Not sure what direction Chargers go this off-season in terms of draft/free agency, but I like the idea of them taking Jalin Hyatt in 1st rd (WR from Tennessee) to pair with Herbert quite a bit. Those 2 plus Linsley/Johnson/Slater on the OL forms a great offensive core going forward

Need to start with getting payton. Then I’d probably try to fix their oline. They just can’t tun the ball. They need upgrades and to get slater back. Then I’d address the middle of their DL and LBs. they are bad against the run. Getting jc jackson is gonna help their secondary.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Yeah the coaching situation clouds things, and they probably lose that 1st to get Payton. Not sure they need to address OL too high, Linsley is a good starter & Slater looks like a top tier OL, Zion will be a quality player for them also. Williams is good but I feel like he’s injury prone, and Keenan Allen is approaching 10 seasons in the league. Would be smart to invest in some more youth at WR. Williams/Allen/Palmer/Hyatt gives Herbert an amazing WR unit

I think their other guard position is still an issue.  could use an upgrade at RT. I’m guessing they could fix it somewhere in free agency and also mid round of the draft. A big issue for the charges as well is they can’t stop the run. They are one of the worst run defenses in the league.

tbh I’d give up the pick to get Payton. I think he’s a huge difference maker for that team especially if he also brings fangio. If you get fangio then it’s basically Payton and fangio for a 1st. It would suck to lose that pick, but if it helps not waste Justin Herbert‘s career it is worth it In the long run

Oh yeah don’t get wrong, Payton would do so much more for Herbert than a fringe 1st rd WR. I’m just thinking of hypotheticals before we see what happens with Staley/Payton, but I definitely believe Chargers is best position available for Payton and I’m not sure there will be a better one for him. That’s likely where he goes

It is highly likely that is the best job that becomes available if they fire staley. However, I am not entirely sold that if the bills don’t make it to at least the AFC championship game that McDermott comes back. If they play the bengals in the divisional round and lose, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if they have a Tony Dungy to Gruden type of move. Because the difference between the bills getting over the hump might just be getting someone like Sean Payton. I would argue if the bills job did open up they are a better job than the chargers.

Nah gotta disagree big time there. No possible way they do that. Could destroy that entire culture, especially after how he handled the Hamlin situation. The risk just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the reward. Lose a first rounder + possibly destroy your locker room is recipe for disaster. They’re better off using that 1st to trade for Jalen Ramsey over Sean Payton IMO.

Taking the Hamlin situation out of it, people said the same thing with dungy in Tampa that it could ruin them with firing dungy and the culture he created. Remember they had done nothing up until he got there. and they went out and got gruden. He got them over the top. As good of a coach as Sean McDermott is, he isn’t Sean Payton especially with daboll gone and fangio is a pretty damn good DC if he tags along. Ramsey isn’t just about the pick. It’s a lot of money with Allen having the contract he does. I think Buffalo has all the talent to beat Kansas City and the Bengals. To me a coaching change and a new voice might get them over the top.

this would only happen if they lost in the divisional round again. At some point in time, can’t keep banging your head against the wall with the same coaching staff, and having the same result and thinking you’re just gonna add players and get over the hump. They’ve added players over the last couple years and they’d  still wouldn’t been able to get over it.

I just don’t see that being the case at all here. Maybe, and it is a very small maybe, if Buffalo loses tomorrow to Skylar Thompson I could see this being a bigger possibility.

But I think we’ll have to agree to disagree here. If it happens, you got every right to tag me with an I told you so

I don’t think it’s overly likely, but I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked if they would make that decision.

Let’s hypothetically say they go out and get Jalen Ramsey like you said. And then next year they get to the divisional round again and lose to Kansas City again. At that point you got to start looking at your coaching staff as the thing that’s holding you back from getting to where you want to go. And at that point might not be a Sean Payton out there. That’s why I think there’s a possibility could happen. Likely? Probably not. But I think there’s definitely a discussion that begins if they come up short in the divisional round cause might not have a coach like payton available if you decide to move on in a year

either way this is a moot point if the bills win the two home games they get in the WC and divisional round.

