I’m sure nbc wasn’t thrilled that they got that game and that time slot

Why? Not as big of a partner with the NFL as Fox and CBS.  Got to throw those networks some prime time playoff games. Wouldn’t be surprised if that is in their contracts. NBC can play up the Doug v AR matchup.

And some of you watch this defense with your heads in the sand. Fear-mongering? We just watched Gannon’s zone defense get shredded by Andy Dalton. His philosophy is ***backwards for a team like this.

What gives people comfort about this defense? The stats? The points? Essentially items that don’t tell the full story of how poor of a coach he is?

Ya who cares if the defence doesn’t allow points! They don’t look good to some hoagie mouth and that’s all that matters!

Ridiculous. McD was not that good this year, I’m assuming King has him here for the Hamlin situation. But that’s ridiculous. King is a voter for the award

Wonderful job by Tomlin coaching his team to missing the playoffs.

The list should be (in order):

Shanahan, Sirianni, Carroll, Daboll, Pederson, O'Connell, Reid

I’m not a huge Gannon fan either, but it’s silly to argue the underlying metrics. The Eagles have a very good defense.

And the Saints didn’t score a single point on offense in the 2nd half and only scored 13 overall. Gannon adjusted after a terrible first half.

Oh please. I’ve watched enough football over the years to know a smoke and mirrors defense when I see it. This defensive scheme is garbage to a smart offensive coach with an accurate QB.

And the poor start against the Saints is the epitome of this defense: give up a ton of easy completions and yardage to average QBs while eating up the clock which screws over his offense that is explosive but needs to be in rhythm.

The stats look great but anyone who has confidence in the style and execution of this defense is deceiving themselves.

Got to win this game. I’m in the younger generation (29 years old) who hates the Giants more than the Cowboys.

I don't hate the Giants like I do the cowgirls. Since 01' were 33-13 against them

Still the worst matchup imo. Jags market isnt great. KC was up 27-10 first matchup and wasn’t all that competitive.  I’m guessing they were hoping for the prime time slot with bills/bengals. more reasons I’m sure they weren’t thrilled.

Looking ahead a bit- providing we beat the Giants- (which will be tougher than some think) and provided Dallas beats Tampa tonight-

who would you rather play the following week. San Fran or Dallas?

I don't have the same kind of hate, either.  The Giants two Super Bowl victories were both against the cheating Patriots; I had to cheer for them in both games.  I disliked the Giants intensely when Parcells was coaching them (because Parcells is an overrated a-hole), but not since then.

I don't really want to play San Fran. Bucs will beat the girls

For the not scared of the Giants / Cowboys bunch, I did want to point something out.

If the better teams win next weekend, it will be a 9ers / Eagles NFCCG.

But if the Cowboys win tonight, we are an unfortunate series of events away from a Giants / Cowboys NFCCG.

For anyone who wants to go with the don’t be scared routine, read sentence 2 again.

My fear and anxiety will not propel the Eagles to a win or loss.  It's all about whether my lucky underwear will work.

Last year was a vanilla year for the defense.  This year, they added Bradberry, CJGJ, and Reddick.  Bradberry and CJGJ may have been studs this year, but let's not forget that they weren't exactly hard to get.  We got more out of them here than elsewhere.  That even applies to Reddick, who had the best year of his career.  They also added White, but he's not even that good.

The defense had a lot of personnel turnover from last year, and the additions were all better here than they ever have been elsewhere.

Gannon has done a good job.

Matchups seem a lot easier to control on TV than they are in reality.  You're sometimes going to get caught with your pants down having your crappy slot CB covering a #1 WR on a crossing route from the slot.  It happens.  It doesn't mean the DC is an idiot.

The excess zone coverage at the end there was stupid, but I do think they were intentionally getting cute and vanilla.

Doesn't matter -- Eagles are a better team than both.  I would rather beat San Francisco because they've been getting pumped up for two months now.  Dallas is mostly irrelevant and we've beaten them already.

I know I'm late to the party- but to no ones surprise the Vikings were one and done in the playoffs.  They were the weakest 13-4 team I had ever seen, and Dallas might be the second weakest.

Dallas.

I fear momentum.  I actually think the gap between Dallas and SF is narrower than most.  Next year (depending on SF QB)...or 3 months ago...Dallas might be the tougher matchup and better team.

To me, SF is the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 MLB playoffs against that stacked Phillies rotation.  I'm not sure the team is all that great, but they are playing at their peak of peaks right now.  Everything clicking, every player at their best.

Stay away.

Unreal. I really don’t get it. This Eagles defense is probably the most talented Eagles defense I’ve seen in my lifetime. Does this defense actually PLAY like that to you?

The 2017 defense gave me way more confidence with noticeably less talent. I wonder why?

I'm expecting a close game against the Giants. Playoff football is just different. NYG are riding a wave of momentum while we sort have slept walked to the playoffs. I'm not particularly worried about Daniel Jones. He'll dink and dunk which will be annoying but I don't expect to see the same big plays we saw yesterday. Twink Martindale will blitz a lot and knock around Hurts as much as possible, and if we can pick it up and keep Hurts upright, they should pull it off.

F' the Giants - Phil Simms is trash.  Strahan cheated to get steal the sack record from Reggie White.  They have not been located in New York for almost 50 years. Lawrence Taylor is a rapist and should be removed from the HOF.  Daniel Jones played at Duke which is a trash school.

Outside of Qb I think their roster overall is top 5 in the nfl. I’d argue it’s closer to top 3 than 4 or 5. It’s really damn good.

SanFran. I'd be pissed if they beat the Eagles but watching the Cowboys go to the Super Bowl on our turf would be next level. Way worse than the Bucs winning the last game at the Vet, which I'm still not over.

They have definitely given Gannon something to think about with the Daniel Jones running yesterday.

Sure. But beating the Giants and the Cowboys on the way to the SB would be pretty awesome.
