Maybe, but I think Chase or Higgins probably will have a better chance.

That is correct and very insightful

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Agreed

Thanks!  I corrected the typo.

He actually had to delegate play calling because he was not doing a good job at it, his own admission.

Doug and Shanahan call their own plays.

As I said, "A head coach also gets credit for delegating responsibility to his coordinators/coaches” - especially if they have a lot of success doing it.  That’s exactly what good head coaches do.

There's a real chance we keep both Gannon and Steichen. Would be fantastic for 2023. I'm not the biggest Gannon fan, but continuity matters.

Yes, that is what you said.

I'm not worked up about it, and that was going to be that until other people tried to argue it.

2017 McVay won coach of the year, he wasn't coach of the year. Like I said before, there's a difference. One is a subjective decision by voters. The other is objective truth.

The academy of science could vote for Mars as the biggest planet in the solar system award, but that doesn't mean it is just because people voted for it. The answer is Jupiter.

Objective truth.

No Astrophysics in here , please.

They said there would be no Planetary computations required...

Guess it's a good thing that Shane bombed his interview lol

We are losing someone, I think. If we keep those two then Johnson is probably gone. This team has been too good to not get poached somewhere.

Shane definitely comes across like a bomb the interview kind of person but an excellent coach. And we know that Carolina has historically been putrid at finding excellent coaches so this is probably right on par for them.

Eagles ( Nick Foles ) are 1-0 in this scenario.

Correct.

Why do you think just about every egotistical coach (especially ones coming directly out of college - think Chip Kelly) rarely (if ever) have a lot of success in the NFL?

In many cases it’s their refusal to delegate responsibilities to their coordinators - they want to "control” almost every part of the game - and that rarely, if ever, works in the NFL.

I'd also be curious what his proposed staff would be. Sirianni and Pep Hamilton are the only two decent coaches he worked with and Pep is already OC in Houston. Besides those two he's been with a bunch of uninspiring guys like Wisenhunt and Lynn.

Comparing Nick to Doug, Nick had the #1 seed on the line, and could not figure out how to get a win with the back up QB.

Doug, who should have been coach of the year, went and got the wins he needed to be the one seed with the back up QB.

Didn't they get the #1 seed in the game Wentz got hurt vs the Rams?  He really only needed a half from Foles in the Rams game to get the 1 seed.  Unless I'm forgetting something.

Regardless, yes Doug should have been coach of the year in 2017.

This year Shanahan deserves it.

Oh someone is getting poached.

IMO, Patullo is credited with a lot in terms of marrying Xs and Os with analytics. Nick would obviously recommend him to Frank over the mess in NY.

IIRC they needed two wins in the last 3 games, which were against the Giants, Raiders and Dallas.  They beat the Giants and Raiders and rested guys against DAL in that 6-0 finale.

We clinched the NFCE with the Rams win but not #1 seed

Downside is we probably lose Brian Johnson then.

See above, they had to win both games and did not clinch until they beat the Raiders week 16