Doug turned a 3-14 team to Division champs and won a Playoff game in his 1st year after the disaster that was Urban Myer season.  He also had one of the biggest comebacks in playoff history after his QB threw 4 picks.   Wither they lose next week or not, he's done an amazing Job turning that team and organization around.  Doug now has 5 Playoff wins as a Coach with two different teams.    Vermil to Reid to Doug.   Eagles Coaches that lead us to the Super Bowl seemed to always have a strong 2nd Act after leaving.

I think it’d have to depend on how they lose. If you lose a close one like last year or year before, no it’s not worth making the change. It’s just playing into way too much speculation and guessing to make a major move like that, and I really think that could severely hurt the locker room. Yeah it happened before, but was a totally different era of football and a completely different team. Not sure if that flys now.

Are we so certain Payton takes them over the hump though? Saints had super talented teams over the past decade and reached the championship game once. McDermott got them to the championship game a couple years ago and barely lost that.

Someone live betting that much to win such little money is either rich enough that it doesn’t matter to them or, yeah, they just jumped off a bridge.

I've walked past people in Vegas with Vikas sized trays of chips and when I walked back from the pool they were all empty. Some people have disposable income we can't imagine.

That experiment the Eagles had with 12 personnel and the 5 yard passing offense regardless of down and distance…they needed a reset from that.

Doug is a great coach and was a great coach here..but he ran a full life cycle very quickly.  Rebuild, top of the mountain, bottom of the valley.

Siri is a Doug clone in many ways.

Doug is a good culture builder and great when playing with house money. But probably not the right guy for when you sit down to a chess match.

I don’t know that Sean Payton can get them over the hump. I also don’t know if McDermott is a good enough coach to get them over them over the top either if he loses to the bengals in the divisional round this year. But if they continue to get beat by the better teams in the Afc in the biggest playoff games then at some point you just keep on with status quo? again hypothetically if you lose to the Bengals in the divisional round this year and then you come back in 2023 with the same coaching staff and you lose to a chiefs or bengals team in biggest stage then what? Would then be 4 consecutive years where you faced the best in the conference and fell short. At some point adding to the roster isn’t enough. Maybe a new voice gets you where you need to go

you also keep looking at it could ruin their culture/locker room  if they did fire McDermott. The opposing view that they might have is it could get them to another level by having a new voice and an outsider that sees in a little differently which gives them that little extra to put them over the top.

I look at it this way, Josh Allen and the bills roster is good enough right now to win a SB. I don’t know what they’re gonna be in 3 years. To me their window has been open for now 3 years. In the nfl besides the chiefs with mahomes/reid and Brady with the patriots, it’s usually not open for much longer than 3-5 years. I also think that division (especially if the jets get an Qb and ditto with Miami) and conference is going to get tougher going forward (especially if Payton does go to chargers, Lawrence keeps developing with Doug). Allen gives them a chance to be good every year but eventually other teams will rise and build rosters that catch up to them (bengals have done that since getting burrow)

Also, in the AFC title game it wasn’t close. The Chiefs were up 38 to 15 at one point in the fourth quarter.

again this is all moot if the bills beat the bengals (and chiefs). I do think the questions and noise becomes louder if the bills at home lose to a bengals team in the divisional round. I’m not suggesting they need to fire McDermott. Or that it is happening. My point is I think you’re gonna start hearing it a lot more about is McDermott the guy if the bills don’t accomplish getting by cincy at home in the divisional round. Again don’t think it’s likely or a high percentage, but i also don’t think it’s absolutely impossible for bills to say we think Payton is a guy that gets us over the top if McDermott doesn’t this year.

Who the hell is designing the Flyers jerseys?  White and black with a tiny patch of orange on the sleeve.  Just horrible.

I understand they’re a bad team now, but bad uniforms are just kicking them while they’re down

Hey only 5 points out of a playoff spot and at .500 lol

I just saw they’re doing a reboot of Night Court with Bernadette from the Big Bang Theory as the judge.  Good God, even the trailer looks like a disaster.

They rooked John Laroquette into coming back as Dan Fielding.  I don’t think they understand what made Fielding funny — none of it would be politically correct nowadays.  I assume it will be a horribly watered down character.
