When did the browns stop being the browns for someone else to take over?

They lend it out from time to time.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Now that seeding is set, I want to circle back to the AFC vs NFC debate. Seeds are as follows.

1. Chiefs/Eagles

2. Bills/San Francisco

3. Bengals/Vikings

4. Jags/Bucs

5. Chargers/Cowboys

6. Ravens/Giants

7. Dolphins/Seahawks

If we were to pick the better team in each group, IMO it would be:

1. Chiefs

2. Bills

3. Bengals

4. Bucs slightly

5. Cowboys slightly

6. Ravens

7. Dolphins

I could be swayed with the Bucs/Cowboys arguments, but everything else points to AFC being the stronger conference. I'm not saying the NFC has no chance and there is any given Sunday but I think the majority of the time, AFC comes out on top.

Now do the bottom feeders... I'm curious how the bottom 7 rank against one another.

Missed out on the 2 seed and have to play Buffalo on the road in the playoffs, which should be a barrel full of chimps

Well, they had to beat Buffalo in order to do that.  The Hamlin critical injury and subsequent suspension was essentially deemed a "no fault" and both teams had to abide by what that meant -- or continue the game at a later date.  Buffalo lost out on the #1 seed just the same as the Bengals lost an opportunity for the #2 seed.  Buffalo actually had the #1 seed in hand at that point.

Most people agree suspending the game was the only correct outcome.  The decision not to resume it is another matter.  Whether the Bengals or Bills had any input as to whether the game be resumed is another question.  The final decision by the league was there was no reasonable mechanism in place to finish the game.  The correct approach would be to make the best of a difficult situation.  The wrong approach is to whine and groan like the Bengals did.

They're fortunate the Ravens were down to their 3rd QB, who had never played an NFL game.  Their attitude could have been a distraction and a loss, in which case the rightful outcome would have been for them to be the #6 seed.

Do your own work!

1. Texans/Bears

2. Colts/Cardinals

3. Broncos/Rams

4. Raiders/Falcons

5. Titans/Panthers

6. Browns/Saints

7. Jets/Packers

A lot harder to pick the better team, but the bolded is who I would go with.

A little perplexed with the notion that we need extra picks more than talent.  I know we'll need to see how the draft boards look closer to the draft.  A top CB or OT prospect would do wonders for this franchise at the premium positions.  Figure out RB, LB, and S on days 2 and 3.

Drafts are for the future, free agency to fill holes. Be curious what Howie does as far as extensions and free agency before suggesting what he might do.  Another factor may come in what coaching changes they face.  That may change some approaches.  I do think with Howie we have to rename BPA as Best Value Available.

So Seahawks won and Packers lost, while Bengals won and Ravens lost, making all the unfair talk meaningless.

The real people that got screwed were the friends we made along the way.

Not so fast my friend, the Bengals very well may have to travel to Buffalo. Life is unfair and so is NFL football

I would probably pick the Falcons and Saints, but the whole exercise has a "tallest midget” feel to it.

Random, but if they can manage to get players to want to go there and Fields progresses some more...the Bears might be pretty good next year. They have insane cap space and the number one pick..which I would trade down from, personally.

I would take Colts over Cardinals, better O line and Taylor back from injury, just need a QB

If Rodgers retires / leaves, Jets over Packers.

May as well give Fields next year.  Get the best player at #1, and fill holes with young free agents.

There really is not a FA they have that is not either old, or just sucks.  The only guy I would bring back is Montgomery, who should not command a big contract anyways.

If they sign the right 3 or 4 big time FA's, and draft well, they can fix this team fast.

Very. They all have one or more major flaws of bad roster, bad coaching or bad injury lucky. Raiders have a better roster so I went with them. Same with Browns, I think they have a better roster but the Watson mess and suspension was too much of a distraction for them to overcome.

Steelers/Commanders

@LeanMeanGM... I'd say, the AFC is actually the better conference.  BUT... only have to take 1 game from them to win it all.   Last year, the best two AFC teams slugged it out and beat each other up... and the Bengals were the beneficiary.  They went to the SB and faced the Rams.  I don't think the Rams beat either KC or Buffalo.

The fact that this was a question when they, you know, hired them both shows how toxic this discourse has gotten.

I missed it.  But agree.

this is what I wrote.

DeVonta Smith finished with 95 catches for 1,196 yards as the 2nd WR.  It really took them a while to figure out how to use him.  They really tried to use him too much like a possession WR for the first half of the season.  There was that weird obsession with trying to make him a behind the LOS screen WR.  He had the huge game against Washington where he went off for 8 catches for 169 yards.  That game sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of his first 9 games.

During the first half of the season, he had games of:

Game 1- 0 for 0

Game 4- 3 for 17

Game 5- 10 for 87

Game 6- 5 for 44

Game 7- 5 for 23

Game 8- 2 for 22

Game 9- 6 for 39

First 9 games: 46 catches for 481 yards for 10.4 YPC.   If you take away the Washington game, his average drops down to 8 YPC.  I know you can't but again, looking at usage the first half, that game wasn't consistent.

Last 8 games: 49 catches 715 for 14.5 YPC.  Averages out to 6 for 90 per game.

If they continue to use DeVonta Smith like the 2nd half of the season, he should shatter Eagles record books. His 2nd half of the year averaged out for an entire season is 102 catches for 1,530 yards.

DeVonta Smith is just a baller and I can't wait to see him grow and continue to figure out the NFL game and become one of the top WR in the game, if he isn't already.

Agree with all, but Id say hes actually pretty good on the WR screens.

I dont want him getting too many because I want him in space down field, but maybe 1 a game is fine with me.

Stacked RB class. Likely got a nice NIL deal.

Still feels like a bad decision.

Torn meniscus and sprained MCL may have had a bearing on his decision.

Not Raiders either.  They are in his bottom 7.  But your point is correct in principle.  Which is why I edited the OP to Patriots and added the Oops.

Texans are casting a wide net. Steichen, Gannon, DeMeco Ryans, Ben Johnson....

Now watch them just hire Josh McCown

Due diligence, fait accomplii...

Players I’m watching in tonight’s game

TCU QB

TCU WRs

Derius Davis, TCU: Derius Davis is a big play machine that could strike at any moment for the Horned Frogs. He is a former track star that excels on both special teams and at extending the defense vertically down the field. He has had a quiet season (just 430 yards and five touchdowns receiving) but don't count him out for a big play tonight

Quentin Johnston, TCU: The most talented skill position player on either side may belong to the Horned Frogs in this match up. Johnston is in the middle of a special season, as he has 1,066 yards receiving (18.1 YPC) and six touchdowns on the year. In the semifinal game against Michigan, Johnston hauled in six catches for 163 yards in the TCU win

TCU PR

TCU OG

Steve Avila, TCU: Avila is a behemoth of a player on the interior that boasts some impressive athleticism as well. He has experience across the interior of the OL and he has improved quite a bit each and every year

Lots of Georgia players
