Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

The AJ Brown trade has been a f'in home-run, best Eagles trade for a player since Jason Peters?

Dallas or Bucs we definitely play the last Sunday game. Feels like thats what the NFL is setting up for.

What time would that be?

We went from having zero #1 WRs for what feels like an eternity to two #1 WRs.

Also this picture hits different now, Milton Williams is better than Alim McNeill, the player that Tom Donahoe threw this hissy fit over.

They’re both good players. They wouldn’t have missed either way.

Way too soon to say whose better since one was better the first 3/4 of their career as well as asked to do different things. McNeil arguably would have been better this year in this scheme.

They made Cowboys/Bucs MNF? Wow.

Tells you what they think of the Seahawks when the west coast Niners/Seahawks game gets the 4 Saturday slot over the Jags.

It's a BYE week for the 49ers. I could see the Giants knocking off Minny though setting up a tough second round for them against Dallas.

I would have preferred a more comfortable win but I'm generally satisfied with today. Well, yesterday at this point. It just felt to me as though the Eagles eliminated about 40% of their playbook -- every play with a quarterback run possibility in the design -- and just tried to make it work. And they suffered because of that. You could tell there was something missing. And to add to that, Jalen Hurts looked rusty. And he made two boneheaded plays -- the interception in the endzone in a situation where you're very happy to take the three points, and his decision to throw the ball away with about three and a half minutes to go in the game rather than simply fall down and keep the clock running.

Thank God for Reed Blankenship. I'm talking about the onside kick recovery. That play just saved a whole lot of angst.

Elliott looked good. Kern continues to suck. Boston Scott had another impressive game against the Giants.

It was annoying they couldn't get sacks on the Giants quarterbacks. And they had a lot of opportunities to make plays on the ball but failed to get any interceptions.

I hated the way they allowed the Giants to drive about seventy yards in five plays. I hated the disgusting big kick return they allowed.

But I'm happy to get a win. I'm happy we set a team record for most wins in a season. I'm happy we got a bye, which is in effect a "win" next week. I'll take it.

We can play a lot better than we did today. I'm sure of that.

I'm still a little too wound up to go to bed.

Oh, and I'm happy the Saints lost.

Not to sound like a negative Nancy, but it feels to me like the eagles peaked too early.

Now, obviously we were being conservative with Hurts. And we’ll have 2 weeks to prepare for our first playoff game. The returning injured players should be more up to speed while Lane and Sweat come back. So we should have a lot of returning fire power.

But it sure seems like we lost our edge over the past few weeks.

Let’s be a bit more precise — we lost our edge when our QB got hurt.

Last night wasn’t a pretty return to the scene but at least we have a chance to get our edge back.

The last 4 games have given zero reason of optimism. The coaching staff has been horrendous on either side of the ball in each of the last 4 games. That does not inspire a lot of confidence.

Yes losing Hurts was a factor, but a good coaching staff tries to make up for that deficiency. This one just decided to let the backup throw 30+ times each game. They also had a qb coming off a shoulder injury throw 35 times, and could've been more had he not scrambled for a couple and got sacked a few times.

And then the defense, when playing against the only decent opponent in 4 weeks, gave up almost 40 points and a damn near perfect passing display

I could see a Seumalo extension. Shouldn't be any bank breaker. His teammates really seem to love him. Johnson will back for the next two years. Draft a OT project early on day 3.
RB could be drafted day 2 and you could sign a cheap vet, I mentioned Foreman from the Panthers.
If Howie doesn't go for another 1 year band-aid across from Slay you have to use a day 1 pick on CB it seems. There's not much there in terms of high upside outside DB's on this team so round 1 makes a lot of sense.
Very interesting and important off season. A ton of work to do with critical decisions looming.

I would say it could be a rip the band-aid off kind of year. If Kelce retires, let Cox, Graham, Sanders and Hargrave all go. That helps the cap.

Extend Hurts, Seumalo, Chauncey. But the team will take a step back and probably put a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of guys here. It's not this front offices style either to do something like this, so I doubt it.

