Didn't they bring in Suh because Davis kept getting injured?

Might be time to move on from Cox

I think Cox, Joseph and suh are for sure gone. However they played a role in this defense. Have to replace them. Have Davis and Williams step up so some of that is covered. However still have graham, hargrave, CJGJ, Epps, Edwards, white and bradberry who’s played major roles in this defense this year.  That doesn’t include kelce who if he doesn’t retire is technically a FA and seumalo.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Yeah, the NFL's 5th leading rusher has bad vision :roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

I think Howie's gonna find a way to bring back Bradberry, CGJ, and Hargrave. Where I think he's gonna make up for it is letting Edwards and Sanders go. And possibly Epps.

The Eagles don't value LB and RB much, if they keep their most productive players, they have fewer pressing needs, which means trading down in the draft is easier to do and they can supplement whatever they lose with the extra picks.

That's going to be A LOT of money.  Out of those 3, CGJ is the priority.  I think Milton Williams coming on strong and the ability to find street FA in Suh and Joseph is going to lessen the need to bring Hargrave back.  He's going to command top dollar.  Not that I want Fletcher Cox back at his current deal, if he's willing to run it back on discount for 1 year, I'd entertain.  I really love how Bradberry has played but he's 30. His contract would have to be short term and reasonable.

White and TJ can leave.  I joked about it earlier in the year but don't be surprised if they still see Davion Taylor as a starting option.  He was starting and looked good last year, albeit a short time period.  Taylor and Dean could be a young, fast but undersized LB group in 2023.

I would say the one area where Sanders has improved the most is his vision.  The only way you average 5 yards per carry, over a career, is to have very good vision, imo.  (At the least).

Sanders yards after catch per reception:

19 - 8.4

20 - 7.4

21 - 8.7

22 - 4.9

He also only has 2 catches that resulted in a first down this year. As far as this season goes, he has absolutely been "useless” in the passing game

This is the first year as a RB( running the ball) that he's shown good vision.

His vision last year was atrocious and his vision this year after the catch has matched what we previously saw of his vision as a RB.

Being observationally  critical isn't hating, hating would be saying Sanders shouldn't be re signed because he totally sucks and is a poo poo head.

Sanders performed very poorly this year a receiver and the stats back up what the take showed

A guy like Mike says that showed poor vision after catching the ball.

Well he does, sorry to burst your bubble. His vision is piss poor.

Ya, I know right? Just imagine how good he'd be if he had good vision. He might even be top 5 in yards!

Wink Martindale has a stupid looking head - that's all

So he suddenly gained vision this year, after suddenly losing the ability to be useful as a receiver in his rookie year. Weird how the switches just keep flipping on and off for him like that.

I've tried to engage on this topic before - but many feel the cap is so fluid that Howie can manage nearly anything.  Unless free agent RBs are discounted even more than normal - I'd rather draft the position and save the $ for DT/CB/OL, you know the premium positions (even S, as I think CGJ or move impactful than Sanders).

You can always maneuver around it to sign a guy or two you really want to keep. However, the eagles still have a ton of starters who are FA on defense and some on offense. once Jalen hurts get that extension, it doesn’t get easier to maneuver. I am guessing if the Eagles really wanted to keep a guy they will manage to do it. However, you’re gonna lose some players that we like but they just don’t think are worth the value. This is where Miles Sanders comes in. We like Miles Sanders, but the value of a running back position and paying him what he’s likely going to get, might not be in their best interest.

hurts panning out helps by you can now use these picks we got from the saints and other deals to draft young guys to infuse into the team and build up the roster at a cheaper price. But he also now needs an extension and the price at Qb he’s gonna get paid. So even if howie can maneuver the cap, still want to be smart with whom you are paying and positional value.

I think he's had a really good year running the ball (e.g., vision, following blocks, running hard, few fumbles - hasn't gotten shutdown by injury, etc.).  Can he better in the pass game, yes probably - I think pass blocking is a bigger issue than hands/route running.  Given that we have Kenny G who seemed to have a slot skillset not really do much in the pass game - my sense is that the RBs aren't being schemed or Hurts defers the usual dump off/checkdown options.  This issue will have legs when it comes to the draft - as a guy like Gibbs might have limited value here.

This happens over and over and over again and theyll never see it.  Just like him immediately bolting for the sideline on 75% of his runs when there are more yards to be gained

Yup miles in the past has left a lot of meat on the bone and this year while not as much there were still games where he left some meat on the bone.

I'm happy for him though,he had a great year some team will pay him,I hope it's not the eagles not be a use I don't like Sanders and don't want him in the team but because as stated I don't think it makes sense In today's NFL to give RBs big money contracts.

It's not shown to be a winning formula.

Who gives a F how many yards hes compiled behind our road grading OL?

Isnt there some stat that shows how many yards hes gained relative to what the blocking provides for him?  Ill guarantee you right now hes nowhere near the top 5.

Gainwell averages almost twice as many yards per catch.  Hm, I wonder why.  Coaches must just hate Miles.

You also see Gainwell and Scott getting touches in the RZ.  Hm, wonder why those arent going to our "top 5 bell cow"

He's good there too. Relatively speaking, he's not much of a liability there when compared to some of the league's other top backs.

The main reason I don’t want to re-sign sanders is injury concerns. Yes he’s stayed healthy this year, but I don’t think he will in the future, at all. Let him be a dead weight somewhere else.

You've convinced me, we should definitely go with Gainwell instead of Sanders next year. That's a clear recipe for success.

1-2 years is fine for Sanders given his history. I still think Sanders paired with a bruiser for short-yardage/close out games is the way to go. Sanders' best partner was Jordan Howard.

This, at least, is a fair argument for letting him walk. The others claiming bad vision, useless receiver, bad at pass protection, etc, are not.

We wouldnt skip a beat at all.

We'll probably let Miles walk and bring in another average RB to replace him

Well my semi-literate friend, I gotchu…

Rushing yards before contact:

19 - 445, avg 2.5/attempt

20 - 497, 3.0

21 - 471, 3.4

22 - 837, 3.2

Yeah theyre not fair because you disagree with them.  That makes them unfair

Also a concern. he’s stayed relatively healthy in his contract year. I’m fine bringing him back if it’s a reasonable deal. However i also realize if he’s not back it’s probably because of what you said and positional value. Probably they used the money elsewhere at a position they value more.

I think people are missing the bigger picture, this is less about Mile Sanders, and more about paying him a good amount. When you have a bunch of free agents and having to give Jalen hurts an extension which is likely coming this off-season because if they wait a year, they’re likely gonna have to pay him even more if he plays as well as he did this year.

here are the eagles free agents

cjgj

epps

cox

graham

edwards

white

Bradberry

hargrave

joseph

Suh

seumalo

sanders

kelce (he’s either back or retiring)

so the fact that the Eagles like to get contracts done early, especially at quarterback, and the fact that they have 7-8 starters on D as FA and 2 on offense, do you want to pay your RB nice amount of coin when there’s more premium positions the eagles need to replace or extend? You have to be smart on the decisions on who you’re going to pay as Hurts extension looms. As much as the wizard is howie is with the cap at some point in time have to make financially smart decisions about who to extend and who to let walk

I truly only care about 1 player on this list. Resign CJGJ and I am happy. It would also be beneficial to resign TJ because you have a huge hole if both starters walk.

Josh jacobs this year had 828 yards before contact, avg of 2.4 per attempt

Henry - 739 for 2.1

Chubb - 830 for 2.7

Saquon - 749 for 2.5
