments.  Hell, Cole Beasley was trending because of his vaccine status and people questioning COULD the vaccine be a factor?  Not even saying it happened because of it but asking if it could have been a factor.  I find it to be a legit question.  Shouldn't we explore every avenue? This is going to sound like a stretch but I don't think it is...it reminds me of social media after George Floyd.  There was a lot of unity after that incident but then all hell broke loose.  I know, they are completely different situations and not even comparable....I'm just talking about the social media mob responses.

We've all shown support for Demar Hamlin and we all want to see him fully recover.  Hell, I think we'd all love to see him suit up for the Bills next year.  With that being said, this was a freak accident.  The NFL is not at fault, Tee Higgins is not at fault, equipment and tackling form is not at fault.  It was a freak medical accident.

Some idiot created a fake twitter account and portrayed himself as a doctor who gave Hamlin a booster shot on 12/26.  That was debunked quickly, but it goes to show the world we live in.

I don't know if they can move the money around but he may need it for himself as well. When he recovers it's possible he may not play football again
