Honestly I think we were so far ahead of the pack that the team slowed up a bit. They were probably just ready for the playoffs to start. We’ll be fine.

Goedert basically said this in his post game presser. That they’ve been waiting for the playoffs to start for a month now. I hate the mindset because I don’t think it’s that easy to flip the switch back, but we’ll see.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Eh I think I also trust Hurts throwing to 3 studs more than Sanders picking up consistent yardage on the ground. But I'm more down on Sanders than most.

Sanders finished 5th in rushing.  Of those 5 backs, he was tied for 2nd ( Jacobs ) in yards per carry, a 1/2 yard better than Henry and Barkley, and .2 behind Nick Chubb.

I trust the OL to open holes.  They are supposed to be elite.

They didn't really try to run the ball without Hurts.  It was embarrassing.

Something that's not really talked about is are they downplaying the injury to Sanders? Not an excuse to not give it to Scott or Gainwell, but something to monitor come playoff time.

All these recent tweets and takes are interesting but I still hold out that "We are Fine There"...Haha Thanks Andy...

Siri buying time, close to the vest, he's learned not to give it away. Limit the Media.

Guys are resting, healing, taking advantage of the Bye we EARNED.

Hurts, Sanders, anybody allowed to put on a jock, hell, even Lane will suit up for the Game at the Linc, whoever gets that Loser Slot.

They know how to Win, using the off week and biding their time.

Sky's not falling, gonna be beautiful out there..

They got a combined 3 carries in the Saints game, even counting the carry for Gainwell that was called back for a fake holding penalty.

Every DeVonta catch from the year.  There was a 16 minute version with the full plays.

I counted at least 10 passes that went for no gains or losses.  He was better on screens than I thought but man, that Cardinals game they just kept going to it when it wasn't working.  On top of it, he gets hit harder than Covey on the majority of his screen plays.  Not ideal.  Just pointing out those plays that were in the 1st half of the season.

He's special.  Quite a few plays where he was just a HARE too slow and the defender was able to swipe his ankle, otherwise he would have been gone.  Can't wait to see him improve off of this season.

That part of the attack was a problem. Gotta do better there...Regardless of who's under center...

A playoff bye week is not a week off in the sense a regular season bye week is. Players aren't going away on vacation, they have two days off on Saturday and Sunday, the rest is work as usual.

I keep seeing it referenced that the players shouldn't be practicing this week. That is not the case.

I keep going back to the 2020 Alabama team and what DeVonta did in their big games. Caught 3 TDs against Notre Dame and then was on an absolute heater in the first half against Ohio State in the title game going for 200+ and 3 TDs in the first half before getting hurt. He seems to rise to the occasion in big moments so I’m hoping we see that in the playoffs.

I'd dare you to find someone on the forum harder on Hurts than I've been. I don't make excuses for him. It was vanilla and he isn't a pocket QB when healthy. To make things worse once the Giants saw he wasn't going to run they played differently.

And this is exactly why I would hesitate on that $200 million contract. If he has to run in order to be good, then we're always going to be in trouble with his injuries late in the season like we are right now. He needs to improve as a passing QB and transition his game. No more MVP talk because he runs a lot and gets goal line rushing TDs. I want to see MVP talk because of how many passing TDs hes throwing. He needs to take that next step before I would pay him. We would be smart to go the route of the Ravens and wait to pay Jalen. Make him prove he can change his game yet again. Hes already taken 1 major step but he needs to take another.

Agreed.

Lamar and Cam had 36 ( 43 total ) and 35 ( 45 total ) passing TD's when they won MVP.

Hurts had 35 combined TD's this year.

I’m not sure where this narrative that Hurts can’t excel from the pocket comes from. I’ve had my criticisms with him, but go watch the Minnesota, Washington, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and first Giants game as an example. He can be and has shown to be an efficient pocket passer given solid protection.

It's hard to discern the O philosophy from the aerial view. Changes per Oppenent of course, but..

Throw hard early, get the splash plays, score points then sit on em...?

Drive with the O Line and the ground game, hit em when they crowd the box, turn Dez, Ques and AJ loose?

Joe Dirt is back, Pascal etc tear up the middle?

I guess the Gameplan will be developed when we find out who our opponent will be but, so many choices, why we've been built this way, need something concise and applicable to the present adversary. We have all the tools at our disposal.

Hope Stiechen will get getting dialed in and not suffering Jet Lag...

In fairness, the Ravens have tried a few times to back the money truck up to Jackson's door -- he's just been too dumb to accept a market deal and wants a fully guaranteed one.

I think if the Eagles make the Super Bowl Howie will try to extend Hurts long term.  If he's physically limited and the Eagles lose early I could see them having Hurts play out his 4th year.

I know we had a lot of back and forth this week regarding Jordan Davis and being patient and what our expectations should be, however, by all accounts, Tyler Linderbaum is the real deal and is going to be the anchor of the Ravens line for the next decade.  He was taken at pick 25.

Would how would things look if the Eagles traded down and taken Linderbaum, acquiring who knows what...another 2023 1st/2nd, while keeping their 4th and 2 5th round picks.  The Patriots got a 3rd and 4th to move up from 29 to 21.  The Ravens picked up a 4th going from 23 to 25.  Had the Eagles been able to trade down from 15 to the 20s

Drafting Linderbaum would have also opened up the Eagles 2nd round pick to be used on someone other than Cam Jurgens (who I love and think is going to be great).

Linderbaum + 7 2022 draft picks + whatever haul they would have gotten by trading down....or Davis + 4 other picks.  My biggest argument with Davis is using the amount of draft capital they did to get him for a player who might never play more than 50% of the snaps.  Trading down and getting more draft capital for a guy who plays every snap on offense IMO, is better value.

Just having fun looking back at scenarios as we wait for the Eagles to play.

Would you pay this man $50M per season?

I wouldn't pay ANY player that type of money. It cripple's a team in the long term. There is no player in the NFL I would pay that salary to.

This isnt the same Jalen Hurts that played vs those teams you mentioned. This is the first time an opposing defense didnt have to worry about Jalen running because they knew going into the game he wasnt going to run much and he for sure wasnt trying to get hit. The Giants brought the blitz time after time and Jalen didnt know how to handle it without his ability to run like he normally does. He needs to become a better pocket passer regardless, but especially because hes constantly going to be hurt late in the season if he keeps running so much.

We don't disagree.

There is a 100% chance the Eagles are going to pay Hurts, not a 99% but a 100%.

Might get paid via franchise tag, but depending on how he plays in these playoffs, it might not be a long term contract.

I would think the percentage of him getting an extension this off-season, depends on how far the Eagles go through the playoffs, with that percentage, obviously growing for each playoff win.

Yeah I don't know what the "gotcha" is here. If it's blocked for 5, Sanders picks up 10+ with the best of them. If it's blocked for 1, he has a hard time getting 3-4. I prefer the second guy in the playoffs.

I feel EVERYONE is watching this closely. The whole Franchise will turn on this upcoming decision..

If the guy balls out, it's just a question of terms. They'll want to keep him.

If the O fails by way of poor playcalling or gameplan, the question becomes much more muddled. No one questions his heart.

Can the skillset prevail?

Good times on the Horizon. Eagles Football.

The pieces are in place, do we have our QB? I'm sayin Yes.
