Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Guys, I'll be heading to Cancun Saturday morning and well be back in Pittsburgh next Saturday evening around 6ish. Any chance I miss our playoff game?

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! Will you please take this opportunity to photoshop greend in all of his hunting gear and gun at a college wet t-shirt contest on the beach in Cancun?  Thanks!

The great part about this clip is Belichick is such a robot it's hard to tell if he's just trolling the reporter for asking the question, saying to himself 'this call is 10 more minutes so I'm gonna use all of it on this question', or if he has been waiting for a question like this all season and it gets his brain racing ....

The part about punting/place kicking is really interesting to me because I played mostly slot WR and punter and did both quite well, but I was never any good at FG kicking or kickoffs.  In those days (early 80s) there were players who did both punting and FG kicking -- normally guys were better at one than the other.

I totally expected him to walk away from the podium at the end as he figured out a way to run out the clock on the reporters.  Obviously, the question had very little to do with a NFL team that week - so fair game.

Yeah, we had the K/P in the 90s.  Slot receiver in the 80s, wow, Air Coryell!

Maybe reporters ought to ask more questions like that. There are some great pieces out on YouTube where coaches are asked about depth aspects of defenses and offenses, including Belichek, where they go into depth and the public learns more about the game.  As opposed to irritating and repetitive questions.

Yet they extended the season.

They are only so worried about concussions.   If there's a buck to be made... they will take the risk.  The ending of an OT game in the regular season likely costs them money.  Free football.

In Canada we always had 12 players on the field, so that's where the additional player lined up on offense.  Always 5 DBs on defense.

I know, my point is that is gamesmanship. Being tight lipped and revealing little as possible to not show your cards serves a purpose. Doing the opposite of that serves no gamesmanship purpose.

This isn't me putting a negative spin on it, I just can't think of a better way to describe it, Nick's just stroking Hurts ego.

Unless... this is reverse psychology and Hurts is 100% fine and they are just playing it up.   Who knows?!  It just doesn't track.

I just don’t think it’s in their nature to be truthful about his status in a public setting or an interview. I agree that it doesn’t tilt the edge in their favor if they’re actually lying about it, but it’s more of me thinking "Why all of the sudden are they being forthcoming with this information now when Sirianni and everyone else gave nothing when he was recovering?” It just doesn’t add up with the tendencies they have shown so far.

The only two things I can think of is:

1. Hurts lights it up and they can go with the narrative of "Look how tough he is, he played amazing and he’s not even 100%”.

2. Hurts is using it as a built in excuse in case if he doesn’t play well.

I’m officially worried.

It’s a good thing there’s a bye week,” Hurts said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hurts wouldn’t deny the chance that he could still be less than 100% healthy for the Eagles’ first playoff game next Saturday or Sunday, adding: "But I’ve played injured before.”

I can almost guarantee the injuries worse than what they’re putting out

Why? He's a QB with a shoulder injury in his throwing arm. It's painful and will probably continue to be. That doesn't mean it's worse. He also played with it and pissed it off so I'd imagine some inflation/pain would be normal.

I don't see it as the sky is falling if he doesn't throw this week. Let it rest. That's what a BYE week is for.

It's not sky is falling but it's certainly not ideal. I'd want him to work on his timing to get back on track for the playoff game.

Agreed.  The windows to throw into get a little tighter in the playoffs.

The huge neutral zone is also jarring.

Yeah, and he will. He looked alright at the start of the game with his timing. Ideal would have been GM beating the freaking Saints with AD as the QB so he could have fully rested it.

But then it goes back to if he's perfectly fine there's no reason he should be standing around at practice.

And if you have to play games in regards to your QB's injury just to throw off your playoff opponent, it does not really show a lot of confidence.

Thats a wayyyyyyy better team than the one Hurts struggled mightily against this past Sunday

What bothers me is it still hurts him this badly and it's been how many weeks now?
