NFL wants the packers to win

For every bad offseason veteran pick up, he’s got one good draft pick.  Basically the inverse ratio.

For all the discussion about what this team needs for next season... add "big back" or 'short yardage" back right there at the top for me.  That doesn't mean they need to spend huge resources on it, but they absolutely need to have a plan for it this offseason.  They can't leave it to chance.  And they can't leave the plan of using Hurts as the battering ram again.

Ajayi retired, whereabouts unknown, Blount is sipping Margaritas in Cancun and polishing his ring, Henry has a job, who'd you have in mind?

Rookie guy, I'm guessing. That'll be a third or fourth rounder then, no? Even later?

Howie has no time for that stuff....track record.

I don't want to.  :nonono:

I'm rooting for the Packers tonight. My BIL, nephew and niece are at the game and I know they're colder than a witch's...

I'm extending Chauncey and Hargrave definitely.

Torn on this

CGJ definitely

But Hargrave is going to be costly

Willams has looked better of late

Davis, Williams, Draft Pick, Suh/Joseph

Could use Hargrave money to keep Bradberry around maybe

Howie needs to make time for that.  Ajayi was acquired for a 4th round pick.  Blount was basically a vet minimum type signing after the draft.  Even Jordan Howard was brought in for a low cost.    I'm fine with scouring rosters and finding a guy like Jordan Howard or Jay Ajayi and trade for a guy on a rookie deal.  I don't have a specific target in mind, but have had quite a few I liked in the draft over the years and watched as we ignored that position.

So if you're Howie, what are you looking at for a possible hurts extension? This is the second year in a row he's missed time, and it obviously has a negative impact on the team. Are you willing you give up 40-50 mil for a guy who seems pretty likely to miss games based on his style of play?

So basically the Lions are playing for Seattle tonight?  If the Lions win, Seattle gets in and Packers are eliminated?

Nobody should be trading a boatload for Payton, the dude went to one super bowl with a hall of fame quarterback

He is a massive upgrade over Staley. Staley is Hackett lvl idiot

I make him play out his contract and give him no extension.

Thought could have gotten Damian Harris for cheap

Depends on the post-season.

If he delivers, you pay the man.

If he doesn't, you don't.

I want the Packers in simply because I think they have a punchers chance of beating SF, whereas Seattle does not.  That paves a better road for us.

If and when Eagles trade down in the 1st RD, pretty good bet RD5/RD6 picks will be part of those deals.

Absolute value in those RDs for a power back.

I think this playoff run could affect that to some degree. But either way, he’s likely getting a pretty  big contract.

D'Onta Foreman. Cheap and has the size and toughness we currently lack. He would not be a Sanders replacement however. More like the Jordan Howard back that was never replaced. It's Sanders or a draft pick on day 2.

I would do the same, but I don't think hurts would be down for that knowing he would likely get hurt and have that impact his contract. The guy is full of himself, look at the shirt he wore today "I'm back". It's great the team loves him but I can definitely see him sit out without an extension

Yeah, the shirt was in bad taste.  Regardless of the persona he puts out there, I think he is self centered.

I want the Packers to win not just because I think maybe they could knock off the Niners(but probably won’t) but because as a football fan Rodgers in the playoffs is just a lot more fun than Geno Smith. And I still have a grudge against the Seahawks for beating us a billion years in a row, and I’m sick of the Pete Carroll  "I’m 75 but I act like I’m 25” shtick.

He doesn't have a choice.  He's under contract.  He either plays for his contract, or he doesn't play.  That's what a leader does.   Prove he deserves the big money extension.  And I have the franchise tag available for a year without a concern.

If he chooses to sit out, that's on him and will go a long way to him losing the locker room.  Sanders played on his fourth year, no extension for him.  What makes Hurts special?

I was a huge Hurts hater and have happily eaten my crow, but what you are asking is a separate, new question.  Some have posted all this data that running QB's don't get hurt more often...I say that data is limited and BS.

Part of what makes Hurts special is the fact that he is a physical runner.  Everyone should ask themselves, honestly, how they feel about their team's offense being built around relying on physical running from their franchise quarterback.  How well is that blueprint going to age?

We saw how effective the offense was today against a practice squad when the running needed to be eliminated.

Unless the Eagles make it to the SB, I'm letting Hurts play out next year.

Dallas is 4-4 on the road this season and would need to win three road games to get to the SB.

I would not be at all surprised if Brady makes it 4-5.
