Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

On the Raiders O stats.  Renfrow and Waller have been on IR this season, hence why Hollins and Moreau have had some targets etc; their roster depth isn't after those 4

I don't know, maybe I'm just stuck in the past and how things used to/should be done, but Derek Carr stepping away after being benched is a terrible way to handle a situation.  Don't care if it was a mutual agreement.  Sets a terrible example for young kids IMO.  What happened to getting benched and taking it like a man?  Probably can't say take it like a man anymore either. Lose your starting job with dignity sound better? They say they don't want to cause a distraction but that's a weak excuse.

What are young kids learning today?   If you go to college and can't win a position....just transfer.  If you can't win a job at the new school...transfer again.  If you get benched in the NFL, walk away from the team.  No need to be there to help the young QB getting reps and teach based off of what you've learned over your career and during this season.  I lost my job but I'm still making tens of millions, I need to take time for myself.  Who cares about the team.

Probably an overreaction on my part, but I just think this is a very bad look and it's not just Derek Carr, it's sports in general.

Douglas, Douglas, Douglas, we all remember that NYG game 👀

I know, made me chuckle a lot. And no doubt someone in New England will be frothing at the mouth about it.

This feels a bit different to me than the Mariota situation where he basically bailed after getting benched. It's clear the Raiders are moving on from Carr. They don't even want him suiting up because an injury guarantees his contract next year and $7M for the year beyond. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders asked him to step away. There's really no point in having him around if you're not going to have him participate in any team activities.

I doubt Doug wanted to punt the Washington game in 2020. Would bet it came from the FO.

The Raiders don't want Carr practicing with the team.  Even if Carr gets injured in practice the Raiders are on the hook for the $40M+.  It's not just games where players can get injured.

The Raiders will never come out and say "We don't want to have to pay the player this money on February 15, so he's being sent home."  Even though it's being characterized by the Raiders as "mutual", this is an organization-driven decision.

OK, so the injury clause makes sense but why not at least have him in the owners box, have him in sweats on the sideline.   Just don't like how it looks.  Again, I'm probably in the dwindling part of society who prefers things a different way.

I won’t deny not being a Hurts fan coming into the season, but I sure as hell wasn’t a Wentz fan either. I started jumping off his wagon about midway thru the 2019 season. Never felt he’d ever be more than average to slightly above average again. I may have given Wentz too much credit.

What date is the quote from?  At the time it was said it probably wasn't that outlandish a statement.  With coaching from Sirianni and Steichen, Hurts has become a better player.  Hurts wouldn't be the same player playing with the Colts last year, or the Commanders this year.

Remember what your buddy Micah Parsons said -- "the system"

My guess is it comes down to things happening behind the scenes that the public isn’t privy to.

Can we talk about that "Nah - Rosa Parks" sweatshirt

Sheil and Solak just keep getting worse and worse in their podcast.  Solak has always been unbearable and now Shiel coming with the takes that CJGJ was never even an above average safety for us.

Hurts was always going to develop and improve wherever he went.  He has a top tier work ethic and drive.  Intangibles men's something as much as you people wanted to laugh it off.  All that talent that Wentz has but his **** attitude and lack of work ethic have run his career to a dead end.

If it is, then I feel like I’m overreacting as well.  The whole thing is a bad look imo

I think the word talent makes this quote tricky. Talent wise, I agree, Wentz has more TALENT.  They guy has a cannon and he's still pretty mobile for a 6-5, 240 lb QB.  Not what he was pre torn ACL but he can still get around.   What he lacks is pocket presence, decision making and the intangibles that Hurts seemingly brings to the table.

I don't think anyone is saying they would rather have Wentz to Hurts as of today.  That would be crazy.  Hurts has answered A LOT of questions this year and he's taken a huge step to show he is the guy.  The injury worries me not because it says he is injury prone, but his style of play is going to lead to more injuries.

I was a big Carson Wentz guy and I still pull for him to turn it around.  I just have no idea what the hell happened to him.  He was on his way to being special.  Before he tore his ACL, I thought we had our QB for the next decade and I'm guessing even the biggest Wentz haters can't even deny that.  I'm sure there was some sort of mental gymnastics he had to play with himself seeing Nick Foles do what he did along along with the statue and everything else that followed.  The Eagles don't win SB52 without Carson Wentz putting them in the position they were in before he got hurt.  It's easy to say Carson should have put all of that behind him but then more injuries, cries for Nick Foles, the weird as hell 2020 season, the Clowney concussion and adding of Jalen Hurts was just the perfect storm for him to never get it back together mentally.

Not making excuses for what's happened to Carson Wentz but when you sit back and look at the progressive downfall it does become clearer that he might be a prime case for a mental health study.  From the absolute top with MVP talk to injured star watching the backup get all of the glory to more injuries a pandemic season and drafting another QB....there's a lot that tested him and he failed.

Because if he gets a hangnail while with the team, then the clause triggers.   Meanwhile, if he gets that same hangnail while away from the team, it is not going to trigger the clause.

After the conversation about the WR catch record, I went and did the research.  The Eagles are one of two franchises without a WR with 100 catches in a season.

Thats pathetic.  And now with a 17 game season, and even with AJ Brown, we still wont.  Brown has 80 right now. No way he catches 20 balls  in the next 2 games.
