It's hard to discern the O philosophy from the aerial view. Changes per Oppenent of course, but..

Throw hard early, get the splash plays, score points then sit on em...?

Drive with the O Line and the ground game, hit em when they crowd the box, turn Dez, Ques and AJ loose?

Joe Dirt is back, Pascal etc tear up the middle?

I guess the Gameplan will be developed when we find out who our opponent will be but, so many choices, why we've been built this way, need something concise and applicable to the present adversary. We have all the tools at our disposal.

Hope Stiechen will get getting dialed in and not suffering Jet Lag...

Speaking of Jet Lag, there's a great series on Youtube with that name.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Justin Herbert hasn’t proven crap yet in the playoffs, would you pay him?

Not until I had to honestly. Would I still take him over Hurts? Yes, but the savings with these guys doesn't justify the risk IMO. Leave Hurts on his rookie deal until this time next year. Will they possibly have to pay him 52 or 53 million vs maybe 47 now? Yeah, but that's fine. I want to see this time next year if the progression has continued and are there any lingering injury issues/new injuries that happen over the course of a hard schedule next year.

Not a fan but this is a distraction

The Eagles allowed the fewest yards per play of any team in the league, so let's all rejoice if our defensive coordinator leaves. Makes sense.

Team full of talented vets on defense.

Record breaking sack season.

Gannon is replaceable.

Not sure if this has been said elsewhere, but heard on a podcast today that Siposs was walking around the locker room without the boot on his foot and he said he was originally diagnosed with a torn deltoid and high ankle sprain, but a second opinion recently told him it wasn't as bad as they originally thought and he said he thinks he could play in the divisional round.

Also, Maddox had the boot on his foot removed as well.

Tbh the eagles defense is going to take a step back next year. whether Gannon is here or not. They have a ton of free agents and they’re not gonna sign all of them. I hope they bring back at least three of them. Like hargrave, Graham, CJGJ and maybe Edwards. Bradbury is highly likely gone. Might lose Epps. Kind of think white or Edwards walks. Cox, suh and Joseph are all likely gone. you are going to have a lot of young players stepping into bigger role and youth in your depth. might take a little bit of the season until they are able to hit their stride and figure out their new elevated roles. Keeping Gannon will keep continuity but with or without Gannon I’m guessing there’s a drop off. I actually agree with solak and sheil on this aspect.

Rumor floating they've offered Bradberry 18 mil/yr

If he declines, hoping they focus on bringing back Hargrave and CJGJ.

Draft will be heavy defense

Turnover will lead to regression

But I don't think Gannon is some defensive savant that can't be matched or replaced

Yep. We don’t have enough resources or cap space to do 1 for 1 replacements for many of our defensive FAs. We are almost assuredly going to take a step back defensively next season.

Sorry less rumor more speculation

Saw it on a website talking about key impending FA in 2023

Honestly I hope they get a chance to re-sign him. Slay can't have more than 1-2 serviceable years left.

Draft CB high this year. Maybe S too

If they offered Bradberry that and he turned it down then he’s definitely not coming back. Frankly, maybe he does get more on the open market but there’s a chance teams look at him as he’s on the wrong side of 30 and how much of it was the fact the Eagles had a really stacked defense where he got to be the number 2 corner instead of the number one corner.

id love to bring back CJGJ. I’m for moving Blankenship over to the other safety position and letting Epps walk cause i do think someone would give him more than what the eagles are willing to pay and i think Blankenship and CJGJ would be a fine tandem. Just need depth.

this is nothing against Gannon. However, I think for his defense to be as good as it is he needs to have all those players we have to have to sustain the success. One of the things I givr Jim Schwartz a lot of credit for was in 2018 and 2019 when we had all those injuries happening, the defense could’ve imploded and just been terrible for the rest of the year. But as the season went on the defense began making improvements and getting better. It wasn’t great but they were at least capable. He did it with guys you didn’t expect like a Leblanc. Even the Super Bowl year they had a rookie Douglas out there for half the year because Darby got hurt.

Not saying I want Gannon to leave. I’d prefer keeping the coaching staff intact. However, I’m guessing if Gannon takes a head coaching job that Fangio is a highly likely guy to take over the defense. Which I would be very comfortable and confident in his ability to get the most out of our young guys and the veterans that we still have here.

Well said. I'd still be confident in the defense sans Gannon.

Enjoyed this one. Makes you realise what a good blocker he is.

Seems like such a good group of guys!

Seems the NFL will play the AFC CG in ATLANTA if it comes down to KC and Buffalo.   .  WHY?!   Detroit is completely available, and much shorter flight for both teams... close enough that a few faithful from both teams could actually show up and give it some atmosphere.   Meanwhile, Atlanta is not a tourist destination for late January.

I thought it was said here yesterday that the turf was currently being replaced at Ford field.

Is this the 1st year to have a Monday playoff game? Travesty.

I might have missed that part.

And no, last year they had the MNF playoff game as well.  That is the 'penalty' or 'benefit' of 7 playoff teams.  You get an extra game in each conference... so they expand the window and throw the game into 'primetime', rather than Saturday at noon.  The old system was Sat late afternoon, Sat night.  Sunday at 1, Sunday at 4:25.  Now, they get two primetime games out of it on Sunday and Monday night... which is their ultimate plan.

I like the extra playoff team per conference and extra games in the playoffs more than Week 17 of the NFL.  At least with the extra playoff team, people are happy their team is playing, the team is happy they are playing (well, one of them is... the 2 seed isn't overjoyed, but its better than not qualifying) and they get two primetime games worth watching.   Much better money move than adding Week 17 or the travesty that is TNF.   Its all about player safety... until there's a buck within easy reach, then they grab the buck.

Atlanta being a dome probably played into it as well. The NFL would love another 42-36 shootout like last year I’m sure.

As a fan, I think most of us would prefer the game be played in the elements as both teams stadiums are situated. And they had no issues last year being outdoors and piling up points

Decent article for the analytical minded on timeouts. A blurb about our team:

The Eagles, who finished tied for the league’s best record, did the best job of preserving their timeouts for end-of-half situations, rarely calling them outside of the last four minutes, losing just two challenges, and taking a pair of delay-of-game penalties.

Of course.   That part was pre-determined when they decided to move to a neutral site... same as the Super Bowl.  It has to be 99.9% chance of perfect weather.

This was an issue for at least part of the year last season, which is to be expected given the new system being brought in and the newness of the coaches.  They cleaned that up a lot this year.

In terms of extra playoff game - small sample size, but uncompetitive. Reduces the SB chances of the 2 seed due lack of rest and injury risk. The MNF game guarantees that more teams are playing on short rest… that’s just great for quality of play (and player safety).

Agreed on the week 17, mostly a collection of teams tanking, semi tanking, scoreboard watching or trying not to get hurt ahead of the playoffs. The better $ grab in my opinion would’ve been a 16 game season with 2 byes - as that generates another week of televised games and actually has something to do with player safety.

Can’t wait for 18 games/8 teams making the playoffs per conference.

Do you ever go to music concerts or movies?  They all fit your loathing profile.

Last concert I went to was 23 years ago. I don't like them either. I am happy with Spotify.

I usually go to movies a week or so after a blockbuster has been released or will go to the first showing on a Tuesday when there is barely anyone there.

Probably has something to do with why Sirianni gave up play calling so he can concentrate on the situational aspect of the game.
