The fact that they only changed it for the playoffs makes no sense. You either believe it improves the game and makes it fairer or you don't. The fact they made it just for the playoffs is a half measure. The NFL is always doing half measures and takes them ages to correct basic mistakes and dumb rules like fumbling over the goal line gives the other team the ball.

Where are you seeing that? Pretty sure it was also in place for the regular season.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Siri doesn’t give health updates for a broken hang nail all year but now is happy to share how sore Jalen? Something smells weird. I’m going to bet he is healthier than leading on.

Sirianni is always fluffing up Hurts. That's my read on it. It would be pretty dump to not having him throw at practice just to fool teams about his health status.

Nope. A TD in the regular season on the first possession ended the game.

Weird, could've sworn there was a game this year where that happened and the other team got the ball with a chance to answer. Trying to remember the teams, one of the comeback wins for the bucs maybe?

Exactly although I do like soccer during the world cup.

But yeah, ties are stupid.

If the other team kicked a FG the game would resume with the other team getting a chance to answer. But a TD sealed it.

The NFL is paranoid of concussions, they don't want any games to be extended. It's why they shortened overtime and probably why they don't want teams to get extra possessions in OT in the regular season.

Right, that was the rule from the past few years, but thought it was a TD the bucs scored and the other team had a chance to answer and failed on 4th down so the bucs (or whatever team it was) won.

I've seen that mentioned by plenty of folks who weren't anywhere near the stadium.  There hasn't been any formal cause released either by the Bills, U of C hospital or Hamlin.  Lots of speculation but still nothing concrete.  Just seems like an important part to share to help in the future and to give some closure to all those who watched it live.

I’m not a huge soccer fan but this past World Cup finals was one of the best sporting events I have ever seen.

They could use something similar to ncaa OT rules.

The OT wouldn't take as long and both teams get equal possessions.

Yeah the rules indeed say it's only for playoffs. Not sure what game I'm thinking of, must've been a real good edible I had that night.

The current rules give both teams the opportunity to possess the ball at least once in overtime. Although, during the regular season, if the team that gets the ball first scores a touchdown on the opening possession, they win.

The not throwing could be precautionary to get more rest since we have a bye.

I looked at all the OT games, didn't happen. There was a Bucs OT game that they traded punts before losing to a TD from the Browns, maybe what your thinking of. The Week 11 OT game between Broncos and Raiders ended after the Raiders scored a TD on three plays, Broncos never touched the ball.

It wasn't.  It was a playoff change.

I think this is the answer.

We know he can throw, he’s done it effectively in games and practice since the injury.

But, if getting a few extra days of rest helps get him closer to 100%, then it’s a no brainer with the bye.

He will throw next week on a normal practice schedule and be ready to roll. The next game is 5 weeks since the sprain.

I’m officially worried.

It’s a good thing there’s a bye week,” Hurts said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hurts wouldn’t deny the chance that he could still be less than 100% healthy for the Eagles’ first playoff game next Saturday or Sunday, adding: "But I’ve played injured before.”

I can almost guarantee the injuries worse than what they’re putting out

I don't buy that personally. I get not having him air it out downfield but he wasn't even doing simple warm ups.

If he was fine he would be throwing. If its precautionary then he's not fully healthy.

You're not alone. I thought that used to be a regular season rule years ago that was changed

If Steichen gets a job this off-season, it feels like it might be Carolina. I think he definitely could get a job, but I don’t think it’s a lock. It doesn’t feel like the Texans are gonna be a the spot for him. Seems they’re focused on Gannon, Demeco, Payton. Denver seems locked in on Harbaugh and Payton. I doubt he’d go to the Colts after the whole Frank Reich, Sirianni angle with Irsay.

Maybe Cardinals, but the buzz hasn’t been as strong there. IMO if the panthers hire someone other than Steichen I think he very well could return for another season. We’ll see.

No, was two NFC teams I thought. Might've been a FG (instead of a TD) and then a turnover on downs by the other team.

Kinda chicken and egg i suppose

is it just not in our gameplan or is it ineffective and thus been removed?

i think we started using the te screen as a substitute. With this oL and the blitzes we get the screen game should be a staple

Part of it may be that Sanders hasn't been great.

I'm surprised Chiefs OC hasn't been hired yet

Must've been this game...

Not two NFC teams, but the reddish color jersey was close! Was indeed an opening possession FG that the other team failed to answer for. Also was a night game, so the edible theory is gaining traction.

I'm not at all. His ship sailed years ago.
