Older Eagles fans, thoughts on this? This logic seems way off to me. I always thought Cowboys have been our biggest rival for a really long time, and it used to be way worse back in the 80s/90s. I don’t think it’s a younger generation thing that hates Dallas more. Maybe NYG/Washington were bigger rivals back in the day, but I feel like that was a very long time ago.

Biggest rivals for the Eagles were the Giants before the Cowboys came into being.  The Cowboys took over as the 'big boy' of the division in the 1970s.  When Dick Vermeil was hired in the mid-70s, the Cowboys were the team to beat... and they had that air of superiority, that "America's Team" moniker and they were pushed down your thought constantly by the media and getting tons of nationally broadcast games, before you could pick and choose for yourself.  So, they easily became the most hated rival.  In the 1990s, they were just so unlikeable on so many levels, that carried forward.  The Cowboys of the early 1990s might have been the single most unlikeable team in the history of professional sports (and yes, that's likely tainted a bit by my bias).  They have become by and large a laughing stock to anyone who actually follows the NFL, but the national media continue to force feed them to you at every chance they get.  The Giants, by comparison, even with the NY bias are just never pushed on you like Dallas.

Is it a younger thing?  No.  It is a generational thing where the folks my age and a bit older likely have been beating it into their offspring that "Dallas Sucks" and other such sentiments.  The Giants meanwhile, despite winning not one, but two Super Bowls in the span between 1996 and today are less despicable to the younger generation, likely because their two wins came against the Evil Empire.   Early 2000s though, it was the Giants, not the Cowboys that stood in the way of the Eagles.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I’m watching this game and I can’t really tell how good the Chargers are. Lawrence has completely obliterated his team’s ability to compete.

Yeah I remember Giants being the biggest threat in the 2000s for us, but even then I didn’t hate them as much as Dallas. I can definitely say even in those two super bowls I rooted for them to win, something I’ll never do for Dallas unless it was against a team full of scummy people

Lawrence is soiling the bed

Jaguars D looks pathetic tonight too

Chargers real test comes next week

If nothing else, there’s a chance for the one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history.

Makes sense. Became an Eagles fan in the early 2000s and I’ll forever hate the Giants more than the Cowboys. Losing, what, ten in a row to them is still traumatic.

What a clown show by the Jags.

When it rains, tsunami...

Damn, sorry Doug. Thanks for beating Dallas though.

Jacksonville needs to trade for a reliable pass catcher in March to help out Lawrence, I wonder how much they’d have to give up for Asante Samuel Jr

This team is not ready for the bright lights...

Disappointed in Dougie.

Chargers going into arrowhead next week with a ton of confidence

I'm not wasting the good bourbon on this game.

Severely outcoached.

What an embarrassment.

If we’ve learned anything over the past few seasons is that 9-8 teams really don’t belong in the playoffs

Sadly without Mike Williams. I feel like against the jags can get away without him. He makes a big difference vs. chiefs. That said the chargers always give the chiefs issues but manage to get chargered out of a win late

Lawrence

4 completions to his team

4 completions to the opponent

We’re almost in Nathan Peterman territory with an entire half left to play

I hope the jags figure out how to run the rest of the time off the clock, they really don’t need to give the Chargers the ball back

Take away the meaningless week 18 game but the chargers defense has turned the corner over the last 9 games. Giving up 18.2 ppg in the last 9 (excluding week 18). In the last 4 prior to the meaningless week 18 game, 11ppg. Opponents weren’t good in those last 4 games but early in the season they couldn’t stop anyone

Flyers win. They’re at .500

I’m pretty sure rashawn slater has a chance to play next week for the chargers. He was practicing this week and said it’s up in the air if he goes if they won tonight.
