Players in that range the last two drafts.  Several were "tantalizing".

Yep, think the last 2 drafts were much better for players in that range than this year’s draft. This year super strong in the top 5-6, but after that I think falls off pretty significantly, and the range the Eagles are in is exactly where the first round has a major drop off.

    Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Yeah. I was a little disappointed to see what I did.

The Overshown probably should have been a CB. But Im planning more to re-sign Bradberry, and let Edwards walk so Overshown was more necessary.

I was also happy to add 3 DL, and 2 OTs.

Yeah, but they won the Super Bowl on Christmas Eve, so you know they're a dynamo.

A little perplexed with the notion that we need extra picks more than talent.  I know we'll need to see how the draft boards look closer to the draft.  A top CB or OT prospect would do wonders for this franchise at the premium positions.  Figure out RB, LB, and S on days 2 and 3.

We may need 1CB, 1 S, 1LB.

Definitely need 1-2 DEs, 1-2 DTs, Need 1-2 RBs.

Thats lots of players. We have 5 draft picks.

It's a weird year for prospects.  Players like Skoronski are in a lot of people's top 10 but he has, reportedly, 32 inch arms which would be short for a Guard let alone an OT.  In any other year, he would seem to be a later first or second.  Some people think Kelee Ringo is great but some people think he's a 3rd round talent because he lacks agility to stay with receivers.  Bresee is the same.  I think there's the most depth at DE but even there it's probably Anderson, Murphy and Foskey that are sure to have 1st round grades.

I don't know that we will have a good sense of how teams see it this year aside from QB.  I am definitely ok with them trading down because I think volume in this draft is probably the better approach.

Not a fan of getting trucked by a backup QB for a TD

Fair enough. Build the Meme...

If you get a chance at a legit 1st round talent (i.e. you're picking top 10-15 depending on the draft), you take it. No big trade downs.

The trade down should happen with the 2nd 1st rounder.

If only there was a way to acquire NFL-ready talent before the draft.   Hmmm.

Not all of the positions you listed will be starters.  Not all of the positions have scarcity of available talent.  The situation isn't as grave as some would believe.

I wonder what the possibility is of trading for a top CB.  Howie has had struggles drafting CBs so why not maybe trade for a proven guy?

For fun I figured I'd throw out the question of the ideal matchups and who you think it will end up being for the Eagles to get to the Super Bowl... and win it.

Obviously, the first game has to be between Seahawks, Giants, Cowboys and Bucs.  Who do you prefer?

After that it gets more crazy... the only team that couldn't end up facing the Eagles in the NFCCG is the Seahawks.  Who would you prefer to see, and how likely do you think it would be?

Super Bowl matchup... all 7 AFC opponents are possible, but not all 7 are likely.  I don't see the Dolphins navigating their way through that gauntlet.

Anyway, my answers:  Seahawks are my preference, for obvious reasons, but I doubt very much that they find a way to beat the 49ers, even with Purdy.  Which means I think the most likely scenario is facing the Giants... again.  This is something that I would rather not do.  Familiarity being the concern.  Of the more likely scenarios, my preference would be to matchup against the Bucs for some revenge of last year's playoffs.  That means that the first round has to follow the chalk.  Home teams win.  I'm not sure if the Bucs would actually be favored over the Boys, but frankly, I don't see why they shouldn't be.  Records aside... Dallas has really struggled against the Bucs and Brady has owned the Cowboys in his career.  Plus, its the Cowboys... in January.  We know how that script works.   They will be overrated by Vegas, because they will be overrated by the bettors... then they will flop.

Round 2 - Best matchup for the Eagles is likely the Vikings.  Can they go into SF and beat the 49ers?  I think it's possible.   So, that follows the 2017 breakdown... NFC South opponent in Round 1, take advantage of an opponent after playing a tight physical game... and the travel would be considerable for Minnesota.  And we matched up with Minnesota in 2017 for the NFCCG.  Will any Vikings faithful come here like morons again?

