Yeah i didnt even think about game checks

Gotta think they still get paid regardless. I don’t think it’s that complicated.

As far as incentives go, well, sometimes life just isn’t fair

Not the right call IMO.  The Bills will be robbed of the #1 seed after going into KC and beating the Chiefs, something they knew they would probably need to get the #1 seed.

Well the Bills shoulda put away the Vikings or Jets when they had the chance. Life’s a B sometimes

It's the easiest call for the league, requires no game be played, no changing of schedules etc.  And no it's not fair.

On the flip side, Chiefs could have beaten the ishy Colts and we would t need to have this discussion.

It also impacts the Ravens if they win this weekend, costing them a division title.

There is not a 'fair' option.  Everything they do screws someone over in some way, and whomever it is will likely complain about it (at least the fans of that team will...) but there's literally no alternative that is 100% 'fair'.  That's life.  "Fair" isn't one of the promises made.   Life isn't 'fair'.   I mean... anyone that needs to see an example of that, look at the situation that caused this whole ripple effect.  Nothing 'fair' about what happened to Hamlin.  But, bad things happen, and we have to make the best of bad situations often.

I was really hoping they'd go with the random seeding option as was originally discussed by the players association.

Bills and Bengals each put up their best Madden player... they have to play with the current Bills-Bengals roster... play to the best of 7.  Final score determined by the number of games.  Each win = 7 points.  First team to 28 wins.

Those are probably just paid out.  The bigger question is what to do with bonus incentives that are based on stats.  I think the best way to deal with that is to take the average per game played during the year (maybe a min of 5 games or something) and apply those numbers to stats that impact contract bonuses.  Again, nothing will be perfect here either and there stand to be a few individual winners/losers.

I half jokingly said something similar a few days ago. Either the head coaches, or a player delegate from each team should play madden to settle this.

You could even make it a PPV.

I'd watch that! That's a fantastic idea.

Yep, there is no fair solution as was pointed out two days back when we started this discussion in here.  This is absolutely the least worst solution for everyone concerned.  Sucks most for the Ravens and maybe the Bills.  Bengals are a wash as they get the division but can't play for the 1st seed.  Best for the Chiefs.  Open up to any wider schedule adjustments and many many more are affected one way or the other.

I figured it out.

Have some sort of voting system put in place where the best players in each conference are selected for every position. Then have a game where the best of the AFC goes up against the best of the NFC like an all star game. The winner determines which conference is champion. This is the fairest solution as it negates seeding while keeping the schedule intact and also giving almost everyone an award. And who wouldn’t want to see the best vs the best?

From NFL.com, Troy Vincent pointing out that his office will be making suggestions to Goodell that will include considering "winning and winning percentage" in the event the game is not replayed.  The rest of the article shows the playoff implications should the game not be played.  That's the NFL test balloon going up.  They have already decided what they want to do and are now testing the idea publicly.  It really is the least worst solution overall for all 32 teams and the entire league community in general.

I think Jared Allen has better numbers than Freeney. DF has him in longevity, but Allen was a monster, with 7 years in a row of double digit sacks.

Win % is used in other sports to determine playoff seeding so it’s not something "unusual” imo.

I travel a lot and listen to other areas sports radio stations.  WIP is not near as bad as people make it out to be.  Eskin and Cataldi and Gigilio obviously.

For as much as I hate the 12's and their bandwagon tendencies, I also listen to a lot of different teams sports talk, especially leading up to the draft, and Hawks fans are actually quite tolerable when they call sports talk shows.

Gonna beat the dead horse,  win percentage is used for the same amount of games played, unless, like in MLB, they determine those games do not have an impact on the win percentage impacting the final standings.

This 1 game has a direct impact on the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals having the #1 seed, and also the Ravens ability to win the AFC north.

You are gifting the #1 seed to the Chiefs, and not giving the Bills and Bengals, who both beat the Chiefs, the opportunity to get into a tie with them and reap the rewards of beating the Chiefs.

Then you have the Ravens, who can beat the Bengals this week, and not win the NFC north because the Bengals did not make up a game they could very easily lose.

At this point, the NFL will make a decision and it will have a major impact on the seasons of 4 teams, and I am most likely going to disagree with the decision, and I have stated in this post that I have a very good case.