It's a shame in the 2.5 games without Lane Johnson that the Eagles didn't get any kinds of creative with Dillard/Mailata to see what they have on the roster.  I understand that moving Mailata to RT to get Dillard at LT potentially weakens both tackle spots.

What it really comes down to is Dillard is a tremendous bust.  Him not even being able to contribute when a man goes down forces the Eagles to use a 4th round sub-300 lb G/T as Lane's backup.  Nothing against Driscoll.  He battles, he just isn't a tackle.  He has no base, he cant set.

Andre Dillard cost the Eagles a 1st, 4th and 6th round pick in the 2019 draft (not a deep draft at all) and can't even get on the field.   FWIW, the 4th rounder was pick 127.  Tony Pollard was 128.

Not sure if you saw my posts from after the game regarding Smith and his 1st half of the season stats vs 2nd half of the season.  Crazy to think what he could be and also shows how damn good Brown was this year.

So far Lovie Smith also Browns DC Joe Woods have been fired.

Not a doubt in my mind that they will look great in 2 weeks.

For fun I figured I'd throw out the question of the ideal matchups and who you think it will end up being for the Eagles to get to the Super Bowl... and win it.

Obviously, the first game has to be between Seahawks, Giants, Cowboys and Bucs.  Who do you prefer?

After that it gets more crazy... the only team that couldn't end up facing the Eagles in the NFCCG is the Seahawks.  Who would you prefer to see, and how likely do you think it would be?

Super Bowl matchup... all 7 AFC opponents are possible, but not all 7 are likely.  I don't see the Dolphins navigating their way through that gauntlet.

Anyway, my answers:  Seahawks are my preference, for obvious reasons, but I doubt very much that they find a way to beat the 49ers, even with Purdy.  Which means I think the most likely scenario is facing the Giants... again.  This is something that I would rather not do.  Familiarity being the concern.  Of the more likely scenarios, my preference would be to matchup against the Bucs for some revenge of last year's playoffs.  That means that the first round has to follow the chalk.  Home teams win.  I'm not sure if the Bucs would actually be favored over the Boys, but frankly, I don't see why they shouldn't be.  Records aside... Dallas has really struggled against the Bucs and Brady has owned the Cowboys in his career.  Plus, its the Cowboys... in January.  We know how that script works.   They will be overrated by Vegas, because they will be overrated by the bettors... then they will flop.

Round 2 - Best matchup for the Eagles is likely the Vikings.  Can they go into SF and beat the 49ers?  I think it's possible.   So, that follows the 2017 breakdown... NFC South opponent in Round 1, take advantage of an opponent after playing a tight physical game... and the travel would be considerable for Minnesota.  And we matched up with Minnesota in 2017 for the NFCCG.  Will any Vikings faithful come here like morons again?

SB - Best matchup would obviously be the Dolphins.  After that, the field tightens.  KC, Bengals and Bills are clearly the head of the class over there.  And it will likely be one of those 3.  Bills seem to be the one that stands out to me right now as who it will end up being... which does follow 2017 a little bit... matching up with another AFC East opponent.  The Bills being the preference as well, because while Josh Allen can make every throw in the game, and can escape... he is also prone to make some mistakes.  That would be the recipe for winning that game.  He's more mistake prone than Mahomes or Burrow, IMO.  The Bengals might be the better matchup given their OL concerns.  Needless to say, I am not sure the Eagles would be favored in a SB Matchup with any of those 3.

So... Bucs, Vikings, Bills.   To me, this is the combination of the most likely/preferred matchups to the SB.

Dallas favored by 3 on the road in Tampa is hilarious

Snap counts:

I wonder about Jordan Davis. I thought we'd be seeing more of him by now but he only played 8 snaps on defense.

Called it.

If I were a betting man, I'd likely take the Bucs plus the points.  I think the Bucs win that game.

Definitely a disappointing rookie season.  For me, the disappointment isn't so much in the production, but the snaps.  I don't figure a NT to get a lot of love from the stat sheet, but I do expect him to be on the field.

Hopefully he matures in the offseason, gets into better shape and can contribute much more next year and beyond.

Both Georgia boys, Dean and Davis, have been disappointments. I am especially disappointed in Dean given that the Eagles LBs are not notably accomplished.
