Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I was a huge Hurts hater and have happily eaten my crow, but what you are asking is a separate, new question.  Some have posted all this data that running QB's don't get hurt more often...I say that data is limited and BS.

Part of what makes Hurts special is the fact that he is a physical runner.  Everyone should ask themselves, honestly, how they feel about their team's offense being built around relying on physical running from their franchise quarterback.  How well is that blueprint going to age?

We saw how effective the offense was today against a practice squad when the running needed to be eliminated.

Unless the Eagles make it to the SB, I'm letting Hurts play out next year.

Yes to the bolded.

And even if the Eagles make it to the SB... I still make Hurts play out next year.

Ideally, as Hurts continues to develop as a QB, they would go the route Andy Reid went with McNabb.

McNabb was a "physical” runner, especially his first 2 years.  Eventually, as he matured, he ran much less and the offense around him was adjusted accordingly.

Torn on this

CGJ definitely

But Hargrave is going to be costly

Willams has looked better of late

Davis, Williams, Draft Pick, Suh/Joseph

Could use Hargrave money to keep Bradberry around maybe

I'm assuming Cox is gone. What about BG? No clue on what to do there. Dare I say Kelce for one more year? Only so much money to go around with a Hurts extension looming. I don't know if we can afford to lose Hargrave's interior play though. The lines are our bread and butter so they have to take precedence. I like Williams, but not as a starter. I guess we can be "fine there" with a trio of Davis, Hargrave, Williams as the interior guys. Use a pick on a developmental player and/or add a cheaper vet like we did this year.

I know we aren't playing next week but out of curiosity when are they releasing the schedule for next weekend?

Why? That’s a terrible business decision. Sign him if you can before the cap goes up with Sunday ticket and the other QB contracts that are coming up.

I trust Hargrave  to age far more gracefully over the next 3-4 years than Bradberry. Pro bowl caliber DT’s generally have enormous shelf lifes. Entirely plausible he’s still a major contributor for us 5 years from now

Tomorrow morning, I think.  Might come out tonight... The only spot not nailed down is #7 in the NFC.  Might be able to get it all worked out very soon.

Lions recover fumble

A few observations:

- Lionel Joseph was a fantastic mid-season pickup;  He isn't 100% but who is?  Howie strikes again.

- Driscoll was servicable at RT and got more help than last week ;  he needs to step up if Lane can't come back ; good step forward today

- Boston Scott per usual against the Giants

Howie needs to make time for that.  Ajayi was acquired for a 4th round pick.  Blount was basically a vet minimum type signing after the draft.  Even Jordan Howard was brought in for a low cost.    I'm fine with scouring rosters and finding a guy like Jordan Howard or Jay Ajayi and trade for a guy on a rookie deal.  I don't have a specific target in mind, but have had quite a few I liked in the draft over the years and watched as we ignored that position.

Oh, I fully agree with your assessment. Howie won't move, however, until the need becomes dire.

Our depth chart can handle the work...until they can't. Then he'll move. FA probably...cupboards may be bare, tho...

7 playoff outcomes.  Don't overreact to the exact reason each outcome happens.  Globally, aerial view, how does each outcome impact your attitude towards the franchise, direction, staff, foundation, etc?  What is your level of disappointment or satisfaction with each?

Eagles lose a not that close divisional playoff game.

Lose SB when clearly outclassed by BUF/KC/CIN.

Lose tight SB.

Win SB.

I'm not quite comfortable with the Mcnabb career arc as the aspirational model for Hurts.

Because I think its a worse business decision to sign him to the money that teams are giving out to the likes of Kyler Murray.  Am I gambling?  Yup.   Do I feel the odds are in my favor?  Yup.  He needs to play next year and be as effective as this year without having to rely on his legs so much... because relying on his legs this much leads to injuries and injuries lead to ineffectiveness and ineffectiveness leads to early exits.

The flip side is to offer him a contract that he likely turns down any way... which is an incentive based contract, focusing on injury and has a few outs in it so that I don't get stuck with him at a $50M cap number when he's no longer capable of playing at that level anymore.  If he's willing to sign a contract with lots of contract escalators based on games missed... then sure, sign him.

The need is already dire.  It's been dire all year.  They proved against the Saints that their depth couldn't handle the work.

Check me on this...

...but we can only end up picking #28 (lose DG), #30 (lose CG), #31 (lose SB), #32 (win SB) with our first-round pick in the 2023 draft.

Edited:  And yes, I know MIA's pick was forfeited.

That's my thinking as well.  I trust Rogers to maybe beat a SF or TB or Dallas more than Geno Freaking Smith.

Gainwell and Scott disagree, vehemently. The coaches just didnt call their numbers...

Apples and pomegranates.

McNabb had double digit rushes in exactly TWO games in his entire career.  TWO.

Hurts has 15 double digit rushing games already.   Hurts ran NINE times today, in a game that it was clear that the message to him was to avoid running at all costs.  Granted four of those were kneel downs at the end, but he still ran too much, especially that QB sneak. (Bad coaching decision, IMO.)  That's true for McNabb too.  His 11 carry game, 3 were kneel downs.  So, we can eliminate one of those double digit games as truly double digits.

Just not even close to a comparison that can be used.

He has missed two straight games once in his entire football career. He has missed 3 games in the last 38 games as a starter. Not much of an injury concern to me. But that’s my opinion.

But odds? The odds of finding a replacement that will be better than he has been are very low. Look around the league. A lot of teams have QB issues. The grass isn’t always greener.

Helluva game here

Lions won't back down.

They won't back down.

Hey baby....

Why not?  McNabb is still the best QB in franchise history.
