I still think Stetson Bennett would be a terrific backup QB if he's available in the later rounds.

Some expect him to go undrafted. Either way, don't think the Eagles will leave that position next season up to a rookie. I'd expect Jacoby Brissett to be the guy next season.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Lol

After the success of Brock Purdy, Stetson Bennett might go earlier than we think.

If Georgia goes up 31-7 here, I'm turning the game off.

Savage clapped

Crazy how open guys get

It was fun watching TCU knock off Michigan, but Michigan would have made this a game.

Eagles are gonna have a ton of money tied up into keeping their own, are going to extend Hurts. Aren't going to be able to spend a ton of money on backup QB. I expect it to be a guy like Brissett or Mariota. Either a guy familiar with Sirianni and who comes to a winning team on a bit of a discount. Or a guy coming off a bad season who wants to rebuild their value in a good offensive system.

Honestly, could do worse than either as a backup.

What makes you think that? When it was the Carson Wentz show and he was more injury prone than Hurts, the Eagles drafted Hurts and had him as the main backup as a rookie.  I see no issue with a rookie backup.

Plus, late round or UDFA contract compared to what Brissett would cost (around $5 million) is huge when looking at the other needs on the roster.

Hurts as a second round pick, even a raw one, is completely different than a sixth-round pick or whatever like Bennett. The Eagles will invest in a good one.

Bowers would be a top 15 pick if he was eligible to come out this year. Guy is a monster.

Plus, as good as he is, he is under 6 feet tall.  That is an uphill battle.

Because I think Hurts was drafted as both a backup and a hedge on Wentz. And Hurts was a 2nd rounder. The Eagles obviously are not going to be spending a pick that high on a backup this draft. Not sure the Eagles are going to be comfortable going into the season with a 5th round rookie if Hurts goes down. Sure, that rookie could be the next Hurts or Purdy. Could also be the next Clayton Thorson. At least with a veteran you'll have some stability in an emergency situation.

The Parcells profile.  Lots and lots of starts.

Definitely not a member of the first-off-the-bus team. Looks like he’s ready to give you some advice on penny stocks.

I'll disagree.  Hurts was far from a sure thing QB prospect in the 2nd round.  I think he was a big risk and a flawed prospect.  He's since proved us all wrong.

They’ll either invest a good amount into a FA backup or draft one higher than we think in the third or fourth round. Backup QB is a very important piece for this team moving forward. That’s back to back seasons Hurts has gotten hurt and if he wants to continue with this style, they’ll need a good contributor as a backup for next season moving forward. I think it should be a bigger priority than most people in the offseason. I wouldn’t be mad if they took one in the third round.

Of course he was, but that wasn’t the point. The investment and belief the Eagles had in Hurts as a second-round pick is not the same as drafting Bennett in round 6.

I get your point, just agree to disagree.  I think the money saved from going with a rookie is more valuable to fill holes or bring back guys on defense.

Beast

Stetson Bennett is making the Josh Allen leap.

Sadly, I think this is the way of NCAA football with the NILs.  Mega teams that completely outmatch the rest.

Everyone makes this about Bennett, who was a walk-on, and its a nice story.  But he is surrounded by all 4 and 5 star recruits... lining up against not a single 1 for TCU.  Best they can tout are 3 stars.

The clock has struck midnight on TCU, and the coach has turned back into a pumpkin.   It's a shame that this is how their season ends.  What they did was remarkable this season, but this is how it will be remembered... rather than their great run to get here.
