I’m betting we see Commander Carr next season

Carr in DC would help Slay get out of his slump and catch a few more INTs.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I still hate Villanova and always will.

My Big 5 fandom is a bit complicated but in the end I am a Nova fan first these days.  I'm from the western suburbs and my mom liked them plus i was in ACC territory when the Big East hit and it was a big deal down there in the early 80s as those two conferences battled.  I had to go for the Philly entry in the Big East.

However, when I was in elementary school we lived in Kennett Square and my dad was the high school guidance counselor. He worked with Bobby Morse and I remember watching him in high school a couple of times.. I loved the Quakers back in that period, especially the 70-71 team (don't bring up that terrible final game and I won't either). Still like them. Went to the Palestra many times. Played there once. Love that place.

Just like you, I grew up watching those double headers on tv and went to several as well.  Those were great times.  Was it channel 29?  Or 17 or 48?  Can't recall.

Yup. Also i think bears would prefer to move back to two with the Texans. I think Texans and colts being in same division and if they are after same franchise Qb could be a pricey bidding war.

Wouldn’t be shocked if the bears moved to 2 and fielded calls again if someone wants to move up for stroud. Again would depend on that package on what they do.

They would be fools not to.

They didn't win their conference Championship though.

Alabama wasn't even in their conference championship game.  So, the argument to put Alabama there over TCU is a really weak one.  Of course, Alabama got that kind of pass in the past as well, so their faithful are used to special treatment like that.

Grew up watching Big 5 basketball when it was great. Almost every night of the week there was a game on TV with Al Meltzer doing the play-by-play. Picked a favorite team and became a hardcore fan. That favorite team wasn't Villanova. I've hated them since the age of eight. To me,, their winning the national championship was like the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl.

Yup...I am still bitter over Villanova beating Penn 91-47 in the 1971 NCAA Tourney....lol

All sports and levels of sport have uneven divisions/conferences, which don't always result in the 2 best teams meeting in the finals.

College football was literally the one exception to this, as there was a vote to put the 2 best teams in the championship game.  And we complained that it wasn't fair to have a vote decide it.  Earn it on the field in a playoff.  Granted, the format for seeding and getting into the playoff is what created the Georgia/TCU matchup.  But it's boring to just have a pair of SEC teams play eachother multiple times per year and in the championship.

They were talking this morning on the radio that Ohio is still having some issues with the NIL so Marvin Harrison Jr. might jump ship.  Come on PSU i know you guys all love them.   That said he probably goes to USC if he does indeed leave.

Show me what week only had 13 games. Get real dude. show me a real, regular season week

you do realize during the middle of the season there are teams on BYE weeks, meaning, we dont play a full 16 game schedule those weeks????

Yes, I know how the NFL schedule works

I asked him to get me a college regular season week (not pro).

He was clearly giving you the pros-

because he asked if you were upset when the Eagles blow out teams,

you responded: No but you are overlooking the fact that most games are one score games (in the NFL) he was showing you that was not the case during those two weeks...

then you responded about 13 games?

he and I assumed you were still talking about the NFL- since you referenced you thought most were one score games... which just is not the case in College.. not even close, so we all assumed you were rebutting his NFL case.

Nope, I've asked him 4 times to give me a random weekend and we'll go over the college scores.

So you missed the fact that he was clearly giving you the pros. He even stated this was the week we beat the giants...

so you missed that?

Because you again responded 13 games?

I'd argue that Jones was fantastic given the cast around him.  He's got competent coaching now, which is something he needed coming out of school.  As good of a QB coach as Cutliffe was, he still needed a lot of polish when drafted.  He's basically Eli 2.0 right now.  I think it took Eli 7 years in the league to have an 'elite' season and many think he's a first ballot HOF'r.

I think they have to keep him but I don't think he's done enough to warrant a big deal.

So if I ask i ask you for a beer  4 times and you hand me sand the conversation is over?

The conversation was about College. I asked him 4 times about a college week, I dont care about a cherry picked NFL week, were talking about...wait for it...COLLEGE

Dude it's your response to his obvious post about the pros thats the problem, knowing he gave you the pros, to communicate clearly- you should have said, something like, thats the pros, lets get back to college.

you didn't, you stated 13 games give me a break- clearly you missed he was still talking about the pros.

Not a big deal- done here. Just saying

One thing I am concerned about going into the playoffs was how easily the Giants second team got pressure on Hurts with the blitzes.

  • Like the blocking schemes were not picking it up?
  • And Hurts was protecting himself and unable to really make them pay for it.

The next team we face will copy that formula- (unless they are arrogant stubborn coaches who believe stick with what THEY want to do instead of doing what would be best) I would expect more blitziing than we have seen all season.

Your still going with this...kewl.

I dont know why it's so hard for you just to admit- yes I thought he gave me College, because I didn't look at it close enough or read it close enough?

Why is that so hard for you?

Aside from the false start issues, a few bad snaps and the illegal man downfield penalty - he's been nearly invisible in the good way.  I guess there have been a few protection calls that are questionable, but assigning blame for that stuff is difficult.  We seem to be OK there.

And then Georgia obliterates any combination of the other 3, leaving us right back where we started: Complaining about a blowout in a title game.

The NFL needs to change the illegal man downfield rule. Maybe give them an extra yard or use discretion if the lineman is 30 yards away from the play like Dickerson was last week.

I'd rather go with discretion than change the rule - the ramifications of linemen legally blocking DOWNfield could be exploited... I imagine RPOs would be even more effective, you could start picking off LBs so that they can't get to their coverage assignments.  Dangerous to balance...

In any case, Kelce was waaay downfield on that penalty - a definite gaffe for a veteran player.