SB - Best matchup would obviously be the Dolphins.  After that, the field tightens.  KC, Bengals and Bills are clearly the head of the class over there.  And it will likely be one of those 3.  Bills seem to be the one that stands out to me right now as who it will end up being... which does follow 2017 a little bit... matching up with another AFC East opponent.  The Bills being the preference as well, because while Josh Allen can make every throw in the game, and can escape... he is also prone to make some mistakes.  That would be the recipe for winning that game.  He's more mistake prone than Mahomes or Burrow, IMO.  The Bengals might be the better matchup given their OL concerns.  Needless to say, I am not sure the Eagles would be favored in a SB Matchup with any of those 3.

So... Bucs, Vikings, Bills.   To me, this is the combination of the most likely/preferred matchups to the SB.

First game I think I prefer Seattle. Cowboys are by far the strongest of the 4 teams, so I’d rather someone else play them. Bucs, Tom Brady is always a threat. Between the giants and Seattle, tough to beat a divisional opponent 3 times in the same season. Seattle will also have that long travel time to the east coast.

I haven't taken a good look at this draft class yet but if the adage holds that there are actually only 15 true first round talents in most drafts, I would prefer they don't trade down.  The Eagles should take the best DE, DT, or OL available.  If the board doesn't fall their way there could still be the top CB on the board.

Young, Stroud, Anderson, Carter, Murphy, Tyree Wilson are all likely to be gone.  That would leave Bresee (no damn way), Ringo, or Skoronski available -- depending on if other QBs get drafted in the top half.

If we use Tankathon's Mock, then the Board at #10 would look like this.  I have bolded the players I would be happy seeing the Eagles take ... 4 CBs and Skoronski.  They also have Anthony Richardsonontheir Board at that point, so if I'm Howie, I'm looking for a QB-hungry team as a trading partner.  The teams picking from 11 through 20 are TEN, HOU, NYJ, NE, GB, WSH, PIT, DET, TB, SEA.  Plenty of good possibilities in that list, and the trade history for past 10th picks has been

10 = 12, 84

10 = 15, 45

10 = 16, 49

10 = 20, 52, next 3rd

10 = 27, 91, next 1st

10 = 30, 94, 119, next 1st

Right now, the Eagles are going into next year with 5 draft picks and 20 million in cap room with 44 players under contract.

Hargrave, CJG, Miles Sanders and others are free agents.

If the plan they made comes to fruition, then you also have to replace Cox and Kelce as June 1st cuts.

Cox, 2.5 million dead 1.5 in savings.

Kelce, 9.6 million dead 1.5 in savings.

When Ian Cunningham gets a GM job, and the Bears get comp picks instead of us, it'll show that the system is a joke.

I’d like extra picks just because a large extension with Hurts is looming. But I don’t want extra picks if it means on losing out on a top prospect.

I do expect Howie to trade down at some point since we’re pretty light on day 3 picks.

First draft I got he was still there at 9 so I didn’t chance it

I believe CB can wait until the 2024 Draft.  Although the way the Board is currntly looking, there are a number of CBs to thinks about in the late 1st Round and throughout the 2nd Round.  Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson from TCU is a CB I would be very happy to see wearing an Eagles uniform.

The counter argument is that there are no clear cut top picks so you increase the chances to improve the roster by adding more picks.  If the team has players with top 10 to 15 grades at any position aside from receiver or QB, I think they should make the pick. I think this may be a draft where they have more 2nd round grades on players at positions.  Why take a player like Skoronski or Ringo at 10 if you think he would normally be a 2nd round pick.

This always bothers me. Is it the Air time? Music, Gameboy, napping, whatever, it's not like they're doing gassers up and down the aisle...

 Different from going to LA or Frisco, for instance?

The logistics are the same, 2hrs or 6 hrs. Fly, land, checkin, practice, meetings, PLAY.

What does the flight time have to do with it?

My assumption is that Bradberry does not re-sign with the team and Slay isn't a reliable above average player given his age.  They need to add talent.
